>Nydia Velazquez claims most americans are pro abortion
Most people are fine with not letting it get to the heartbeat stage (~6 weeks) in instances of rape/incest/abuse, and a majority of those people care not the reason. It's when it starts having a heartbeat or getting to around the 26 week mark that people have issues with it. What nearly all people have an issue with is taxpayers footing the bill for it. It boils down to money.
-In a perfect world, there would be no abortions.
-In a perfect world, there would only be wanted pregnancies.
-In a perfect world, most people wouldn't be motivated to rid society of something based on it costing them money, tax wise.
-This is not a perfect world.
-Accidental pregnancies do happen.
-Sometimes tragic cases of assault lead to pregnancies.
-At some point, the definitive (or at least most socially acceptable) answer to when life actually begins will be established.
-That will be the point society finally says "After this point, it's not abortion but murder".
-Hearbeat doesn't even begin until about 5 1/2 week mark.
-Most all unexpected (or medically induced) premature births prior to 26 weeks die outside the womb (very few exceptions) regardless of immediate medical intervention.
The abortion debate was never about the root cause of the debate. It's the most illogical, emotionally stupid argument our society has, and we're so fucking far from having a real solution in place it drives anon up the wall. Life doesn't begin at conception, and something that is clearly a life should never be ended with a medical procedure done for any reason other than "the mother's life in danger". Seems like the solution is easy, and the problem are those most invested in pushing an ideological agenda on both sides while the rest of the world is waiting on them to catch up to being reasonable.
