Scientists Have Successfully Reversed Signs of Aging in Mice for the First Time (VIDEO)

Two research groups in the US were able to stop mice from getting old by fixing their DNA.

In a recent study published in Cell on Jan. 12, Harvard scientists showed that they could manipulate and reverse the aging process in mice by generating DNA repairs.

The results of a 13-year, international study show for the first time that breakdown in epigenetic information accelerates aging in mice and that repairing the epigenome can reverse those signs of aging.

“For about the past 50 years, popular theory has held that the process of aging is caused in large part by an accumulation of mutation. There’s growing evidence, however, that aging has a significant epigenetic component. That is, the process by which stretches of DNA or the genes are turned on and off,” said the paper’s senior author, David Sinclair, professor of genetics at the Blavatnik Institute at Harvard Medical School and co-director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research.

My colleagues and I believe that not only are epigenetic changes are the primary cause of aging, but that these changes are driven by the ongoing process of DNA breakage and repair,” he continued.

“We believe ours is the first study to show epigenetic change as a primary driver of aging in mammals,” Sinclair said.

1. You state on pages 71, 148, 179, and elsewhere that you have operations in Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, regions that include Cuba, Iran, Syria, and Sudan. Further, you provide contact information related to your offices in Iran, Sudan, and Syria on your website. As you know, Cuba, Iran, Sudan, and Syria are countries that are identified by the U.S. Department of State as state sponsors of terrorism, and are subject to U.S. economic sanctions and export controls. We note that your Form 20-F does not include disclosure regarding contacts with Cuba, Iran, Sudan, and Syria.

Confidential treatment has been requested for portions of this letter in accordance with 17 CFR 200.83. The copy filed herewith omits the information subject to the confidentiality request. Omissions are designated as XXXXX]. A complete version of this letter has been filed separately with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Please describe to us the nature and extent of your past, current, and anticipated contacts with Cuba, Iran, Sudan, and Syria, whether through subsidiaries, network operators, or other direct or indirect arrangements, since your response letter to the staff dated February 10, 2006. Your response should describe any products, equipment, components, technology, or services that you have provided into Cuba, Iran, Sudan, and Syria, directly or indirectly, and any agreements, commercial arrangements, or other contacts you have had with the governments of those countries or entities controlled by those governments.

We confirm that Ericsson currently has operations associated with Cuba, Iran, Syria and Sudan. These operations generally consist of distributing telecommunications equipment and providing ancillary services to customers in these countries. None of the equipment and services provided in these countries is intended for military applications.

The following paragraphs provide further details regarding Ericsson’s operations in each of the relevant countries.

Cuba

Since the early 1990’s, Ericsson has distributed switching equipment for fixed telephony and mobile GSM systems in Cuba. Ericsson also supervises the installation of, and provides support for, the equipment delivered. In 2010, Ericsson AB, a company organized under Swedish law, established a local branch in Cuba. This branch currently has approximately 12 employees.

Ericsson AB currently has contracts with ETECSA, the Cuban state-owned telecoms operator, to provide equipment for GSM mobile systems, fixed-telephony and related services. Ericsson AB’s sales in Cuba in the last 3 years were $10.3 million in 2007, $15.7 million in 2008 and $18 million in 2009.

Aggregate revenues derived from operations in Cuba were [0.0]%, [0.1]% and [0.1]% of Ericsson’s total revenues for the years 2007, 2008 and 2009, respectively. As of December 31, 2009, Ericsson’s fixed assets in Cuba were less than $0.2 million and consisted primarily of office equipment and cars for use by local branch employees. Ericsson does not anticipate acquiring any material assets in Cuba in the future.

Iran

Ericsson has been active in Iran since 1940 and commenced operations in Iran through the establishment of a local branch in 1995. This branch was closed in 2004. All current Ericsson activities within Iran are managed through Ericsson System & Services PJSC, an Iranian company organized in 2004 for this purpose. Today, the local company has two offices in Tehran and four regional project offices, together employing around 240 people.

Naked-eye Comet ZTF

Comet C/2022E3 (ZTF) is no longer too dim to require a telescope for viewing. By January 19, it could just be seen with the naked eye in this rural sky with little light pollution from a location about 20 kilometers from Salamanca, Spain. Still, telescopic images are needed to show any hint of the comet's pretty green coma, stubby whitish dust tail, and long ion tail. Its faint ion tail has been buffeted by recent solar activity. This visitor from the distant Oort cloud rounded the Sun on January 12. and is now sweeping through stars near the northern boundary of the constellation Bootes. Outward bound but still growing brighter, Comet ZTF makes its closest approach on February 2, coming to within about 2.4 light-minutes of our fair planet.

Three active-duty Marines who work in intelligence – one of whom allegedly espoused support for a second civil war – were arrested this week for breaching the US Capitol building with a mob of Trump supporters on January 6, 2021.

Cpl. Micah Coomer and Sgts. Joshua Abate and Dodge Dale Hellonen are facing several charges, including disorderly conduct in a Capitol building.

FBI agents first became aware of Coomer because he posted pictures of himself inside the Capitol building on Instagram, according to a federal affidavit. As agents investigated his account, they discovered messages he wrote to a separate user that he was waiting for a second civil war.

“(E)verything in this country is corrupt. We honestly need a fresh restart,” Coomer wrote, according to the affidavit. “I’m waiting for the boogaloo.”

“What’s a boogaloo,” the associate asked.

“Civil war 2,” Coomer replied, according to court documents, referencing a rallying cry that is used amongst some far-right groups to call for a second civil war.

Abate, according to court documents, admitted that he had gone into the Capitol with two “buddies” during the riot when he was interviewed for a security clearance. Abate allegedly said in the interview that when he saw the riot was being “portrayed negatively,” he decided not to tell anyone about his involvement.

None of the defendants have entered a plea or have lawyers listed in court documents.

According to military records, Coomer is an Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance System Engineer based out of Camp Pendleton in California. Abate is a Special Communication Signals Analyst with the Marine Corps Cryptologic Support Battalion at Fort Meade in Maryland, and Hellonen is a Special Comm Signals Analyst at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

A Marine Corps spokesperson said in a statement to CNN Friday that it is “aware of an investigation and the Investigators say that video footage from inside the Capitol shows Coomer moving through the building with two other men, later identified by their military identification cards as Abate and Hellonen.

As the three men traversed the building, they allegedly went into the Capitol rotunda, placed a red MAGA hat on one of the statues and took a photo with it.

The trio spentnearly an hourinside the Capitol building, according to court documents.

A Las Vegas judge has committed suicide a year after stepping down from her role to avoid becoming embroiled in an ethics probe.

Melanie Andress-Tobiasson, 53, stepped down as a Justice of the Peace prior to a a hearing regarding her ethics investigation.

The mother-of-three was reportedly found dead on Friday, according to 8NewsNow, though it is unclear where or how she died.

Andress-Tobiasson claimed that she had been trying to save her daughter, Sarah, from prostitution after she started working at a clothing store she believed was a front for criminal activities.

But the trial into her alleged conduct was dropped after she agreed to resign in 2021.

After conducting this analysis, Ericsson believes that its activities in Cuba, Iran, Syria and Sudan are consistent with those activities that the company carries out in the ordinary course of its business in more than 170 countries. Ericsson’s customers in Cuba, Iran, Syria and Sudan are recognized telecommunications operators providing telecommunications services to the general public. Ericsson’s revenues are derived solely from sales of telecommunications equipment and services related thereto. The equipment and services that Ericsson has provided, provides and expects to provide to Cuba, Iran, Syria and Sudan are intended for non-military applications. In addition, Ericsson has never disclosed to the market that sales in these countries, whether considered individually or in the aggregate, would be particularly important in the future. In general, disclosure of sales figures on a country basis is made only for the largest countries which would not include any of the relevant countries. These circumstances suggest that there is nothing significant regarding Ericsson’s operations in Cuba, Iran, Syria and Sudan that would require disclosure in Ericsson’s 1934 Act filings.

Ericsson does not believe that its operations in these countries constitute a material investment risk for its security holders. Ericsson maintains that it has disclosed the material risks to the company and its shareholders within the risk factors section of the company’s 20-F. Ericsson currently has in place a thorough COSO-based enterprise risk management process. This enterprise risk management process involves the review of not only various financial and reputational risks, but also a broad range of other risks.

Ericsson is attentive to the obligations that Swedish, European Union and U.S. law place on its operations in respect of export control and other areas of law. Ericsson has a Corporate Trade Compliance Department staffed with approximately 30 employees, a number of which exclusively manage compliance with U.S. export regulations, including OFAC regulations. Instead, 16 days later, on November 18, Garland appointed a special counsel to investigate Trump for the non-crime of lawfully taking personal copies of his presidential records when he left the White House. For two months, then, Garland led a political cover-up—yes, a cover-up—of Biden's criminal theft of classified records. Instead of sending in the FBI to investigate, as he did with Trump in a high-profile, unprecedented, unnecessary, and unlawful home raid last August, Garland shockingly allowed Biden's personal, unvetted attorneys to taint the Biden crime scene for months on end.

It simply isn't credible for Biden to claim his criminal theft of classified records was merely an accident, with four sets of stolen classified records, strewn about in three separate personal locations, moved multiple times. One of the locations is the garage in Biden's Wilmington, Delaware personal home: the same garage, that is, which in recent memory has been teeming with a full television production crew. Even worse, it's the same garage and home office (where even more classified documents were discovered) that international influence-peddler and now-First Son Hunter Biden lived in during his crack addiction, and reported he rented from his father for $49,910 per month—the exact same amount the Biden family received from a Chinese energy firm—in a background check screening in 2018.

Biden tried to reassure the public last week by saying the stolen classified documents were in a locked garage next to his Corvette. That's hardly comforting. Biden revealed his criminal intent, admitting he knew he had possession of classified documents. His flippant attitude toward the situation should make clear that the Biden Justice Department and Congressmust conduct robust national security investigations.

As a matter of clarity, let's contrast Biden's theft of classified documents with Trump's lawful handling of presidential records. As the commander-in-chief under our Constitution, the president of the United States has the absolute power to declassify records as he sees fit. In addition, under the Presidential Records Act, a departing president can take a personal copy of any of his presidential records—classified or not. The vice president is afforded neither of these privileges.

That's not all. Trump stored his personal records at a federally funded office with federally funded staff with the appropriate security clearances and access to a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (usually referred to as a "SCIF") to handle such sensitive material. The Office of the Former President also receives lifetime protection by the Secret Service. Congress has statutorily granted former presidents the ability to take their classified presidential records when they leave office. On the other hand, then-Vice President Biden stole President Obama's classified presidential records and put them in his personal files in an abandoned office, his home office, and a garage with none of these precautions whatsoever. That violates the Espionage Act and other federal statutes dealing with theft of government property.

While access to these records is tightly controlled at Mar-a-Lago, access to the classified records Biden stole was largely unfettered. Former vice presidents generally only receive Secret Service protection for up to six months after they leave office. Biden thus did not receive Secret Service protection for two and a half years, between July 21, 2017 and March 17, 2020, when his protection resumed during his presidential campaign.

We have almost no way of knowing who had access to these records, without FBI questioning of Joe, Jill, Hunter, and James Biden. We already know Hunter sold access to his father, and James was very much a part of the Biden family foreign influence-peddling schemes with sundry Chinese and Ukrainian oligarchs. Did Biden let his Chinese business partner, Gongwen Dong, for whom Hunter had a key made to a Biden personal office, look over classified records? It is nearly impossible to know.

This alarming situation deserves a robust investigation of who was able to access the documents, when they were able to access them, and how someone who isn't legally allowed to possess this material did so recklessly for years on end without setting off any alarm bells within the intelligence community. Anything less would show a lack of seriousness toward the issue at hand and reveal that those in power are more interested in punishing regime enemies than protecting our national security.

This is a big test for Special Counsel Robert Hur, a longtime Deep State lawyer who Garland scrambled to appoint to handle this matter when his two-month cover-up of Biden's crimes became public. If Hur continues to allow Biden's personal attorneys to taint Biden's national security crime scenes and doesn't immediately send in the FBI to conduct a real investigation, including searching Biden's homes and offices and at least interviewing Joe, Jill, Hunter, and James, that tells us all we need to know.

The Federal Communications Commission gave final approval for Telcordia, a subsidiary of the Swedish company Ericsson, to be the next Local Number Portability Administrator (LNPA), despite protests from the current LNPA that the FCC ignored national security implications and withheld information when choosing a new company.

The North American Numbering Management (NANM) industry consortium was in charge of conducting the contract with Telcordia. The process was overseen by the FCC.

Neustar, a Virginia-based company that has been in charge of routing calls and texts for 650 million U.S. and Canadian phone numbers for more than 2,000 carriers since 1997 when the job began, believes that the FCC and Telcordia haven’t been transparent in the bidding and transition process for the new LNPA.

“The FCC’s decision is just another data point in a bizarre and opaque process that continues to give short shrift to important issues involving critical U.S. telecommunications infrastructure,” according to a Neustar spokeswoman who spoke on condition of anonymity. “Neustar will continue to fulfill our transition obligations, deliver high-quality NPAC services, and pursue a lawful outcome through our litigation.”

The LNPA was established so that consumers could keep their phone number when changing carriers.

The Number Portability Administration Center (NPAC) requires the company that oversees it to keep phone data secure because the Federal Bureau of Investigation and other law enforcement agencies look into the database 4 million times a year to gain information for criminal and intelligence investigations. The concern is that other countries could hack into the database to find out who the U.S. government is wiretapping. Another concern is that a hacker could get into the database and severely slow down the routing of calls, which could have serious consequences in the event of a national emergency.

In 2013, the FCC put the LNPA up for bid. Neustar and Telcordia were the only two bidders. One concern was that the FCC didn’t include national security requirements in the initial bid process.

“The process was supported by Neustar, Telcordia, and others, and included evaluation of technical and managerial competence, security and reliability, public safety and law enforcement considerations, cost-effectiveness and neutrality,” according to the FCC. “The process required bidders to respond to questions about service quality and system security and reliability.”

Neustar said that it would and had been performing the work for $496 million a year, whereas Telcordia said it would cost $143 million a year.

On March 26, 2014, the North American Numbering Council (NANC), which is an industry consortium, held a meeting where it recommended Telcordia be awarded the contract. Neustar asked for the transcript of this meeting to be published, but was told that notes from the meeting weren’t kept.

However, on March 4, 2015, the day before the Wireline Competition Bureau officially recommended Telcordia, the transcripts from that meeting were released. Neustar filed a complaint with the FCC, arguing that NANC failed to follow the Federal Advisory Committee Act by not fully disclosing the selection process deliberations. Neustar believes that the information was “withheld deliberately” to prevent public comment on the decision process. Despite this, the FCC decided to award Telcordia the contract.

“The March 2014 NANC meeting was closed to the public because it involved the discussion of confidential procurement information, which constituted trade secrets and privileged or confidential commercial or financial information, obtained by members in connection with the Local Number Portability Administrator selection process,” a spokesman for the FCC said. “Only those members of the NANC or its subgroups that executed non-disclosure agreements had access to this confidential procurement. The transcript of the meeting was placed into the record, subject to a protective order, at an appropriate time.”

There was a time, not so long ago, that CIA-linked contractor Evergreen International Aviation was doing quite well for itself. So well, in fact, that the company offered to deploy its workers, free of charge, as election day sentries that would “detain troublemakers” at polling places. Today, the venerable intelligence-helpers have fallen on hard times.

Today, the venerable intelligence-helpers have fallen on hard times. The other day, it had to unload its 200 million square foot maintenance facility in southern Arizona in order to help pay off its debts. The company's credit rating has fallen to CCC, just one step below rock bottom, Evergreen hometown paper, the News Register, reports. Pro bono head-knocking is now out of the question.

It's a big fall for Evergreen, the multi-faceted firm that's serviced government agencies for more than a half-century. The company flew the Shah of Iran around in 1980, and ran mysterious missions to El Salvador and Nicaragua shortly thereafter. The flights to Afghanistan began just a few months after the American invasion, in February, 2002.

In 2006, Evergreen’s parent company ferried Bill O’Reilly into Kuwait, according to SourceWatch. That same year, Evergreen denied it had anything to do with the CIA's "rendition" flights that took terror suspects to torture-friendly regimes. In 2009, the company won a $158 million contract to supply the Air Force with helicopters.

But Evergreen handled more than military or intelligence community work. Its supertankers put out fires from Israel to Mexico. Its unmanned systems division flew drone flights over disaster zones – well, until Evergreen was forced to sell it off. NASA hired it to operate its flying infrared observatory. Evergreen even started a vineyard and a hazelnut farm.

But Evergreen wasn't a business built on biscotti. One of the cornerstones of the company, once 4,500 people strong, was a freighter contract with Boeing. When Boeing switched from Evergreen to rival Atlas Air last year, the News Register reports, "Evergreen responded by filing a suit alleging the action would cost it $175 million in profit."

The business was already falling on tough times, with S&P downgrading Evergreen's credit rating to a B. But after the Boeing deal, things got much, much worse. S&P dropped Evergreen to a triple-C, and said it could only claw back to a B- if the company got itself a $320 million loan and $10 million revolving line of credit. At the time, Evergreen's chief financial officer told the News Register that "we are not concerned about the future of the company." Perhaps things have changed, since then.

PSHSB, and Sanford Williams (by telephone) and Rachel Kazan of the Wireline Competition

Bureau to discuss gaps relating to national security, law enforcement and public safety that

require attention before the Commission acts on the recommendation of the NANC.

Neustar began by noting that the LNPA selection process provides the first opportunity

for the government to ensure that the NIST Cybersecurity Framework is utilized in major

changes to national infrastructure, and for the FCC to show its commitment to implementing this

Framework. The representatives distributed a copy of a report commissioned by the Chertoff

Group which previously had been filed with the Commission. The report compared the NIST

Framework to the RFP requirements. The report demonstrated that 74 of the 98 elements in

the Framework were not addressed in the RFP. The attendees recommended using the

Framework to spur competition on security elements will best protect the national security, law

enforcement and public safety community’s use of this critical platform.

The meeting attendees also addressed the necessity of ensuring, before the

Commission acts on the recommendation of the NANC, that any potential transition does not

disrupt the Local Number Portability Enhanced Analytical Platform (“LEAP”), because LEAP is

not an NPAC service and therefore transition obligations contained in the NPAC Master

Agreement and related documents do not apply to LEAP. Neustar reminded the FCC that the

establish a plan for law enforcement to test and certify a new LEAP platform. In addition, any

switch in LNPA providers could be especially challenging if, as expected, Ericsson transitioned

the number portability system in stages, which could require law enforcement and national

security entities to connect to two different LEAP systems simultaneously.

The participants also raised the serious negative impact that a flawed LNPA transition

could have on 9-1-1 services. For example, Neustar has provided Port PS, a free, proprietary

service, to 9-1-1 providers for the past eight years, allowing them to quickly update and

reconcile location information after a telephone number has been ported and ensure that

emergency services can accurately determine a caller’s location. Despite the importance of this

service, which is used thousands of times a day, it was not mentioned in the RFP. Neustar also

reminded the FCC that the NPAC connects to more than 2000 carriers and contains over 650

million telephone numbers, any one of which could require emergency services at any time, and

all of which depend on PSAP access to reliable location information. In that context, Neustar

noted the relevance of the FCC’s recently launched rulemaking proceeding on ensuring greater

9-1-1 reliability, recommending that the same questions should be raised in an LNPA selection

proceeding to ensure that any LNPA transition does not result in nationwide 9-1-1 disruptions.

Neustar concluded by noting that the dangers to law enforcement, public safety and

national security services posed by a hurried LNPA transition are pressing and real. To address

critical issues that have been omitted during the selection process, Neustar urged the

Commission to adopt an amended RFP and require both potential vendors—Ericsson and

Neustar—to establish their ability to comply with the NIST framework, maintain and administer

the LEAP database, and ensure the continued accuracy of 9-1-1 services.

This is about the Fair Tax plan I presume. This is how it works.

You go to Lowes to purchase a NEW $1000.00 refrigerator. With the sales tax (6% here in Ga) your out of pocket, out the door cost is $1060.00 dollars.

That refrigerator has an embedded tax of about 22%. Under the Fair Tax Plan that embedded tax is removed. The cost of this refrgerator is now $780.00.

The Fair Tax Plan is a 23% tax only on NEW purchases. Anything NEW.

This NEW refrigerator is now $780.00 x 23% = $179.40 + $780.00 = $959.40

There would be no audits, no IRS investigations etc……..because it all would be accounted for electronically. You paid the taxes on what you bought at the point of purchase. The store. Not on what you earned at work.

This is how the Fair Tax Plan works. A group of Texas businessmen spent north of $20 million dollars researching this plan. And btw……………..the FTP would fund every government function ie……. entitlements, medicare, medicaid, Social Security including the unfunded liabilities of those entitlements.
