Anon my experience following God's direction is He will sometimes get me to a place with expectation, then change that goal I thought he meant for me. ie; new job, new home, etc to the goal he has in mind for me.
I likely would not have followed Him for that goal, like I did for the goal I thought he had for me.
All in all it always turns out to be the right place to be whether I agree with the method that got me moving in that direction or not.
