A) House Democrats plan to release the tax returns of former President Trump today when the House meets at 9 am et in a brief session.
Do not expect a lot of fanfare around this.
B) The House will simply insert the tax returns into the Congressional Record during the abbreviated session with a skeleton crew on hand.
Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee have sought Mr. Trump’s returns for years.
C) The law grants certain members of Congress access to the returns of individual Americans. The committee went all the way to the Supreme Court to get the returns.
D) Democrats hope the returns shed light on the finances of the former President as he makes his third bid for the presidency in 2024.
We may not actually get the details of the returns until the Congressional Record is posted online or physically published.
E) Very little will be said on the House floor about the returns. Inserting a document like this into the Congressional Record is a routine act. Blink and you miss it.
