No, that's what The Street wants you to believe. Currency competition in the reliable delivery of commodities is much, much harder to manipulate and as such would be deflationary and more adaptive, due to the complexity.

Most of that hasn't priced itself into the markets, yet. But it sure as hell has in most commodities, as the underlying financing gets pulled. ReverseRepo is doing that job, but good. All while buttressing money market accounts, for the better. Lotsa moving parts, but US$ "collapse" isn't one of them.
The Cypriot "Bail In" by the ECB proved without a doubt the merits of the US legal system (for now) and the value of holding assets in US$s. Return OF Principal is a powerful motivator.

The Fed started tightening versus The Street over a year ago, when it ramped up the daily ReverseRepo trade. This removed valuable collateral from Street use as marginable securities, thus delevering markets. Daily ReverseRepo stands at ~$2.3 Trillion of cash leaving the investment pool, every day, while stuffing Fed balance sheet holdings of treasuries, overnight, into the roughly 100 daily participants, which are comprised of mostly money market funds. The old way of doing this, was to use ONLY the Primary Dealer list, which are the biggest 22 banks in the world. Would those banks leave those securities "unencumbered" or would they further lend them out to the "Friends And Families" trading community, thus ensuring further trading profits? Naahhhh.
