Gen. Flynn Exposes ‘Secret’ US Shadow Government: ‘Parallel Supreme Court’ Operates in the Shadows

Warning Americans that their right to live free of being spied upon is in danger, retired Army Gen. Michael Flynn on Monday fired off a five-tweet barrage attacking the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court system.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court is the judicial panel that oversees American intelligence agencies in surveillance matters involving American citizens in the U.S. This shadowy body came to the public eye during the investigation of debunked claims against the 2016 campaign of former President Donald Trump.

Through repeated applications to the court, containing falsified information, the FBI was able to conduct surveillance on the Trump campaign that grew into the “Russia collusion” investigation that plagued Trump’s presidency and cost Flynn the national security advisor post he held briefly in the first days of the Trump administration.

“In the coming months, among other serious problems (& there are many), we are going to learn the FISC has become a parallel Supreme Court but operates in almost total secrecy,” Flynn wrote.

Flynn referenced former Democratic Sen. Frank Church of Idaho, who in the 1970s sparked reforms of America’s intelligence agencies as chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Activities — better known as the “Church Committee.” The committee uncovered revelations of the government spying on Americans, as noted by the Levin Center.

“In 1975, Church stated, ‘hiding evil is the trademark of a totalitarian government. There is no more pernicious threat to a free society than a secret police…operating beyond the law…if these abuses had not been uncovered and had the agencies gone unchecked, we might well have seen a secret police develop in the United States. Once that begins the Constitution itself is in very real danger,’” Flynn wrote.

Flynn wrote that Church and his work resonate in the contemporary United States.

“Church was right then and his words are exponentially more on point in 2023. Advances in technology, growth of a federal bureaucracy & deep-seated corruption across the federal government has only expanded the government’s ability to destroy American’s 4th Amendment rights,” he wrote.

Flynn wrote that the time has come to protect Americans from intrusive government.

Arizona State Senators Call For Investigation Into Katie Hobbs Charging Donors As Much As $250,000 Using “Dark Money” Group Headquartered At Democrat Law Firm For Inaugural Events

Democratic Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, whose election is still under question and litigation, is now under fire after it was revealed that Hobbs sold tickets to her inaugural events for as much as $250,000, reportedly using a “dark money” operation.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Hobbs was sworn into power on Monday, January 2, at a private ceremony closed to the public and media. In a bizarre moment of incompetence and unseriousness, Hobbs bursted into laughter after she was told to solemnly swear that she will support the Constitution.

We later reported on Hobbs’ privately funded inauguration ceremony, held on the Arizona Capitol grounds last Thursday. Again, Hobbs hid from reporters, and she was nowhere to be found after her inaugural address.

Days after the ceremony, Hobbs celebrated her inauguration with an unimpressive black-tie gala at Talking Stick Resort Casino on Saturday, January 7.

For these events, Hobbs reportedly asked donors to give $250,000 to the Katie Hobbs Inaugural Fund without disclosing where the money was going. $250,000 bought a “platinum sponsor” status with 25 seats at Thursday’s inauguration ceremony, signed programs, and a “special gift” with no limitation on how much donors can contribute.

On December 10, five days before Hobbs declared victory in the gubernatorial race, Nicole DeMont — the Democrat’s campaign manager — quietly filed articles of incorporation for a 501(c)(4) nonprofit entity called “An Arizona for Everyone.” (This phrase will be the theme of the inauguration, according to obtained documents.) On December 13, still two days before Hobbs declared victory, DeMont then filed articles of incorporation for another 501(c)(4) nonprofit entity called “Katie Hobbs Inaugural Fund,” which presumably speaks for itself.

The “known place of business” listed on both entities’ corporate records is the address of Coppersmith Brockelman PLC, a politically-tied law firm that has represented Hobbs on election cases in her capacity as secretary of state. Roopali Desai, a former partner at the firm, was the judge who administered the Democrat’s oath of office on Monday.

The financial connection between these two dark-money groups and Hobbs’s inaugural events, such as her ceremonial ball, remains to be seen. But their identities may serve as helpful guidance for oversight activities by legislators — whom she already has antagonized — who want to determine whether any public funds have been transferred between the two groups and state government.

After further investigation into the claims that the law office, Coppersmith Brockelman PLC, is listed as the known place of business for these shady nonprofits, The Gateway Pundit can confirm that the listed addresses are the same as Coppersmith Brockelman. This firm represented Defendant Katie Hobbs in Kari Lake’s ongoing lawsuit to overturn the 2022 midterm.

Judge Roopali Desai also worked for the Coppersmith Brockelman since 2007, became a partner, and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by the firm shortly after she was nominated to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals by Joe Biden on June 15, 2022, and confirmed on August 4, 2022.

Judge Desai swore Katie Hobbs into office on Monday, and she served as a member of Secretary of State-elect Katie Hobbs’ transition team in 2018. She also reportedly defended Arizona election officials against lawsuits after the 2020 election and represented Katie Hobbs in an election lawsuit by the Arizona GOP.

This is all suspicious.

Coinbase Fires 20% Of Workforce; CEO Warns Of "Dark Times" In Crypto

Coinbase is reducing its workforce again amid a collapse in its stock price, turmoil in crypto land, and broader macroeconomic headwinds.

The cryptocurrency exchange will cut approximately 20% of its workforce, or about 950 jobs, in a second round of layoffs in less than one year. Coinbase had 4,700 employees at the end of September and had already slashed its headcount by 18% in June last year.

"Therefore, I've made the difficult decision to reduce our operating expense(1) by about 25% Q/Q, which includes letting go of about 950 people(2). All impacted team members will be informed by today," CEO Brian Armstrong wrote in a letter to employees.

Armstrong explained the company will be "shutting down several projects where we have a lower probability of success." He said those teams have already had their access to internal systems stripped and will be contacted by the company today.

Affected team members will receive an email to their personal account in the next hour with more information, and an invitation to meet with an HRBP and senior leader. Coinbase system access has already been removed. I realize this last step feels sudden and harsh, but I believe it's the only prudent choice given our responsibility to protect customer information.

He added that the firings weren't due to job performance but based on economic turmoil in the broader economy and the crypto space.

Microsoft Reportedly Investing $10 Billion In Musk Co-Founded ChatGPT Creator

In recent weeks, viral artificial intelligence bot ChatGPT has lit up the internet, gathering millions of users as its imitation of human conversation sparked speculation about its potential to supplant professional writers and even threaten Google’s core search business (Google's management even issued a "code red" over the potential rival, the The New York Times reported in December).

OpenAI, the organization behind it, was co-founded by Elon Musk and Silicon Valley investor Sam Altman in 2015, and makes money by charging developers to license its technology.

And now, Semafor reports that Microsoft is in discussions to invest as much as $10 billion in OpenAI, valuing the company at $29 billion.

As part of the current deal Microsoft is negotiating, it's proposing to get 75% of OpenAI's profits until it gets it recovers its investment, after which Microsoft's aims to get 49% stake in the company, per the media outlet.

Other investors are expected to own another 49% of the company, while OpenAI's nonprofit parent would hold the remaining stake, per Semafor.

The Wall Street Journal reported last Thursday that OpenAI was in talks to sell existing shares of the company in a tender offer that would value the firm at $29 billion (the company is currently valued around $20 billion).

Venture capital firms including Thrive Capital and Founders Funds were in talks to invest at least $300 million in the share sales, according to the Journal.

'The most rewarding work': Canadian doctor who has euthanized over 400 boasts about assisted suicide in seminar

Wiebe spoke about many of her procedures in a seminar, including a situation where a man was rejected by the Medical Assistance in Dying program, but he found his way to Wiebe, who then cleared him, flew him out, and euthanized him.

The man did not have a serious illness or "the capacity to make informed decisions about his own personal health."

"Most of the MAID is provided by people like me who have become specialists in MAID," Wiebe said in the seminar, adding that "it's the most rewarding work we've ever done."

Wiebe declined to be interviewed regarding her statements in the seminar; however, she responded with a comment saying “it is rare for assessors to have patients who have unmet needs, but it does happen. Usually these unmet needs are around loneliness and poverty."

"As all Canadians have rights to an assisted death, people who are lonely or poor also have those rights," she added.

Stefanie Green, a physician from British Columbia, Canada, who specializes in euthanasia told the New Atlantis that "offering the option of an assisted death is one of the most therapeutic things we do.”

Green has found the job to be easier over time. "Writing scripts and picking up lethal drugs and driving across town" isn't a shocking ordeal to her anymore, she says, remarking that "it’s oddly okay for [her] to be doing that."

Green formerly worked as an obstetrician and compares delivering babies to euthanasia in her book "This Is Assisted Dying," seeing similarities between the two "deliveries."

"At both ‘deliveries,’ as I call them, I am invited into a most intimate moment in people’s lives.”

Green also assured her interviewer that the MAID procedure "is 100% effective."

According to the Daily Mail, in 2021, 486 people used California's assisted suicide program, while in the same year, the MAID program assisted in the deaths of 10,064 Canadians.

When comparing 2021 MAID numbers to 2020, the number of people using the service increased by nearly 2,500. The number of people euthanized in Canada has increased each year since 2016, with over 31,000 deaths in the five-year period.

NY judge accused of racist, anti-gay comments agrees to resign amid misconduct charges

On Friday, a New York judge accused of making a slew of racist and anti-gay comments to and about co-workers agreed to step down from her position effective March 1 and never to accept judicial office in the future, the New York Post reported.

The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct announced on Monday that Kings County Surrogate’s Court Judge Harriet Thompson agreed to resign amid misconduct allegations, which she has denied.

Thompson, who has been a Surrogate's Court judge since 2019, was charged by the CJC in May 2022 for allegedly making “inappropriate comments to and about employees and judges of the Unified Court System.”

The written complaint made against Thompson also alleged that she “displayed bias against various individuals and ethnicities; failed to administer Surrogate Court matters in a timely manner, leading to substantial delays; and, as a candidate for Surrogate in 2018, failed to complete mandatory campaign ethics education in a timely manner.”

Thompson was accused of making several vile remarks to and about co-workers. The inspector general “substantiated” claims that Thompson had referred to four other judges as “gay racist f*ts” who were “all fing each other.”

“I hate these gay white men … being gay is an abomination to mankind,” Thompson allegedly said.

According to the state’s Office of Court Administration, Thompson was accused of stating, “I do not like Hispanic people. They have a deceitful trait that goes way back to biblical times.”

At the time of the allegation, Thompson’s attorney told the Post, “The judge denies all of the allegations that are asserted against her.”

The judge was scheduled for a formal hearing later this month but provided a physician’s note in November claiming that she was “not medically fit to stand trial at this time” due to a medical disability that would require her to have additional procedures. According to the New York Post, Thompson sustained a shoulder injury.

As a result of her claim, the commission filed another complaint against Thompson, accusing her of being medically unfit for office on account of her injury.

Andrew Fisher, Thompson’s lawyer, told the Post, “Because of the pain she endures she takes some medication which would interfere with her ability to participate in the defense against the charges that have been made.”

In response, Thompson has agreed to resign and drop the lawsuit she filed against the OCA, accusing the administration of wrongful suspension.

“Had Judge Thompson not developed some disabling illness, she would have vigorously defended herself, but found that it was an impossible thing to do at this point,” Fisher said. “It should be noted that there are no findings of wrongdoing that have been entered against her.”

“She leaves, hopefully, with her reputation intact,” Fisher added.

Commission Administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian stated, “The conduct charged against Judge Thompson was egregious and, if established at trial, would have warranted her removal from office. She now claims a medical condition prevents her from performing judicial duties, which opens a different path in furtherance of the public interest for her immediate and permanent departure from the bench.”

Thompson's retirement begins March 1, and she will be allowed to keep her judicial pension.

The University of Pennsylvania, which paid Joe Biden prior to his presidential run, was accepting big money from donors apparently to carve out spaces for foreign students at UPenn including from Communist China, and NATIONAL FILE can confirm that internal controversy and a staff shakeup occurred when staff questioned how international funds were being spent. With Joe Biden able to return to the Penn Biden Center after his presidency, Biden puts himself in a position to personally profit from the vaccines he is pushing. Pfizer-BioNTech is trying to get a new authorization for a child booster for 5 to 11 year olds.

Under the watch of UPenn president Amy Gutmann, massive amounts of money have flowed into the university’s funds apparently to import students from around the world including from Communist China and the “People’s Republic of China” with administrator notes including “MAKE SURE STUDENT IS FROM CHINA…” Amy Gutmann, the UPenn president who oversaw the establishment of Joe Biden’s think tank the Penn Biden Center in 2018, is now Biden’s Ambassador to Germany. There were arguments in the UPenn administration about where the Chinese-oriented money and other foreign money was going. Some insiders questioned how funds for international students were being managed without transparency, and the arguments led to a staff overhaul. The controversy stemmed from funds set aside for international students.

World Economic Forum’s Davos Set for ‘Record Participation’ as 52 Heads of State to Attend Globalist Summit

The Swiss town of Davos will host 52 heads of state and government and nearly 600 CEOs as the World Economic Forum hosts its annual meeting in the Alps next week, organizers said Tuesday.

Forum organizers said their latest lineup for the elite gathering of political leaders, business executives, cultural trend-setters and international organization chiefs will tackle issues facing a divided world as 2023 begins, with war and conflict, economic pressures and climate change in focus.

“There is no doubt that our 53rd annual meeting in Davos will happen against the most complex geopolitical and economic backdrop in decades,” said forum President Borge Brende, pointing to challenges like the threat of global recession, soaring energy and food prices, and the need to better address global warming.

Russia’s nearly yearlong war in Ukraine and COVID-19 restrictions and now a wave of infections in China have helped weaken the global economy.

Brende pointed to “record participation” of 52 heads of state and government, more than half of them from Europe, as well as some recently elected leaders including President Yoon Suk Yeol of South Korea, President Gustavo Petro of Colombia and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. of the Philippines. Nearly 300 government ministers were expected to take part.

The forum president said some delegations had asked for the names of their participants “not to be shared” right away for security reasons. Brende said, for example, that unspecified “high-level” delegations from China and Ukraine would attend.

The U.S. will be represented by Biden administration officials including presidential climate envoy John Kerry, head of national intelligence Avril Haines and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai as well as several governors and congressional lawmakers.

The meeting offers a grab-bag of issues discussed in hundreds of public sessions as well as in more secretive backroom deal-making by business leaders in the upscale hotels along Davos’ Promenade, near the conference center that hosts the gathering.

The agenda is stacked with discussions about ideas, innovations and the search for public-private cooperation on issues like energy, climate, investment, trade, future technologies, jobs, health and social mobility, among others.

It’s hard to predict if the high-minded discussions will yield substantial announcements that make headway on the world’s most pressing challenges. The event has been criticized for hosting wealthy executives who sometimes fly in on emissions-spewing corporate jets.

On the gathering’s opening day Monday, four figures from art and culture will be honored: Artist Maya Lin, soprano Renée Fleming, and actors Idris and Sabrina Dhowre Elba will receive the forum’s “Crystal Award” – given in recognition of artists who are “bridge-builders and role models for all leaders of society.”

Minnesota Will Soon Make Teachers Endorse Child Mutilation To Get A License

Minnesota’s teaching licensure board will soon require all teachers to be card-carrying Marxists. The card will literally say “licensed teacher,” but recently approved revisions redefine state licensure in expressly Marxist terms: Academic knowledge is out, and power struggle among the classes is in. To be licensed in Minnesota starting in 2025, every teacher must not merely teach about, but personally advocate, the core tenets of critical race theory and transgender ideology.

The state’s insistence that every teacher positively affirm homosexual behaviors and transgendered identities understandably aggravates consciences among moral traditionalists, but the issues run deeper than the “culture war.” What is at stake is the nature of knowledge, the future of liberty, and the prospects for a sustainable social order. In a word: civilization.

A perfunctory hearing on Aug. 24, 2022, and the resulting order for implementation with slight revisions by a solitary administrative judge in December cemented the new regime. The revised Standards of Effective Practice require radical changes to teachers’ curriculum selection, classroom management style, and self-understanding of the teaching vocation. The education departments at colleges and universities also must document their fulfillment of the new standards or else have their program certifications rescinded by Minnesota’s Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB).

The new requirements require teachers to positively affirm extremist leftist positions about human nature and sexual practices in order to be allowed to teach in government schools.

Teachers will be required to choose “anti-racist” — i.e. critical race theory — instructional strategies for students. An administrative judge told the state to amend No. 4 here requiring teachers to expose children to sexual identities. It will likely still go into effect, with slightly different language.

The new license requires teachers to affirm transgenderism.

The revisions represent only the latest attack against American heritage in Minnesota’s public schools. In 2013, the state education department successfully removed the four presidents featured on Mount Rushmore from social studies standards.

Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr., John F. Kennedy, and Ronald Reagan also got the ax that year, as did the Magna Carta. References to the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were relativized, as students were to be instructed that those documents do not contain universal principles of ordered liberty, but merely the opinion of one powerful group of 18th-century men.

A popular argument against the various vaccine mandates imposed upon citizens the world over is that they violate the Nuremberg Code of 1947. Many an article points out that the Code states that, as regards any experimental medical treatment, "the voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential … without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, over-reaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion.”

The common retort is to insist that the COVID-19 'vaccines' are not “experimental.” This appeal seems a little desperate—a grasping at straws.

In medicine, there’s no substitute for time, and when COVID-19 vaccines were rolled out to the public, there were no long-term studies into their impacts. Though they may have saved lives and protected the most vulnerable, senior citizens, from severe disease, many of the claims made about the vaccines’ effectiveness proved to be wrong, and many adverse effects in younger populations have manifested. People seem to want to pretend that the scale of the experiment—hundreds of millions the world over—somehow renders it not an “experiment.”

What’s most revealing is that so many vaccine apologists ignore whether these vaccine mandates meet the definition of “coercion.” No one seems to dispute the assertion that vaccine mandates are coercive—because the evidence is quite overwhelming.

WEF: The Swiss Government Will Deploy 5,000 Troops to Provide Security at the Davos Forum

The Swiss army will deploy 5,000 troops ahead of the World Economic Forum’s next meeting in Davos. Authorities indicated the troops were authorized to utilize coercive police measures to fulfill their security mission.

“The Federal Parliament has set a ceiling of 5,000 troops who will serve in support during the WEF, which will run from January 10 to 26. Some of them will be stationed directly in Davos, where the annual meeting will be held from January 16 to 20,” the statement read.

According to the statement, other servicemen will provide logistics and air force operations support throughout Switzerland. Soldiers will be authorized to “use coercive police measures to carry out their respective tasks,” the government said.

There will also be snipers on the roofs of most buildings, and in previous years the Swiss Police have shot drones from the sky.

The WEF predicts that soon everyone will be able to ‘rent’ anything they need under the cover of ‘sustainable development’ (SDGs) and ‘saving the planet’ (Net Zero). There is no doubt that the tiny elites who rolled out the Great Reset will own it all.

The number of participants in the forum is currently unknown. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso, and Colombian President Gustavo Petro will attend the Davos forum personally, according to the latest information. The Geiks weren’t your typical Bronx working-class Jewish family.

The father ran a mob-protected trucking company in Manhattan’s Garment District. One brother, an NYPD detective, chauffeured organized crime couriers around the city with illicit cash. A kid sister visited a Las Vegas casino where the tween was set up with a couple of slot machines in a private room.

And a close family friend was sent up the river for killing a notorious Jewish gangster.

Meet the family whose close ties to Jewish gangsters are chronicled in “Uncle Charlie Killed Dutch Schultz,” a memoir just published by Alan Geik.

Dutch Schultz was the mob name of Arthur Flegenheimer, the Jewish bootlegger and numbers racket kingpin who left this mortal coil in October 1935 at the Palace Chop House in Newark. The triggermen were two Jews, members of the organized crime group Murder Inc. — Mendy Weiss and Charles “Bug” Workman, the Uncle Charlie of the memoir’s title.

Workman, who reportedly killed more than 20 people before pleading guilty to the murder of Dutch Schultz, was not a blood relative of author Alan Geik. But Workman grew up with Geik’s father on the Lower East Side and was so close to the Geik family he was considered an uncle. The author was in his 20s when he first met Workman, after the hitman was released from a New Jersey prison in 1964.

Texas Republican files articles of impeachment against Mayorkas

A Texas Republican has filed articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, wasting little time into the new Congress to act on a GOP priority leadership has said would come after thorough investigation.

Rep. Pat Fallon (R-Texas) filed the paperwork for the resolution Jan. 3, the first day of the 118th Congress, though with delays in securing a House Speaker, the document was officially filed late Monday.

The resolution claims Mayorkas “engaged in a pattern of conduct that is incompatible with his duties,” complaining that he has failed to maintain operational control over the border.

The resolution comes amid a busy week in the Biden administration. President Biden visited the border over the weekend for the first time since taking office, pledging to deliver more resources to the officers that patrol the region.

And Mayorkas is in Mexico this week, meeting with officials there on a variety of issues, including the shared migration agreement rolled out by the Biden administration last week.

Mayorkas is also due to discuss coordination on trans-national crime with Mexican authorities. His office did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Fallon’s resolution won’t move without further action from GOP leadership, but it would otherwise jump start a process House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has treaded carefully on.

“House Republicans will investigate every order, every action and every failure will determine whether we can begin impeachment inquiry,” McCarthy said at a press conference in El Paso, Texas, in November.

Still, impeachment charges against Mayorkas were all but certain under Republican control of the House, as the DHS secretary has been a constant foil for the GOP during the Biden administration.

Republicans claim that under Biden, DHS has dismantled the border security apparatus built under former President Trump, leading to border chaos.

Most border and immigration analysts agree that increased migration due to security, economic and governance conditions in the Western Hemisphere is the primary reason for the high number of migrants encountered at the border.

And Mayorkas has taken flak both from the right and the left, as DHS has maintained many of the Trump administration’s border policies, which immigrant advocates say violate human rights.

Still, Republicans see the border as a winning issue for them, and Mayorkas is the Biden administration’s face on that issue.

Mayorkas, the first Latino to ever hold that post, has often butted heads with congressional Republicans at oversight hearings.

In April, Mayorkas clashed with Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee, including a notable exchange with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) over his agency’s record on deportations from the interior of the country.

That combative exchange could set the tone for impeachment proceedings.

The potential for a political circus is concerning for Republicans fresh off a nationally-televised Speaker’s race that highlighted divisions in the party.

Netanyahu sets red lines for Iran on Israel's northern border

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant pledged to prevent the transfer of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah adding that peace is an "important goal."

Israel will combat any Iranian attempt to place military bases on its borders with Lebanon and Syria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said as he toured the North with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Wednesday.

"The main enemy we face is the terrorist regime in Iran and its entrenchment in Syria and Lebanon."

Gallant pledged to prevent the transfer of Iranian weapons to Hezbollah adding that peace is an "important goal." The two men also visited the northern command.

Netanyahu reaches out to the US about a common front against Iran

Netanyahu's northern visit comes just one day after he spoke to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) about the danger of Iran's pursuit of a nuclear arsenal and the importance of creating a common position between Jerusalem and Washington against the Islamic Republic.

He has spoken about Iran almost every day since he was sworn into office two weeks ago.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan is expected to visit Israel this month to discuss Iran and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer is in the United States, where he spoke with officers from the Biden administration.

New Zealand is attempting to pass a Bill that will restrict and prohibit the use of natural health products

The New Zealand (“NZ”) Labour Party have introduced a Therapeutic Products Bill. The public only has until 15 February to make submissions. More than 50% of the NZ public uses Natural Products. The structure of the Bill is very concerning. It establishes a regulator who will be empowered to take decisions and control availability, it does not adequately specify what factors should influence his decisions. In other words, it is an enabling bill of the type favoured by repressive regimes.

We don’t see any evidence that the public is being disadvantaged under current regulations, Dr. Guy Hatchard said, nor is there any evidence they are being harmed by Natural Products. This is an area where the government has no need to tighten regulations.

The Bill will place additional financial burdens on manufacturers and end users and it will introduce uncertainty about products that have been sold and relied upon by millions of New Zealanders. In our opinion, it is an underhand move to structure the Bill as regulation without specifying content. This is designed to disperse and deflect public interest, especially as the public consultation period spans the summer break.

It is of note that the very long list of common herbals planned to be banned under the 2016 bill drawn up by Medsafe with the help of the International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Authorities (“ICMRA”) is still in existence. Some of these are even used regularly and traditionally in cooking. Under the Bill, there is nothing to stop the new regulator from simply adopting this list as soon as appointed. This list would disrupt the availability of traditional remedies.

ICMRA was born out of the 65th World Health Assembly conference in 2012 under the excuse of a need “to address current and emerging human medicine regulatory and safety challenges globally, strategically and in an ongoing, transparent, authoritative and institutional manner.” Its members include medicine and drug regulatory bodies from 22 countries and the European Union. Additionally, another 15 countries are counted as associate members. The World Health Organisation is noted as an “observer.” And so, this is not only a problem New Zealanders face. What is happening in New Zealand in respect of prohibiting and controlling Natural Products will be rolled out to the detriment of populations in a large portion of the world.

Natural Products Regulation – An Overreach of Government Control

Civilisations come and go through the ages. When governments empower people, they harness the intelligence and creativity of their citizens for the good of all, when they seek to control their populations, they fall into decline.

Following three years of pandemic control, governments are not stopping there. Here in New Zealand, the government has introduced the ‘Therapeutic Products Bill’ which will control how products which appear to benefit health are manufactured, prescribed, imported, advertised, supplied and exported. According to Health Minister Andrew Little:

It will enable New Zealand to take advantage of advances in medicine, such as cell and tissue therapies, emerging gene therapies, and the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning software. Having risk-proportionate approval systems will improve access to necessary and life-saving medicines, such as vaccines in a pandemic.

An important part of the bill aims to regulate the natural health products used by more than 50% of our population. This is the third attempt of the Labour Party to introduce extreme regulation of the public’s options to choose their medical care, supplements, and diet. At least 17 dead in deadliest day of anti-government protests in Peru

At least 17 people were killed in clashes with police in southern Peru, the country’s human rights office said on Monday, the deadliest day so far of protests demanding early elections and the release of jailed former president Pedro Castillo.

The clashes occurred in Juliaca, a city near the banks of Lake Titicaca in southern Peru’s Puno region, and left 68 people injured, Henry Rebaza, a Puno health ministry official, told the state-run television channel TV Peru. The dead included at least two teenagers, according to the ministry.

Some of the bodies had bullet wounds, Puno’s regional health director, Ismael Cornejo, told local radio station RPP.

The latest casualties raise the death toll from anti-government clashes with security forces to 39 since the protests began in early December following the removal and arrest of Castillo shortly after he tried to illegally dissolve Congress.

Castillo is serving 18 months of pre-trial detention on charges of rebellion, which he denies.

Rebaza also told Peru TV that 28 injured police officers are unable to be evacuated from Juliaca’s airport. Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola said thousands of protesters had tried to invade the airport along with a police station.

GUNSHOTS, SMOKE

During the day in Juliaca, a Reuters witness recorded footage of gunshots and smoke on the streets as protesters took cover behind large metal plates and road signs and threw rocks at police using improvised sling-shots.

Other footage showed people administering CPR to a man lying motionless on the ground in a blood-stained sweater, and people with severe injuries in a crowded hospital waiting room.

An unidentified woman told Reuters their relative had been hit with a bullet while taking a walk with a friend who lived nearby.

US Intel Files on Ukraine, Iran & UK Found Among Classified Docs in Biden's Private Office - Report

Citing "a source familiar with the matter," US media reported on Tuesday that classified documents pertaining to Iran, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom and dating to US President Joe Biden's time as vice president had been found in a private residence of his last fall.

According to the report, a total of 10 documents with Classified markings and dated between 2013 and 2016 were found in Biden's private academic office on November 2, 2022. The files were in a box that included personal documents, including some related to the funeral of Biden's son, Beau Biden, a former US Army soldier who died in 2015 from brain cancer. The office was associated with Joe Biden's time as a University of Pennsylvania professor.

Biden, who became US President in January 2021, had previously served as US Vice President between 2008 and 2016, under then-US President Barack Obama.

According to media reports, Attorney General Merrick Garland has already assigned a US attorney from Chicago who was appointed by former US President Donald Trump to oversee the matter - a move Garland made after receiving an inquiry from the US National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The documents have reportedly already been surrendered to the agency.

News about the documents first hit the news waves on Monday, but contained no details. Biden dodged questions about the discovery asked of him during an appearance with Mexican President Andrews Manuel Lopez Obrador

The report comes amid a lengthy struggle between Trump and the federal government over hundreds of classified files found unsecured at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. After several requests for the files by NARA, which only received incomplete returns, the FBI launched a raid of the estate in August 2022 and seized hundreds more from a storage closet.

Trump has refused to cooperate with the investigation, calling it a "witch hunt" and claiming it is intended to stop him from returning to office in 2024. Trump announced his new presidential campaign after the midterm elections in November.

Australia and Papua New Guinea to further defence treaty during Anthony Albanese's visit to Port Moresby

Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and his Papua New Guinean counterpart James Marape are expected to sign a document to progress a defence treaty between the two countries when they meet in Port Moresby this week.

"There will be a document put forward that both parties will agree to on Thursday," PNG's Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko said.

There have been meetings between PNG and Australian officials in recent weeks to discuss the wording of the document.

The ABC understands the document won't be the final treaty, which is still being discussed and finalised.

The document is expected to be signed after Mr Albanese and Mr Marape hold a one-on-one meeting on Thursday, where a range of issues are set to be discussed.

It's also expected that Australia will announce plans to open a visa processing office in PNG, as the applications are currently processed in Fiji.

The difficulty and delays many Papua New Guineans face when applying to visit Australia is a long-standing frustration for the country.

Mr Tkatchenko said regional security will be an "important" topic of discussion during the visit.

"Strengthening our security in the region (is) very important, making sure our region is secure," he said.

"And our traditional partners have always been Australia, New Zealand and the United States – and now looking at Indonesia as well, as we share the biggest border for Papua New Guinea."
