Much smoother and nicer ride-the noise from 2-especially the older Airbus' and 757s (even though they are better in the newer versions of those) is still bad if you are seated near them on take-off/landing.
Gone through many sets of noise-cancel headphones but they are not needed as much with the tri setup (long gone) or 4
They all think it's "greener" that way the 2 vs 4 but you have less stress on the 4 vs 2 . which requires less service etc..at least generally speaking
