Its a collectible like any other collectible. Why are pokemon cards selling for $50,000? Its a piece of cardboard but people collect them due to perceived rarity. But digital collectibles are better because they are always in pristine condition.
Baseball cards are only as good as the trees cut down to print them.
And if they aren't stored well they lose value.
