Students have little choice about whether to participate.
My nephew entered a "commun-ity school" in ninth grade when the local STEM school was wiped out. Left within 6 weeks - they had all the students participate in Gay Pride parade during that time (he was luck y to be sick).
But that wasn't why he left. He is brilliant but was getting Cs in courses, blew his mind. Explained to him that Common Core era mandates require that all schools show improvement in student performance, so they deflate the grades at first, them inflate them later. Just imagine how this affects children psychologically…..
