At UN General Assembly, Syria Calls for US to End Its Military Occupation

The US occupies about one-third of eastern Syria and maintains sanctions on the country to prevent its reconstruction

On Monday, Syria’s foreign minister addressed the UN General Assembly in New York and called on the US to end its military occupation of eastern Syria.

The US currently has about 900 troops stationed in eastern Syria and backs Kurdish forces in the region. This presence allows the US to control about one-third of Syria’s territory, an area where most of the country’s oil and wheat resources are located.

Officially, the US maintains that its presence in the country is about fighting ISIS, but the Syrian government rejects that notion. “Fighting terrorism does not happen through an illegitimate international coalition that violates Syria’s sovereignty and destroys towns and villages,” Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said at UN headquarters.

On top of the occupation, the US also maintains crippling economic sanctions on Syria. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has previously said that these sanctions are meant to prevent Syria’s reconstruction until there is a political settlement in Syria, meaning regime change in Damascus.

Mekdad discussed the sanctions on Syria, saying the country has been “economically besieged” by Western powers. “The war against Syria, ultimately, was an attempt by the West to maintain control over the world,” he said.

The situation in eastern Syria highlights the hypocrisy of the US, as President Biden’s address to the General Assembly focused on accusing Russia of violating the UN Charter by taking Ukraine’s territory.

“Russia has shamelessly violated the core tenets of the United Nations Charter — no more important than the clear prohibition against countries taking the territory of their neighbor by force,” Biden said in his speech last week.

2018 video shows Giorgia Meloni, who has now vowed to support Israel, offering praise of Syria’s Assad and his backers

Brothers of Italy party chief Georgia Meloni, who is poised to become the first far-right Italian leader since World War II, previously praised Iran, the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah and other allies of Syrian President Bashar Assad. She also decried decried “another massacre of children in Gaza” in 2014.

Speaking to reporters in December 2018, Meloni said that if not for Hezbollah and the rest of the pro-Assad front — which includes Iran and Russia — Christians in Syria would no longer be able to display the nativity scene depicting Jesus Christ’s birth during Christmas.

Assad has championed himself as a defender of Christians and other religious minorities against the predominantly Sunni rebels fighting to topple him since the Syrian civil war erupted in 2011. Among the rebel ranks were jihadist groups such as Islamic State and an al-Qaeda-linked faction.

Her comments came after then-Italian interior minister Matteo Salvini, who is now part of the Meloni-led right-wing coalition on pace to secure majorities in both Italian houses of parliament, denounced Hezbollah as a terrorist organization while visiting Israel, prompting criticism in Italy.

Meloni’s remarks did not address Israel, whose destruction Iran and its proxies such as Hezbollah regularly call for.

Court hands partial win to Trump in rape accuser’s defamation suit

A federal appeals court in New York on Tuesday handed former President Trump a partial victory in a defamation lawsuit brought by a woman who accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s, with the court ruling that presidents are covered by a federal law that gives broad legal immunity to government employees.

A divided three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit said a lower court erred when it ruled that Trump’s accuser, E. Jean Carroll, could sue Trump personally for the allegedly defamatory statements he made about her during his presidency.

The Tuesday ruling was not the final word in the case, however.

The 2nd Circuit panel asked the top local court in Washington to weigh in on another key issue bearing on Trump’s potential immunity: whether Trump was acting “outside the scope” of his presidency when he allegedly defamed Carroll by casting doubt on her credibility and demeaning her personal appearance.

Whether or not Carroll’s defamation suit can proceed against Trump now hinges on how the D.C. Court of Appeals interprets local D.C. employment law.

Trump has denied raping Carroll. In a June 2019 interview with The Hill, Trump said Carroll was “totally lying” when she accused him of raping her during an encounter in a New York department store in the mid-1990s.

Trump added: “I’ll say it with great respect: Number one, she’s not my type. Number two, it never happened. It never happened, OK?”

Carroll’s attorneys at the law firm Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP said they were confident that the D.C. court would find that Trump’s comments fell outside the scope of his official duties.

“Donald Trump was not acting within the scope of his duties as President when he defamed our client, E. Jean Carroll because he was not serving any purpose of the federal government and because the comment ‘she’s not my type’ is not something one would expect the President of the United States to say in the course of his duties,” Carroll’s attorneys said in a statement, citing a dissent from the 2nd Circuit’s 2-1 ruling.

Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump, hailed Tuesday’s ruling by the federal appeals court.

“We are extremely pleased with the Second Circuit’s decision today in reversing and vacating the District Court’s finding in this matter. This decision will protect the ability of all future Presidents to effectively govern without hindrance.”

“We are confident that the D.C. Court of Appeals will find that our client was acting within the scope of his employment when properly repudiating Ms. Carroll’s allegations,” Habba added.

Over 90% of Donbass, Zaporozhye and Kherson voters favor joining Russia — first results

Counting has already begun at a number of polling stations in the territory, and the final results may be known by Wednesday morning

Voting in referendums on joining Russia in the Donetsk and the Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR), as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye Regions, is coming to an end. In the latter three, voting ended at 4:00 p.m. Moscow time on Tuesday. In the DPR, some polling stations have also already closed, with some remaining open until 20:00 Moscow time. Preliminary results are coming in from polling stations on Russian territory, where refugees and diplomatic corps were allowed to vote.

In the LPR, the referendum has already been recognized as valid, and international observers have not documented any violations during the voting process. Counting has already begun at a number of polling stations in the territory, and the final results may be known by Wednesday morning.

Results from polling stations in the Russian Federation

• The DPR's accession to Russia was supported by 98.35% after more than 22.48% of the ballots were processed.

• The accession of the LPR to Russia following the results of processing of 21.11% of ballots was supported by 97.83%.

• The accession of the Zaporozhye Region to Russia, according to the results of processing 29% of ballots, was supported by 97.79%.

• 97,05% of voters, following the results of processing 28% of ballots, supported the accession of the Kherson Region to Russia.

Turnout and results from field

• The tallying of votes has already begun in the Kherson Region and the closed polling stations in the Donetsk People's Republic. The rest of the polling stations in the DPR will remain open until 20:00 p.m. Moscow time.

• According to the local Central Election Commission, turnout in the LPR was 92.6%. The referendum is considered valid, despite Kiev's attempts to disrupt it, Leonid Pasechnik, head of the republic, said.

• In the Zaporozhye Region, the first general results are planned to be announced at 20:00-21:00 Moscow time, the final results will be announced on Wednesday morning.

Reaction of observers

• International observers from Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Serbia, Mozambique, France, and the Central African Republic reported no violations, except for threats and shelling from Ukraine, and noted the enthusiasm of the voters.

Impeachment Against New Prime Minister Of Italy

WASHINGTON, D.C. — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi drafted articles of impeachment against newly elected Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni Tuesday to combat what she calls "far-right extremist Mussolini cosplay under the Tuscan sun."

"I can't understand a strong, independent woman who puts family over government," Pelosi said in a brief statement. "The government should be your family. I want everyone to look at me as their mother!"

Rep Thomas Massie, an alleged American Nazi, respectfully disagreed with Pelosi's sentiment, suggesting that she couldn't be the nation's mother with hips that small.

Prime Minister-Designate Giorgia Meloni says she doesn't understand why everyone is comparing her to Mussolini. Will an Illegal Immigrant Wave Come Before the Red One?

Congressional Democrats and other creatures are not the only ones who are nervous about the possibility of a red wave in November.Drug cartels, fearful of a border crackdown should Republicans prevail, may try to get as many illegal immigrants and drugs as possible into the United States before the election. Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb told John Solomon on his Monday newscast that the cartels pay close attention to what is going on in American politics. Lamb said that the border has never been less secure, with hundreds of thousands of illegals showing up every month. The numbers usually dip during hot weather but should pick up as things cool off, and may spike with the approaching election. Lamb told Solomon:

“I think the cartels are very astute to what is going on in our political world and I think they see that the House is going to go back to the Republicans and likely the Senate as well, or maybe. And so I think you’ll start to see even more push to bring even more people, as if like a last-ditch effort.”

Lamb added that the nation is seeing a slavery situation that is worse than it has ever been. He said that the illegals his office has apprehended have plenty of horror stories of their crossing, especially during the last legs of their treks. One woman who was apprehended with a baggie full of morning-after pills said she had them because she knew that she would be raped multiple times. Lamb added:

“Where did we get as a country where our moral compass is so broken that we put politics in front of people because politically your party wants to have open borders and thinks that you’re doing something good for these people? You’re not doing something good for them by having open borders. You’re actually allowing them to be enslaved by the cartels.”

Lamb said that the government’s policy on the border has created a cash flow dream for the cartels, which he said are making approximately $200 million a week. More cash, said Lamb, equals more power. He said that the cartels do not even have to rely on drugs anymore, since human trafficking has proven to be so lucrative.

Lamb went on to make the point that, unlike drugs, a human being can be used over and over again. He called it naïve to think that everyone breaching the border is here with good intentions, and that women and children are being sold into the sex trade and the men are being forced to pay more and more money even after they paid to cross. He said that thousands and thousands of people are being enslaved every month. He noted that this was occurring under the watch of the Biden administration.

Lamb said that when 300,000 people cross the border every month, there will be people who want to do harm within the ranks….

In addition to the human quotient, Lamb said that the money made from human trafficking is being reinvested into the fentanyl trade. He said that thecartels are putting fentanyl into other drugs like meth, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana…

Lamb had a dire warning for America: the drugs and human trafficking largely pass through the border towns on the way to the rest of the country.

So, the cartels, worried about their bottom line, may start a last-minute push of their products — namely, human beings and drugs — before the borders close. If they close….

Whether or not the cartels have something to worry about is dependent on two things: the first is how things go during election day/month/season. The second is, even if the red wave arrives, will anything change? Will we have enough actual conservatives in office to make a difference? Will they take action on things like immigration, energy, and federal abuses? Or will they go along to get along and be seduced by the sirens in the swamp? I have been told by people who used to work inside the beltway that on day one, freshman legislators learn that they have to play the game to get nice office furniture and even good practice times for their congressional softball team. And those who have spoken out have found themselves in the crosshairs of the media and their peers. When a legislator becomes blinded by all of that gleaming marble and press attention, they can easily forget the people who elected them.

South Africa Makes 1450 Arrests in a Weekend Crime Crackdown

The police in South Africa’s Gauteng arrested 1,450 suspects in weekend operations aimed at improving safety in the province – said a press release by the South African Police Service.

On Monday I hosted a five-hour live stream with child advocates like Gays Against Groomers, Billboard Chris, Mark Ousley of UnWokable Podcast, and Alvin Lui of Courage is a Habit. We spent most of the time calling Oklahoma Republicans to ask them one question: Why are you funding the Oklahoma University Children’s Hospital when their gender clinic, Roy G. Biv, is chemically castrating kids?

Not one Republican staffer answered the phone. Every call went straight to voicemail. Oklahoma Senate staffers are in the building getting ready for the special session on Wednesday where legislators plan on funding OUCH to the tune of 90 million tax dollars.

We tried the governor’s office, too. His press secretary doesn’t take phone calls. I was instructed to email her. When I did, she emailed me immediately and asked me what I wanted, indicating she would not call me as I asked her to do. I sent her a few simple questions.

I’ve been doing this reporting gig for a while now. It has been almost twenty years, and almost ten here at PJ Media. In all that time, this is only the second time that I couldn’t get a state Republican representative to return my calls. Normally, they jump at the chance to talk to conservative media. We are their only hope of getting a message out that isn’t twisted into some CNN Russian collusion fantasy. So when Republicans go silent and won’t talk to us, it usually doesn’t bode well.

For five hours, we hammered the phones, and not one Republican staffer picked up a line. I also called several Democrats and strangely, they did answer the phones. Though their staffers lied to me or hung up on me, at least they had the nerve to pick up the phone.

While no one was answering the phones on the Republican side of the state house, one Republican senator, Nathan Dahm, was reading my tweets, and he did respond. He showed up on the live stream to face the music.Dahm blew the whistle on Republican leadership and explained that bills he wrote to outlaw gender experimentation on kids had been blocked by Republican head honchos. This reply came after I had left him a detailed message at his office, to which he did not respond. Ferate also did not contact me and did not comment further on why the Republicans in Oklahoma are all raring to give OUCH millions of dollars. While that sounds good, there’s a major problem with this bill, and I had Senator Shane Jett (the second Republican to man up and respond to questions) on a live stream on Tuesday morning to discuss it. While the bill will not allow funds to go to the hospital if they are doing gender experimentation on children, it can’t be voted on until January. Why are the representatives just doing this now? They have known about this since 2020 when Senator Dahm introduced legislation to stop it that was blocked by Republican leader Greg McCortney.

McCortney has still not responded to PJ Media’s press inquiry about why he did that. His office is also not answering the phone.

Sen. Jett announced that he, Sen. Dahm, and a few other Republicans with backbones are starting a “Millstone Caucus,” referring to the words of Jesus that it would be better for a man to be tossed into the sea with a millstone slung around his neck than to harm a child. Jett says this caucus will fight for the rights of children to be free from gender theology and medicalization in Oklahoma. His advice to Oklahoma constituents is to burn up the phones at the capitol and ask each representative you talk to, “Are you a member of the Millstone Caucus?” PJ Media will continue to follow this developing story. He rejected a plea agreement and looked forward to his day in court, according to a friend. But he died in April after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
