Not all legislators are lawyers, and so this part of American Legal History must be UNEARTHED for our state legislators, now.
Human Americans are not allowed to put "To my family forever" in their will at death under common law. It is called the rule against perpetuities, taught in every law school wills and estates class. (Check with your local state law school)
THE POINT is to keep land in circulation for future generations. Imagine what could happen today with the poor in our cities, if land were still affordable to buy, and farm.
At the writing of the Constitution, CORPORATIONS only lived 20 years under corporate charters, and could not own land forever.
EVERY STATE had Corporate Charter Laws, that have been gutted over the years, but, remains can still be seen in the state laws of every state.
Corporations were temporary unless re-granted charter for good behavior.
No need for a court battle.
Death was automatic unless charter was re-applied for.
Only a clean history of action toward the public would allow a charter to be reinstated. CORPORATIONS were held accountable to the public.
Without forcing the possibility of execution into the board rooms, Corporations are sociopaths willing to do whatever it takes for a profit.
QUESTION:
Why should corporations have more rights to land under the Constitution than "We the People" and our future generations?
At the time of the writing of the Constitution, we had learned a lesson, and made laws to protect the public from corporations capable of doing more harm that Jack the ripper on steroids.

The Founders never imagined a day corporations of ANY KIND could shrink the republic, by taking land permanently from "We The People" using corporate structure that does not die.
Well, ONE FOUNDER did, and here is what he had to say about the state of the law if it should ever happen:

Corporate CHARTERs need to go back to a term of years, extended ONLY for good behavior toward the public.
The BILL needs to say ALL land in the US must be owned by live American Humans, who, may not pass that land down to their "elite" families or other descendants.
We must not allow any US land to be locked up by ANY legal mechanism, or entity. The future generations will end up locked into cities with no way to control their food supply.
Foreigners are definitely out of the question.
