Another way to describe the transformation or evolution is more 'spiritual' in that the same cognitive dissonance/stress conditions create an awakening - we awaken to the reality that we have two identities. One is small and personal - the "I" of everyday life, and our other, our greater identity, is cosmic scale, the unitary spirit of us all, God's original perfect creation, which we echo in form, the cosmic being Paracelsus called Adam Kadmon. Adam Kadmon is awakening.
There are other ways, words and metaphors to describe the same thing. "adding a dimension(s) to consciousness," means we become conscious of the much larger reality which has always been there.
As Milton stated truly, "Thousands of spirits walk the earth unseen, while we wake and while we sleep."
The Great Awakening is a spiritual phenomena, with echoes in material political events, a transformation of consciousness to something higher and better and in addition to the isolated individual consciousness imposed by purely materialist world views.
A better environment has better laws. Obedience to God's law is a condition of admittance. The laws are the Will of the Immensity, and invigilated by powerful non human forces. Thoughts are recognized as real things, they are dangerous. We who have not learned to separate our thoughts from our emotions are dangerous, and the environment will not admit us.
This is a real spiritual future; we do not get it without strenuous effort, meditation and prayer, no one who makes the effort is refused. The future requires us to "be the very best we can be" as an entry condition.
Separating our feelings from our thoughts, words and acts is what we learn to do here. As we get better at this - at separating feelings and thoughts - we're no longer triggered by the taunts of the like common venomous shills.
