WASHINGTON— The U.S. military on Saturday shot down a suspected Chinese spy balloon off the Carolina coast after it traversed sensitive military sites across North America. China insisted the flyover was an accident involving a civilian aircraft and threatened repercussions. As Congress does a postmortem on the CCP balloon, I suggest that they also look at how the civ-mil control crisis contributed to the handling of the event. Over the past four years there has been a concerning amount of disrespect for the President’s responsibility as CIC.
