There's a curious justice about having the secret weapons of the US turned on its own citizens; said citizens did not seem to care, at all, when the foreigners were the targets. Such weapons were called necessary when directed outwards.

Did anybody ever do a weapons check to make sure they were not pointed at us before they went off? Look at what we have.

FISA court routinely spying on Americans without a warrant.

Allies who routinely spy on Americans at US request, and vice versa.

Agitprop psyops run on the American people through the media.

Hell, they even turned the FBI from a law enforcement agency to a domestic/international intelligence operation.

Did anyone really believe it was not possible?

I think it all started in the 40s. Paperclip scooped up all the "useful Nazis" and put them in things like rocket programs, secret police, spies, etc. At least, all the "useful Nazis" that the Soviets didn't grab first.

Patriot Act gave them more cover to be more obvious, but they were always evil from the outset. I do not believe "Wild Bill" Donovan was a man a sane people would put much faith and confidence in.

Secrets and Lies, secrets and lies, so necessary, they tell us, because all the cool kids are doing it. They all are doing evil things, so we must do evil things as well.

After all, it's a tough, cruel world, and you have to do what you have to do to survive.

Or at least, that's what they tell me.
