McConnell on grilling of district judge nominee Charnelle Bjelkengren: Our colleague on the Judiciary Committee from Louisiana, senator Kennedy, was quizzing a panel of President Biden's nominees.

McConnell: He decided to try some very simple questions that should have been beyond basic for anybody nominated to serve as a US district judge.

He asked one nominee, currently a superior judge in Spokane County, Washington, to simply explain what Article Five of the Consititution says. That would be the article that explains how the Constitution gets amended.

Here was the nominee's response: Quote, Ahem, "Article Five is not coming to mind at the moment" – was the response..Is this the caliber of legal expert with which President Biden is filling the federal bench for a lifetime appointments?

The problems with

@GOP

run much deeper than RNC chair.

Does the GOP have a lawfare operation ready?

Does the GOP have a Perkins Coie style law firm? With a FBI SCIF in place?

Does it have a Marc Elias-style election team ready?

Of course not.

Does GOP have shortlist of loyal agents inside the intel community?

Does the GOP have shortlist of loyal bureaucrats to regain control of our radicalized federal govt?

Our colleges & law schools?

Or Chinese-owned Hollywood?

Nope.

Does the GOP have a plan for anything?

Does the GOP funnel taxpayer money to network of conservative NGOs staffed with partisans every year?

Does the GOP direct thousands of CIA agents to infiltrate media companies to censor the Left?

Does the GOP direct friendly corporations to support conservative non-profits?

A primer on First Amendment rights

Free speech – the fundamental right guaranteed by the first of the ten amendments forms the bedrock of American society. In recent years, the shifting political landscape and innovative communication tools have brought this right enjoyed by the citizens to the forefront of many demands and debates.

The First Amendment states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In simpler terms, the First Amendment guarantees American citizens freedom in five key areas – religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. Together these five freedoms grant citizens the liberty to practice any religion; communicate their ideas; disseminate information using mass media; assemble with like-minded people, and hold the government to account. These fundamental liberties have shaped a democratic society where everyone has the right to speak and be heard.

Exxon CEO Slams Biden Admin: ‘The White House Needs To Get Its Facts Straight’

Exxon CEO and Chairman Darren Woods pushed back against the White House on Tuesday on CNBC amid criticism of oil companies increasing profits.

The White House issued a statement Friday criticizing oil companies for allegedly using profits to pay shareholders rather than increasing output. The announcement came after Chevron announced their profits nearly doubled in 2022. Chevron also said it would triple its spending on share repurchases, according to Reuters.

“Companies clearly have everything they need – record profits and thousands of approved permits – to increase production,” White House spokesperson Abdullah Hasan said, according to Reuters. “The only thing getting in the way is their own decision to keep plowing windfall profits into the pockets of executives and shareholders instead of using them to boost supply.”

“Is it tougher to try and respond to critics when one critic is the occupant of the White House, who has been harsh on oil companies overall?” Quick asked. “There was a harsh statement last week from the White House when Chevron said it was raising its dividend and going with the buybacks, they want to make sure oil companies are investing, and they have been very harsh. Is that a harder line to walk these days when you have a president and a White House that feels that was about things?”
