Ghislaine Maxwell says authorities 'allowed' paedophile Jeffrey Epstein to kill himself in prison – but offers no apology to his victims as she gives bombshell TV interview from behind bars
Maxwell touched on the circumstances of Epstein's death in a New York jail
She's also claimed to have 'no memory' of Andrew meeting assault accuser
Ghislaine Maxwell has claimed US prison officials 'allowed' her paedophile former boyfriend Jeffrey Epstein to die behind bars – but she offered no apology to his victims.
The billionaire was found dead in his cell at New York's Metropolitan Correctional Center in 2019 while he was awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges. He had suffered a cardiac arrest, and a medical examiner ruled he had hanged himself.
Maxwell, 61, who was convicted of trafficking young women for Epstein, has previously claimed she believes the disgraced billionaire had been murdered in prison, according to her brother.
Speaking to Jeremy Kyle on his TalkTV programme, Maxwell was asked to address Epstein's victims. She said: 'I say that Epstein died and they should take their disappointment and upset out on the authorities who allowed that to happen. And as I said I hope they have some closure by the judicial process that took place.'
Maxwell also used the interview to claim she has 'no memory' of Prince Andrew ever meeting his accuser Virginia Giuffre and that a picture of the pair together is a fake.
But Lisa Bloom, a lawyer for Jeffrey Epstein's victims, today called her comments 'disgusting' and said it 'really doesn't matter' what the former British socialite thought because she has never seen the original.
She insisted that Andrew 'had every right' to prove it was not real during the legal case against him over claims he had sex with Ms Giuffre after she was trafficked to London by Epstein.
The Duke of York has reached a settlement with his accuser while not accepting any culpability. He had always vigorously denied her claims.
The circumstances around Epstein's death have always been a matter of controversy, with conspiracy theorists suggesting he was murdered to stop him from providing more information to prosecutors.
His family attorneys also said that the marks on his neck looked as though he had been strangled and not hanged by a sheet.
