This is about the Fair Tax plan I presume. This is how it works.
You go to Lowes to purchase a NEW $1000.00 refrigerator. With the sales tax (6% here in Ga) your out of pocket, out the door cost is $1060.00 dollars.
That refrigerator has an embedded tax of about 22%. Under the Fair Tax Plan that embedded tax is removed. The cost of this refrgerator is now $780.00.
The Fair Tax Plan is a 23% tax only on NEW purchases. Anything NEW.
This NEW refrigerator is now $780.00 x 23% = $179.40 + $780.00 = $959.40
Out the door you have spent $959.40. You have saved $100.60. $1060.00 - $959.40 = $100.60
In the meantime, look at your paycheck and take note of all of the taxes deducted from your check. Under the FTP you would bring home your entire paycheck. To the penny. Everyone, including low and high income earners would receive a rebate check from the US Treasury based on family size and income, (lower income earners = more, higher income earners = less) to cover all essentials. Food, Mortgage, Utilities, clothing, etc………Other anon wrongly states that this would be more of a burden on lower income anons than rich anons. Wrong again. The rich anon spends more money on more expensive things than lower income anons. Therefore, they would be paying more into the Treasury than lower income anons. In essence, you decide and have control over how much in taxes you pay via the purchases you make on new products, goods and sevices.
AND, the IRS is ABOLISHED. There would be no need for the IRS. The Treasury would take over the accumulation of the sales tax on all new product purchases and cut the rebate checks to all anons. There would be no audits, no IRS investigations etc……..because it all would be accounted for electronically. You paid the taxes on what you bought at the point of purchase. The store. Not on what you earned at work.
This is how the Fair Tax Plan works. A group of Texas businessmen spent north of $20 million dollars researching this plan. And btw……………..the FTP would fund every government function ie……. entitlements, medicare, medicaid, Social Security including the unfunded liabilities of those entitlements.
