Obviously, New York City contains one of the most widespread surveillance networks as a result of DHS funding and security ‘threats’. However, the use of facial recognition software as a security feature is not as well known in the U.S. as it has been described in China.
A mom was taking her daughter to a show at Radio City Music Hall when she was pulled aside by security and told she would not be permitted admission. The lady works for a law firm currently in litigation with the venue’s parent company, Madison Square Garden Entertainment. All employees of the law firm are blacklisted.
Comrade citizens, what I find interesting about the story is the use of facial recognition to identify the woman and block her entry. It doesn’t take a deep thinker to see where this type of targeting mechanism can be deployed along ideological lines.
NEW YORK – A recent incident at Radio City Music Hall involving the mother of a Girl Scout is shedding light on the growing controversy of facial recognition, as critics claim it is being used to target perceived enemies — by one of the most famous companies in the country.
Kelly Conlon and her daughter came to New York City the weekend after Thanksgiving as part of a Girl Scout field trip to Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas Spectacular show. But while her daughter, other members of the Girl Scout troop and their mothers got to go enjoy the show, Conlon wasn’t allowed to do so.
That’s because to Madison Square Garden Entertainment, Conlon isn’t just any mom. They had identified and zeroed in on her, as security guards approached her right as he got into the lobby. (read more)

Hunting for Russians: How a Ukrainian law firm runs a campaign targeting ordinary people in Western Europe….
Mirotvorets publishes a constantly updated list of people considered by the hidden authors of the website to be the “enemies of Ukraine,”who have said or done things that constitute “signs of crimes against the national security of Ukraine, peace, human security, and the international law.” Some individuals listed have ended up dead, and when this happens, the word ЛИКВИДИРОВАН (“liquidated” or “eliminated”) is stamped across their entry on the site in big, red letters, along with an ‘X’.
Sometimes people end up on the Mirotvorets hit list for basic administrative reasons. In September 2018, hundreds of residents of the Zakarpatye region, including government officials, who took Hungarian citizenship were added. This led to condemnations from Budapest, and denials from Kiev that it was involved in the website.
The next month, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto angrily fired back that “it is a lie that the Ukrainian state has nothing to do with the website,” and claimed the country’s then-President Petro Poroshenko “gave his consent to the hate campaign in an attempt to increase his popularity.”
As well as average citizens, many Western figures with a high profile have ended up on Mirotvorets. This includes American journalists Chris Hedges and Glenn Greenwald, anti-war politicians Tulsi Gabbard and Rand Paul, British musician Roger Waters, and many others, such as “warmonger” Henry Kissinger. His “crime” was to worry in public that Kiev’s anti-Russian actions threatened retaliation from Moscow.
Despite the European Union, G7, United Nations and multiple rights groups calling for Mirotvorets to be closed, it has remained open. Ukrainian officials have also used the website to vet entrants into the country at border checkpoints since its launch, on top of existing government databases of undesirable elements.
While the website is managed in secret, evidence has emerged that it is closely tied to Kiev’s powerful intelligence agency, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and its domain is hosted in Langley, Virginia, US, not far from the headquarters of the CIA. Which raises the question: is “give in charge rashist”an attempt by these same dark actors to take Mirotvorets global?

A Ukrainian lawmaker has posted a photo of a sad-looking, dirt-covered boy, claiming that he is an eight-year-old named Mark, who “just survived” a Russian artillery strike. However, the claim didn’t hold water, since the same image had been used on a book cover in 2013, as people swiftly pointed out.
The false claim came from Lesia Vasilenko, a Ukrainian MP from the relatively small Golos (Voice) Party, who has a background in law and human rights campaigning. She sharedthe photo and the purported story of “Marc, 8 yo” with her 330,000 followers on her English-language Twitter feed on Tuesday.
The photo is nowhere close to being new and does not appear to have any relation to Ukraine. The 2013 Spanish-language edition of the book 'The Misremembered Man' by Irish novelist Christina McKenna featured the very same picture on the cover, skeptics pointed out. At the time of the writing, the tweet remained on the platform, though Twitter added a notice about its questionable veracity.
The Ukrainian MP, who states that she studied at University College London, is regularly invited by leading Western media, such as France’s BFM TV or the BBC, to comment on Ukrainian affairs.
The latest UN casualty report for Ukraine on Tuesday said that its mission had recorded 429 deaths of children since hostilities with Russia started in late February. A watchdog operating in Russia’s Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics reported earlier this month that 154 minors had been killed by strikes it attributed to Ukrainian troops during roughly the same timeframe. The UN considers Donbass as part of Ukraine and counts civilian deaths taking place there as Ukrainian.
Between 2014, when Kiev deployed troops against the rebellious republics in Donbass, in the wake of an armed coup in the Ukrainian capital, and the beginning of Russia’s operation this year, some 150 children were killed in the region, according to UN estimates.

Another Ukrainian terrorist attack foiled – Moscow
Two Russian nationals were killed in the southern part of the country while resisting arrest, the state security service says
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) has prevented a Ukrainian terrorist attack in the south of the country. The two people involved were neutralized by law enforcement officers and were allegedly planning to go to Ukraine to fight against Russian forces, the FSB has claimed.
In a statement on Tuesday, the security service described the perpetrators as Russian nationals with prior criminal records and who were part of a terrorist group. On the instructions of the Ukrainian special services, they were “preparing a terrorist act in the town of Chegem of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic,” located in the North Caucasus near the Georgian border.
“After committing the crime, they planned to leave for Ukraine to participate in hostilities against Russian Armed Forces,” the FSB added.
The two terrorists were killed on Monday in the neighboring city of Nalchik as they attempted to fire back at security officers. The FSB said it had found and seized explosives, an assault rifle, and a handgun with ammunition at the scene. Footage released by the agency showing the weaponry appears to corroborate this claim.
In recent months amid the Ukraine conflict, Russia’s security services have foiled several attempts to carry out sabotage and terrorist attacks on behalf of Kiev. On Monday, the FSB intercepted a group of Ukrainian saboteurs as they tried to cross into Russian territory, four of whom were killed in a firefight.
Last month, the security agency also prevented a Ukrainian bomb attack at a market in Russia’s Zaporozhye Region, as well as a plot targeting a gas pipeline connecting Russia and Türkiye.
While Kiev has never claimed responsibility for these incidents, Russia insists that Ukraine is behind the attacks and has accused President Vladimir Zelensky of resorting to terrorist tactics.

Ukrainian ‘saboteurs’ killed on border with Russia – Moscow
Agents engaged the group in a firefight while they were trying to enter Bryansk Region, Russia’s Security Service (FSB) claims
Several Ukrainian saboteurs were intercepted on Sunday while trying to enter Russia, according to the FSB security service. Four members of the group were killed in a firefight, the agency said.
The FSB claimed the saboteurs were armed with submachine guns produced by the German firm SIG Sauer, and carried “communication and navigation equipment and means for conducting acts of sabotage and terrorism.” The group also had in its possession four improvised explosive devices with a combined yield equivalent to 40 kg of TNT, the statement added.
The agency released graphic footage, purportedly from the scene of the firefight. It showed several, apparently lifeless, bodies in winter camouflage, with weapons lying on or next to them. At least some of the fighters were armed with carbines rather than SMGs, according to the video.
The Bryansk Region is one of several in Russia operating under a ‘yellow’ terrorist threat alert, the second-highest on Russia’s three-level color scale, due to its proximity to Ukraine.
Since November, eight federal subjects of Russia, including the Bryansk Region, have been living under special law enforcement conditions, which grant their leaders additional authority. For example, they can restrict access to the provinces or order evacuation from places that they deem unsafe.

Number of Ukrainian refugees in Poland revealed
950,000 people are registered as such, with the total number of Ukrainian nationals in the country exceeding two million, a senior official has said
Nearly a million Ukrainian refugees are now residing in Poland, Bartosz Marczuk, vice president of the Polish Development Fund, revealed on Tuesday. He estimated Warsaw has spent at least $8 billion to support Ukraine in 2022.
In a series of tweets, Marczuk offered a detailed look into the refugee situation in Poland in light of the Ukraine conflict. According to his data, “there are 950,000 refugees in Poland now, which is over 400,000 below the summer peak.”
Marczuk stated that Poland has also become home to another 1.2-1.3 million people from Ukraine who had moved there before the hostilities broke out in late February.
The total number of Ukrainians in Poland amounts to about 2.3 million, he added.
Meanwhile, the official continued, 90% of the refugees are women and children, making up 2.5% of the population of the country.
While in Poland, Ukrainian refugees receive social benefits, including education allowances. Meanwhile, 65% of school-age children are enrolled in local institutions, while 50% of preschoolers are attending kindergartens, he noted, suggesting that some students may be taking online classes. The Polish authorities spend some 200 million Polish Zloty ($45 million) per month on these efforts, he said.
However, Warsaw has to bear other expenses as well. “In 2022, Poland made serious efforts to help Ukraine,” he said, adding that it had allocated 35-40 billion zloty ($7.9-9 billion) for supporting Ukraine. The sum includes security assistance, private aid, allowances from the budget, local governments, and NGOs.
However, he pointed to a “very high employment rate” among refugees of working age, with about 320,000 people having a job. In the near future, this will enable billions of zloty to be generated for the budget from taxes and contributions from refugees’ salaries alone, Marczuk claimed.
In October, Poland proposed tightening the rules and depriving Ukrainians of financial assistance if they leave the country for more than a month. The government has also announced that starting next year,refugees living in state accommodation centers for longer than 120 days will have to start paying for their housing and food.

Non-sanctioned Russians unlikely to recover assets in EU – central bank
The Russian regulator says it has no confidence Western institutions will safeguard investors’ rights to use their unblocked funds
Permits issued by the international clearing systems Euroclear and Clearstream to unblock some assets of Russia’s National Settlement Depository (NSD) do not guarantee that Russian investors will be able to recover them, the country’s central bank said in a statement on Wednesday.
Last week, the Belgian and Luxembourg finance ministries authorized the release of “certain frozen funds and economic resources” that belong to non-sanctioned Russian investors, by granting a general license to the NSD. A number of banks had their funds blocked in the NSD due to EU sanctions imposed against the depository earlier this year.
“Short deadlines, vague wording in permits and the complexity of the unblocking procedure do not give confidence that Western regulators are ready to ensure the right of Russian investors to dispose of their property,” the regulator said, and advised investors to wait for notifications from their brokers or custodians on the results of the unblocking process.
Euroclear and Clearstream ceased transactions with NSD's accounts on February 28 and blocked them on June 3, following the inclusion of the depository on the Ukraine-related EU sanctions list.
In September, the Russian depository applied to the Belgian and Luxembourg finance ministries for general licenses, seeking to unlock the assets. On Tuesday, the Bank of Russia assessed chances of Western countries returning Russian assets as “extremely low” despite the fact that they haven’t been legally confiscated.
