Just a reminder… how the ‘asks’ actually took place is still a mystery, Taibbi & Weiss et al are only privy to the internal actions and discussions after the inbound requests arrive. Put another way,we are blind to the method of the DHS/FBI portal into the network. I do not believe that secrecy is accidental.
The essence of Taibbi’s supplemental report is based on a few internal emails amid the group following DHS/FBI and ODNI officials telling the Twitter rulers they were not cracking down hard enough on the platform content.
As Taibbi notes, “The questionnaire authors seem displeased with Twitter for implying, in a July 20th “DHS/ODNI/FBI/Industry briefing,” that “you indicated you had not observed much recent activity from official propaganda actors on your platform.”
Twitter official Yoel Roth then responded to the U.S intelligence community in a series of back-and-forth conversations, and internally to the Twitter censorship group.
As noted by Taibbi, “[Roth] was not “comfortable with the Bureau (and by extension the IC) demanding written answers.”Taibbi then seems to pull out the pretending not to know things card and ponders, “the idea of the FBI acting as conduit for the Intelligence Community is interesting, given that many agencies are barred from domestic operations.”
Gee, ya think? Go figure.
Within the short thread theIntelligence Community is responding to Twitter with citations from mainstream media publications like the Wall Street Journal. However, the citations from the journal are sourced from the same Intelligence Community citing them as evidence.
It’s the proverbial and circular use of the wrap up smear.
Intel community seeds media with false or manipulated narrative. Media prints false or manipulated narrative. Intel Community then uses media printed story as citation to tell Twitter to act on it.

'In light of concerns about Baker's possible role in suppression of information important to the public dialogue, he was exited from Twitter today,' Musk wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.

Journalist Matt Taibbi, who of internal files about the Hunter saga on Friday, claimed that Baker had been fired in part for 'vetting the first batch of 'Twitter Files' – without knowledge of new management.'
Baker first joined Twitter in June 2020, the same month as Matthew Williams, a 15-year veteran with the FBIwho worked as an intelligence program manager and senior supervisory analyst.
According to Williams' LinkedIn, he joined Twitter as a senior director of product trust, and within two years, he worked with revenue policy, counsel systems and analytics at Twitter.
He noted that the expanded positions effectively made him the 'co-lead of Trust and Safety,' the team led by Yoel Roth, who resigned from Twitter and is facing backlash for his meetings with the FBI over misinformation being spread during the 2020 presidential race.
Also working on the Trust and Safety team was Jeff Carlton, who worked for the FBI, CIA and US Marines as an intelligence officer.
His now-deleted LinkedIn accounttouted his position as leader of Twitter's Strategic Response Team, overseeing more than 50 employees working to resolve high-profile escalations within the department.

Charlie Hurt, the opinion editor of The Washington Examiner, said it was 'a clear violation of the First Amendment.'
He told Tucker Carlson: 'They were actually opening up new back channels on platforms I've not heard of before, in order to keep in touch with one another.
'If this was happening during the Pentagon Papers, and we were seeing this level of collusion between the federal government and news, there would rightly be an outcry.'

The coziness between the FBI and Twitter had been long built in.
On September 16, 2020, =•Stacia Cardille, Twitter's director and associate general counsel== for the company's global policy legal team, wrote a memo to her boss, Jim Baker, Twitter's deputy general counsel.
She summarized a monthly 90-minute meeting she had had with representatives of the FBI, Justice Department, Department of Homeland Security, and Office of the Director of National Intelligence to discuss election threats.
Cardille told Baker the meeting would soon become weekly.
In her memo, she writes: 'I explicitly asked if there were any impediments with the ability of the government to share classified information or other relevant information with industry.
'FBI was adamant that no impediments to information sharing exist.'
She said that 2,300 'high-risk politicians and journalists' had been told to update their privacy settings, ahead of the 2020 election.
And she updated them on work 'to try to get this terrible impersonation account spewing 9/11 conspiracy theories impersonating a DCCC staffer whose dad died in 9/11'.
Cardille continued: 'Flagged a specific Tweet on Illinois use of modems to transmit election results in possible violation of the civic integrity policy (except they do use that tech in limited circumstances).'
In January 2021, the FBI sent Twitter another list of tweets they said were concerning.
Taibbi writes: 'Most tweets contained the same, 'Get out there and vote Wednesday!' trope and had low engagement.
'This is what the FBI spends its time on.'
In March 2021, a FBI representative emailed Cardille to flag 'products' that might be of interest - such as DHS bulletins stressing the need for greater collaboration between law enforcement and 'private sector partners.' …
Taibbi notes that Twitter also received information from state governments, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Election Integrity Project (EIP) at Stanford.
Taibbi concludes: 'The takeaway: what most people think of as the 'deep state' is really a tangled collaboration of state agencies, private contractors, and (sometimes state-funded) NGOs.
'The lines become so blurred as to be meaningless.'
Cardille left Twitter in October 2021, and now works at Google.
