If I understand this, it would disincentivize abortions. One way that money can be made from abortion is when the baby is delivered alive and their organs harvested. For research purposes the victim must be alive, just as for traditional "organ donation". I think this might be where the idea of "brain dead" v. "dead" comes from. Tissues that have not been perfused for some time are not useable for some research process, I believe. I may have some of this incorrect, but I am pretty sure that abortionists have been known to provide specific tissues to researchers-How do they make sure they get what is wanted? How do they make sure it is useable?
