Vanguard Reports Record Number Of “Hardship Withdrawals” From 401ks

Joe Biden’s economy is devastating Americans.

Vanguard is reporting that a record number of Americans used hardship withdrawals from their 401ks in 2022.

A hardship withdrawal allows someone to access their 401K for an “immediate and heavy financial need.”

Fox13 reported:

A record-breaking number of Americans are making emergency withdrawals from their 401(k) retirement plans in order to cover a financial emergency as high inflation rages, according to new data from Vanguard Group.

About 2.8% of workers participating in employer-sponsored 401(k) plans made a so-called “hardship” withdrawal in 2022, according to data from Vanguard, which tracks about 5 million accounts. That marks a major increase from the 2% rate recorded before the pandemic began and is also up from the 2.1% reading in 2021.

Fiona Greig, global head of investor research and policy at Vanguard, said the high number of withdrawals is “evidence that some families may be feeling the pinch and drawing on their 401(k) balances to relieve that financial stress.”

Hardship withdrawals allow workers to tap their 401(k) for an “immediate and heavy financial need.”

Americans are having to pay more for essentials under Joe Biden.

CNBC reported:

Inflation turned higher to start 2023, as rising shelter, gas and fuel prices took their toll on consumers, the Labor Department reported Tuesday.

The consumer price index, which measures a broad basket of common goods and services, rose 0.5% in January, which translated to an annual gain of 6.4%. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for respective increases of 0.4% and 6.2%.

Excluding volatile food and energy, core CPI increased 0.4% monthly and 5.6% from a year ago, against respective estimates of 0.3% and 5.5%.

Trump was right — Joe Biden has been a disaster for Americans.

eFinancialCareers provided a snippet of the email that went out to employees:

"An individual employee, who has since left the firm and had legitimate access to your personal data at the time of their daily work, inappropriately copied this information without Credit Suisse authorization onto their personal device."

The email outlined that "salary and variable compensation" data between 2013-15 was taken. Also, bank account information to pay bonuses and salaries was copied onto the personal device.

Türkiye has message for other nations

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has thanked the countries that provided assistance after two terrible earthquakes

The assistance Türkiye has received from the global community following devastating earthquakes once again proves how important international solidarity is, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said. He addressed the participants of the World Government Summit in a video message on Tuesday.

The president stressed his country “will not forget the helping hand extended in difficult times,” as he thanked all of those who assisted in relief efforts after Türkiye was rocked by the disaster last week.

“Some states sent rescuers to Türkiye, some showed solidarity by initiating campaigns to collect aid. Some states have issued statements of support for Ankara,” noted Erdogan.

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck the province of Gaziantep in southeastern Türkiye on the morning of February 6, followed hours later by a magnitude 7.6 quake in nearby Kahramanmaras Province. The earthquakes wrought unbelievable destruction across nine Turkish provinces and in neighboring northern Syria. Relief efforts are still ongoing, with rescuers from around the globe flying in to help.

Erdogan said that a total of 13.5 million people in Türkiye have been affected by the earthquakes, which scientists have compared to the explosion of 500 atomic bombs. According to the president, that makes them not only one of the largest natural disasters ever in the country, but also in all of recorded history.

Turkish officials have yet to reach a final estimate of how many people lost their lives in the disaster, but the latest figures suggest that over33,000 people were killed.

However, Erdogan stated that a large number of the 81,000 people who were injured in the catastrophe have already been discharged from hospitals. He also said that some 8,000 people have been rescued from under collapsed buildings.

Meanwhile, the economic toll of the earthquakes has been estimated at a staggering $84 billion in Türkiye alone – over a tenth of the country’s GDP, according to a business group cited by Bloomberg.

FTC Commissioner Announces Resignation, Cites Biden-Appointed Chair’s ‘Abuse Of Power’

Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Commissioner Christine Wilson announced her resignation Tuesday in a Wall Street Journal column, saying she refuses to give Biden-appointed Chair Lina Khan’s “abuses of government power” legitimacy by staying with the agency.

Khan’s time as chair has sparked controversy since shortly after her appointment in June 2021, when Republicans began voicing concern about her alleged exclusion of Republican colleagues from aspects of antitrust enforcement. Wilson, prior to penning her resignation in the WSJ, was among those critical of Khan’s approach and testified before the Senate in September 2021, accusing Khan of tearing down “the FTC’s rich bipartisan tradition.”

Wilson wrote in her column that pushing back on Khan’s abuses became difficult because she “consolidated power within the Office of the Chairman” and was enabled by “senior FTC officials.”

Wilson pointed to Khan’s actions in the FTC’s challenge to Meta’s acquisition of virtual-reality gaming company Within.

“Before joining the FTC, Ms. Khan argued that Meta should be blocked from making any future acquisitions and wrote a report on the same issues as a congressional staffer,” she said. “She would now sit as a purportedly impartial judge and decide whether Meta can acquire Within. Spurning due-process considerations and federal ethics obligations, my Democratic colleagues on the commission affirmed Ms. Khan’s decision not to recuse herself.”

Wilson notes in her column that the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey showed 87% of surveyed FTC employees “agreed that senior agency officials maintain high standards of honesty and integrity” under Trump appointees in 2020, while only 49% do today. She said their discomfort is rooted less in policy than in the means Khan uses to accomplish her agenda.

“I disagree with Ms. Khan’s policy goals but understand that elections have consequences,” Wilson said. “My fundamental concern with her leadership of the commission pertains to her willful disregard of congressionally imposed limits on agency jurisdiction, her defiance of legal precedent, and her abuse of power to achieve desired outcomes.”

“While we often disagreed with Commissioner Wilson, we respect her devotion to her beliefs and are grateful for her public service,” the FTC responded in a statement Tuesday. “We wish her well in her next endeavor.”

'I have not called him back': DeWine suggests he turned down federal assistance for train wreck

The governor said that Ohio and the EPA are working to slow the flow of contaminated water.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine on Tuesday indicated that his administration had not accepted an offer of assistance to manage a catastrophic chemical train wreck that has been burning in a small town for the last several days.

The Republican governor made the claim during a press conference on Tuesday in which officials offered updates on the train derailment near East Palestine, Ohio, along the Ohio Pennsylvania border on Feb. 3, and the subsequent controlled burn that has generated intense concerns of chemical contamination from the crash site.

"Look, the president called me and said, 'Anything we can do'," DeWine said at one point. "I have not called him back after that conversation."

"We will not hesitate to do that if we are seeing a problem or anything, but I'm not seeing it," he added.

Authorities following the derailment on Feb. 3 elected to perform a controlled burn in order to disperse the dangerous chemicals at the site. DeWine on Tuesday said officials were concerned that one of the rail cars was going to explode.

The governor spoke sharply about the responsibility held by the rail company, Norfolk Southern, in addressing the crisis.

"Norfolk Southern is responsible for this problem," he said. "We fully expect them to live up to what the CEO committed to me, and that is that they will pay for everything."

"If they don't, we've got an attorney general here that will file a lawsuit," he added.

Deadly Marburg virus spreads in Africa, WHO increases health surveillance

There are no known treatments for this virus which has a fatality rate of88%

The World Health Organization is increasing its epidemiological surveillance in Equatorial Guinea after the country confirmed its first outbreak of the Marburg virus, a WHO official said on Tuesday.

The small Central African country has so far reported nine deaths as well as 16 suspected cases of Marburg virus disease, with symptoms including fever, fatigue and blood-stained vomit and diarrhea, according to the WHO.

"Surveillance in the field has been intensified," said George Ameh, WHO's country representative in Equatorial Guinea.

"Contact tracing, as you know, is a cornerstone of the response. We have…redeployed the COVID-19 teams that were there for contact tracing and quickly retrofitted them to really help us out."

Equatorial Guinea quarantined more than 200 people and restricted movement last week in its Kie-Ntem province after detecting an unknown hemorrhagic fever. The country officially declared its first outbreak of Marburg virus disease on Monday.

GOP senators exit intel briefing saying 'unity in confusion' on UFO origins, WH must inform public

A classified briefing was held Tuesday for senators on the Chinese spy balloon and the other 3 UFOs that were shot down

The Senate was briefed Tuesday on the four flying objects shot down over North America in the past two weeks, with three GOP senators saying afterward there's still "confusion" about the origins of three of them and that the White House needs to tell Americans everything it knows about the situation.

Louisiana GOP Sen. John Kennedy exited the intelligence briefing saying there's "unity in confusion," at least about the three UFOs taken down after the Chinese spy balloon.

Navy divers have recovered at least part of the other craft – a China surveillance balloon shot down Feb. 7 off the coast of South Carolina. The remnants are now reportedly with the FBI.

Kennedy said one problem with identifying the others – three UFOs – is that they were shot down over what he described as "very difficult terrain."

"Low temperature, lots of inclement weather," he said. "They're looking but they haven't been able to find them."

One craft was shot down Friday over Alaska, another was downed Saturday in the Yukon region of Canada and the last Sunday over Lake Huron.

Kennedy also made the case that Americans need more information about the situation, amid speculation among the public that extraterrestrials are involved. The White House assured the public yesterday that aliens are not behind the UFOs that were shot down.

"At a minimum, the director of national intelligence should go in front of the American people and explain what we know, what we don't know without divulging any classified information," Kennedy said. "We have unity in confusion."

Kennedy also said after the briefing that China has apparently used flying objects for intelligence gathering in the U.S. since at least 2017 and those who briefed the senators didn't fully explain why the matter is just coming to light now.

"Lock your doors tonight," he said.

Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan, a fellow Republican, also called on the Biden Administration to be more transparent with Congress and the American people.

Sen. Tom Cotton, and Arkansas Republican, called on President Biden to address the American public.

Donald Trump claims Democrats and Big Tech orchestrated Jan. 6 coverup in newly released statement

Donald Trump, whose third White House bid is underway, releases new statement on Big Tech collusion and Democrats' response to Jan. 6 with surprising details.

Former President and 2024 White House candidate Donald Trump released a new statement regarding Big Tech censorship and the events surrounding January 6, 2021 on Tuesday, saying the Democratic Party and various social media outlets colluded for years to keep his posts from the public eye.

"It was shockingly revealed that Twitter colluded with the FBI and other law enforcement agencies to Rig and Steal the 2020 Presidential Election in favor of Joe Biden, and to deplatform and illegally censor me," the statement provided to Just The News began. "As a key example of the corruption within the FBI, Special Agent Charles McGonigal, the head of the now fully 'debunked' Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, has recently been arrested for being 'paid off' by receiving large amounts of money from, get this, Russia. The Russia Witch Hunt was extremely detrimental to the Trump Campaign's effort to win the 2020 Presidential Election.

"I have been newly reinstated on Twitter and various other social media platforms, and my Tweets, which were taken down by Big Tech censorship, and thus seen by very few, have just been made public," Trump continued. "The highly partisan January 6th Committee did not want these messages to be part of the Historical and Legal Record, but they have now been fully restored—a sad shock to what I call the Unselect Committee of Political Hacks and Thugs."

The statement then showed two specific tweets Trump had posted, asking for a "peaceful" protest and for participants to support any law enforcement officials who were on the ground at the Capitol that day.

page2image317660384

"These Tweets were concealed from the public's view for almost two years, because the former executives of Twitter followed the wishes of Joe Biden and the FBI in censoring me, and cancelling my account," he added. "Now that these new Statements on Twitter and Facebook have emerged, having a widespread and very positive impact on me, it is paramount for all examining the events of January 6, 2021, to be aware of this new and irrefutable information, as nothing can be more obvious as to its meaning—a meaning that was withdrawn from the public by Twitter's censorship and the January 6th Unselect Committee's lack of effort to find them."

Trump also pointed out how he posted "parallel messages" to other social media platforms stressing peace and lawful behavior.

"The terribly biased January 6th Committee ignored this key part of the Legal and Historical Record, because the partisan members of that Committee did not want to acknowledge the fact that such Statements," because they would "exonerate" him.

Trump claimed he had initially recommended 10,000-20,000 National Guard troops be stationed at the Capitol on Jan.6, as large crowds were expected. He then chastised D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) — both Democrats — for shaking off his suggestion, due to potentially negative political optics. He then went on to say he met with Defense officials and that this "information is laid out in detail and corroborated in the Report by the Department of Defense's Inspector General."

Trump touched upon his video message from January 6th echoing his online statements as well. He accused the select committee charged with investigating the matter of doctoring and editing said clip for political purposes while masking the reality from the American people.

"My Statements encouraging peace and patriotism stand in stark contrast with other officials who have consistently and irresponsibly called for violence and extremism," Trump stated. He proceeded to list various left-wing Democrats, including Majority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) comparing their rhetoric to his, while saying how starkly different they are.

"There has never been any effort to hold these politicians responsible or accountable for their wrongful statements, despite the death and destruction caused," he added.

"These quotes do, again, fully exonerate me, and should put an end to the National nightmare of weaponized, targeted, and dangerous Witch Hunts and Hoaxes against a certain political Party, and me," the 45th president concluded.
