This is true for all people to some extent, for no one is perfect.
But when that gulf is HUGE, then things become problematic.
When the gulf is openly observable to everyone, even the casual observer, the existence of a fundamental moral flaw that flows into other aspects of that person's life, perhaps all aspects, important moral aspects, can be strongly suspected.
