>Is Trump distancing himself from his base purposefully?

No. His base can read between the lines. Breaching doesn't mean "we're there yet". It means just that, breaching. It's a complicated case. Lotta ins, lotta out, lotta what have yous.

True story:

Relative had a chow chow. That dog was a manipulative fuck. That dog knew how to make relatives make anon no want to go play outside, and they made me play outside anyway. Chow chow attackeded anon one day. That was the last day chow chow was allowed to be anywhere near anon. Was a personal victory for anon to see chow chow go bye bye. Pics unrelated (maybe).

Adams is easy.

  1. "Hypnotist"

  2. His entire profession is to set opposing arguments while the real truth is somewhere in between.

  3. Sets his followers on a perpetual quest to argue opposing points while obscuring the truth.

  4. When truth is brought up, he ignores it or gives arguments to get debate back to the opposing points.

  5. Absolutely has to give a stream every day because it's now his biggest source of income.

Adams also advocates that complete anonymity on the web means the person isn't trying to make valid points. He went somewhat counter to Peterson in saying "I have to know at least SOMETHING about the person I'm debating with", which is false. The only reason you need to know something about someone is because you need an angle to persuade away from the actual argument.

Adams is good, but he's lost his touch, and it really started going downhill after the vaxx episode, and he dropped off significantly after the "Shelly" incident. You can still learn stuff from watching him, but it's mostly relegated to "how persuaders operate" kind of stuff.
