''Division deploys troops: Elements of 101st head to Europe in support of Joint Task Force Dragon''

fortcampbell-courier.com/news/article_9c08f734-8f61-11ec-8144-d3a7ea39da6b.html

Elements of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell deployed to the U.S. Army Europe area of operations Feb. 15 in support of Joint Task Force Dragon, a mission to assure NATO allies and partners in the region.

Soldiers across the installation have been preparing for the deployment since being placed on heightened alert on Jan. 27, and senior leaders are confident in the team’s ability to accomplish the task at hand.

“This is a great team, and great teams excel and thrive during periods of uncertainty,” said Maj. Gen. JP McGee, commanding general, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell, during a briefing ahead of the deployment.

“You’re going to go in there with a great, cohesive team. You’ve got great leadership, and I am looking forward to hearing how you all demonstrate professionalism as you pursue this mission,” he said.

Units from Fort Campbell are joining elements of the XVIII Airborne Corps already deployed to the region, and Command Sgt. Maj. Veronica Knapp, division senior enlisted adviser, encouraged the deploying Soldiers to stay focused on their mission and represent the Army to their fullest extent.

“As you head over to Europe, we’re going kind of into the unknown,” Knapp said. “I’m very proud to be standing here in front of you. I’m proud that we’re sending the right Soldiers out for this mission, and I know you all are going to do an outstanding job.”

The elements headed to Europe include both seasoned Soldiers and those deployed for the first time, like Pv2 Mark Berg Jr.

“[I am] nervous and excited at the same time because I’ve never been overseas before,” Berg said. “Since I’ve been here, I’ve had great leadership, they’ve helped me out a lot. There’s no place I’d rather be as of right now. All the installations have their ups and downs, but so far, I haven’t seen a single down here at Fort Campbell.”

Private First Class Zyan Sweet said his unit has been training on mission-critical skills for months at a time, and he is looking forward to putting them into practice on behalf of his country.

“You have a lot of opportunity, especially here on Fort Campbell, to grow as a person and not just as a Soldier,” Sweet said. “I’ve learned an exponential amount of new things, things I know that I’m good at now, and it’s prepared me a lot, especially for this mission set.”

McGee said maintaining that mindset will be an important factor in the Soldiers’ ability to accomplish their mission.

“You’re going to look back on this period of time for the rest of your life, and you’re going to ask yourself: ‘Did I do everything to support the mission?’” he said. “’ Did I support the chain of command? Did I support my buddy?’ So, it’s really, really critical that you conduct yourselves with the utmost professionalism, stick together as a cohesive team and you’re going to go and you’re going to dominate any mission that’s given to you.”

Derailment Update: Reliable source tells me train engineer has broken leg, broken ankle and gash on forehead that will require multiple stitches. Am told conductor on board has broken shoulder. Both at Erie County Medical Center. Sources tell me auto rack train was eastbound in Attica and that "washout" caused derailment. (Photo courtesy Tim Pohl)

Derailment Update (#2): Here's the latest I know from very reliable sources. The Norfolk Southern crew was badly injured, engineer realizes he and conductor are lucky to be alive. As the auto rack freight train was coming through Attica, "washout" was evident as the railroad ties were submerged,

ballast (crushed stone) likely washed away. They came around the curve and realized they were in trouble. I'm told it would be like a train's version of hydroplaning in a carthere's nothing they could do. The engine rolled over twice down a large embankment, maybe a 70-80 foot drop I'm told. Engineer was knocked out, woke up to two farmers trying to get them out. As far as injuriesengineer broke leg, ankle and has significant gash on forehead which will require multiple stitches. Source tells me conductor broke shoulder and may have broken back. (Photos sent to me from local volunteer fireman once crew was transported to hospital)

''Trump addresses train accident involving GOP House members at WH meeting''

UPDATED ON: JANUARY 31, 2018 / 8:56 PM / CBS NEWS

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/amtrak-train-crash-gop-lawmakers-crozet-virginia-today/

'' President Trump said a few words about the train accident involving members of Congress Wednesday as he held a White House meeting with American taxpayers. The train, which was carrying Republican members of Congress to their retreat at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, struck a garbage truck at about 11:20 a.m. in Crozet, Virginia. ''

The president said he had spoken with House Speaker Ryan after the crash and said members of Congress were "doing pretty good."

"The train accident was a tough one – tremendous jolt. And they're proceeding to their conference," the president said. He explained to reporters in the Oval Office that the train had hit a truck going at a "pretty good speed." Mr. Trump said he expects to have a "full report as to what it looks like" soon.

According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Transportation, there was "one confirmed fatality" caused by the accident. The president told reporters that the driver of the truck had been killed.

"It's very sad to see that. But they're going on to the conference and I'll be going to West Virginia – great state – I'll be going there. I'll be going tomorrow and we'll be together but it was a pretty rough hit. That's what they all tell me. A few of the folks. They say it was tough," he added. There were only a few minor injuries reported among the train passengers.

The president then welcomed a group of American workers to talk about how the administration's tax plan has impacted them directly.

"Since the passage of the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in December, more than 275 companies nationwide have announced bonuses, raises, expanded benefits, or new jobs as a result of the bill," White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters said in a statement before the meeting.

The meeting with U.S. workers followed Mr. Trump's first State of the Union address Tuesday evening, in which he touted the passage of the tax measure.

  • One short whistle means STOP.

  • One long whistle (three to 10 seconds) means the train is approaching a station.

  • Two short whistles mean that the engineer acknowledges that he or she heard or saw a signal that affects movement.

  • Three short ones mean that the engineer intends to make a reverse movement.

''The ‘DeSantis Is Trump Without the Baggage’ Crowd is in for a Rude Awakening''

americanthinker.com/articles/2023/02/the_desantis_is_trump_without_the_baggage_crowd_is_in_for_a_rude_awakening.html

February 15, 2023, By Matt Kane

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet a noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.” This group supported President Trump’s policies and felt he did a tremendous job as president, but now feel the baggage that came with Trump would not be present with Ron DeSantis. Many have taken this a step further and believe this baggage would give DeSantis (or others) a better chance of winning in a general election against the Democrat nominee than President Trump.

The first and most important angle to consider when analyzing this stance is the present reality of American elections. President Trump’s seemingly insurmountable election night leads in 2020, which were significantly larger than his leads throughout the night in 2016, somehow vanished into slim Biden victories. In other words: Without our corrupt election systems being corrected, it doesn’t matter who runs since the winner is predetermined. Trump didn’t cost us; the election was stolen. But for the sake of this discussion, we’ll say that our elections are free and fair.

Despite his alleged loss, Trump gained more than 12 million votes from 2016 (and likely more,) the largest increase in vote total for any sitting president in American history and the highest vote total by any presidential candidate ever, aside from Biden’s highly suspicious 81 million votes that same year. So, the media-manufactured Trump baggage has not had any negative impact on voter enthusiasm for Trump. Based on his vote increasing by millions, you could make the argument the baggage led to more people rallying to support him.

Prior to 2016, Conservative voter enthusiasm in the previous two presidential elections was abysmal. John McCain and Mitt Romney both lost convincingly to Barack Obama due in large part to their politically correct, low-energy approach to politics when conservatives were looking for the exact opposite.

The “Trump baggage” can be summarized as a combination of his brash style of politics and the never-ending war waged on him by the media. Ironically, Trump’s style was the change America sought, and his exposure to the corrupt media is what has kept him so popular. In essence, Trump is a product of the corrupt environment the media has created, and their hatred towards him makes him more popular. The “Trump baggage” is what was needed to move the needle enough for Trump to win states such as Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania that Republicans had not won since the 1980s.

Most of the baggage from the Trump presidency was completely manufactured by the media with the purpose of doing exactly what it is accomplishing to an extent now:

Diminish enthusiasm for Trump at any cost, no facts are needed. The goal was never to prove any of the false accusations against Trump. They knew this was impossible, they created them.

Instead, they wanted to spread the false accusations enough that people either began to believe them or became so fatigued with the smears that they would abandon him. The Russia collusion hoax, both impeachments, the Stormy Daniels saga, and the now-concluded Trump tax returns are just a few examples of baggage that, in reality, were purely propaganda exercises to take him down. If there were anything of substance that could truly take down Trump, it would have been revealed long ago.

If those examples are considered “too much baggage,” could you imagine the media frenzy with issues of actual substance?

Enter Ron DeSantis. To this point, it is obvious why the Florida Governor does not seem to have much baggage, and it isn’t because he has a squeaky-clean past. He currently has not declared a run for the presidency which is when most baggage is exposed (or manufactured.)

There already are accusations ready to be weaponized when the time comes. Important to note, as seen with Trump: truth and facts are not needed to create baggage.

If DeSantis chooses to run for president, whether that is in the next election or sometime down the road, his opponents (from both parties) and leftist media will have no shortage of ammunition to create baggage specific to him.

As Governor of Florida, DeSantis's image as a protector of school children and being an “anti-groomer” has gone unchallenged. His press secretary Christina Pushaw (more on her later) took to Twitter to categorize his signing of the Parental Rights in Education act as an “Anti-Grooming Bill.”

Recently, he has been accused of partying with his own female students when DeSantis was a 23-year-old teacher in Georgia in 2001. Photo evidence shows DeSantis surrounded by 3 girls holding what looks like an alcoholic beverage. For someone whose appeal is largely due to his reputation of protecting students from “groomers,” photo evidence of DeSantis having a little too much fun with his own pupils is an ironically awful look and certainly baggage fuel.

Shortly after his teaching stint, DeSantis began a military career where he was a Judge Advocate General (JAG) officer. The general consensus is that Liberals typically oppose wars more than Conservatives do. However, Conservative opposition to U.S. involvement in military conflicts has become more common than during other eras. This means accusations of DeSantis greenlighting cruel and inhumane forms of torture on detainees at Guantanamo Bay, including force-feeding detainees through a nasal feeding tube pushed down their throats while DeSantis allegedly watched in amusement, will eventually be addressed.

With the current, fragile state of foreign affairs, Americans now more than ever want to be sure the commander-in-chief is not being influenced by any foreign countries (such as now.)

The American perception of the Russia-Ukraine conflict is unique because while the majority of Americans oppose Putin and Russia, support for the U.S. to continue sending money to Ukraine is also dwindling. This is why DeSantis GOP opponents will undoubtedly question him on his Press Secretary, Christina Pushaw, who recently had to register as a foreign agent because of her paid work with, of all people, a Ukrainian politician named Mikheil Saakashvili.

She also shared a tweet in February of 2022 stating she supported Zelensky, was in Ukraine when Zelensky won the primary, and that a “big party” ensued. While U.S. support for Ukraine heavily outweighs support for Russia, having close ties to a foreign agent of a country the U.S. continues sending endless amounts of money to will certainly create baggage within the GOP should DeSantis choose to enter the race.

Try picturing the amount of baggage that would come with accusations of DeSantis drinking and partying with his own female students, alleged first-hand accounts about his role in inhumane forms of torture that violate international law, his former press secretary and current rapid response director registering as a foreign agent, and recently having warmonger John Bolton promote him. Again, allegations are all that is needed to create baggage, not facts. The baggage potential for DeSantis makes Trump look like peanuts.

So, if DeSantis does run, those pulling for him solely for baggage purposes will be severely disappointed. When DeSantis is faced with his own, two things are possible. He could cave and apologize under the pressure, which is the opposite of what Conservatives want. Or the more likely scenario would be him refuting, defending, or denying the attacks, which is exactly what President Trump has always done. But whichever response occurs, there is no scenario where DeSantis would be baggage-free. So, the “DeSantis is Trump without baggage” group must shift the question they ask themselves to this: Which of the two is better equipped to withstand the attacks?

There is no doubt the answer to that question is Donald Trump.

''Answers: Trump Transition data was passed to the CIA''

technofog.substack.com/p/answers-trump-transition-data-was

A friend makes an observation of an October 2021 Durham filing

Techno Fog, Feb 21, 2022

Last week, we documented Special Counsel John Durham’s motion discussing the potential conflicts of interest of Michael Sussman’s attorneys. That filing was important for a number of reasons, mainly because Durham stated that Sussmann’s client, Rodney Joffe (a federal contractor with access to “sensitive” data) “exploited” internet traffic data (domain name system, or DNS) pertaining to “the Executive Office of the President of the United States (“EOP”).”

We also asked why Joffe and Sussmann continued to push false allegations of Trump’s ties to Russia after the election. One could theorize that they made the Trump/Russia connection in the summer and fall of 2016 to hurt Trump politically. After all, the bogus story of a secret Alfa Bank/Trump Organization back-channel made it to Slate via Franklin Foer on October 31, 2016 – just before the November 8, 2016, presidential election, and not long after Sussmann went to the FBI to relay these same allegations.

But why continue to push a Trump/Russia hoax in February 2017?

It’s within the realm of possibilities that they wanted to continue to damage Trump, as this was the general goal of the political and bureaucratic establishment during the Trump years – especially in the early period when Trump’s political power and his ability to implement his agenda would be at its height. It’s why James Comey leaked classified memos through his lawyer, why there were leaks against Flynn in early January 2017, and why Kevin Clinesmith falsified a CIA e-mail so that the FISA warrants against Carter Page could continue.

Or, perhaps Sussmann and Joffe wanted to spur additional intelligence community investigations into Trump. It is accurate to say that they were desperate to prove Trump’s links to Russia. So desperate, in fact, that they were providing manipulated data to the federal government to further false Trump/Russia conspiracies.

And consider whether Sussmann took this information to the CIA on behalf of a type of “whistleblower,” allowing Joffe to remain nameless.

What did the CIA do with that information?

Did the CIA pass it to the FBI, allowing Joffe to theoretically keep his hands clean and his identity unknown?

All good questions. We don’t have the answers – yet.

1/

Anonymous ID: a0bfe8 Feb. 15, 2023, 2:56 a.m. No.18350824   🗄️.is 🔗kun   >>0908 >>0959 >>0979 >>0989

>>18350819

But there is an answer we do have. After Sussmann’s attorney responded to the Durham filing, stating that Sussmann provided the CIA with Executive Office of the President data from “when Barack Obama was president,” we theorized that this data was from the transition period because that’s when there would be access to Trump’s team:

If Sussmann’s attorney is telling the truth (never a given), then we suspect the Executive Office of the President data included that from the 74 day the Trump transition period (between the November 8, 2016 election and the January 20, 2017 inauguration) – which would still be spying on the incoming Trump Administration.

Then our friend Margot Cleveland reviewed a Durham filing in the Sussmann case from October 21, 2021 and put it all together:

Margot Cleveland @ProfMJCleveland

Yes, Joffe targetted the EOP during the transition period, per the Government's Response to Motion for Bill of Particulars.

As the October 2021 filing states:

That would confirm the data Sussmann and Joffe passed to the CIA was from the Trump transition period. While Washington and the press focus on January 6, the more dangerous and anti-democratic acts occurred in the shadows in 2016 and 2017. They didn’t seize the Capitol because they didn’t have to. The FBI and the CIA were willing to do their bidding, operating in secret to spy on and undermine the President.

Predictably, after Durham filed his motion the establishment/left media downplayed its significance in two ways.

First, Charlie Savage of the New York Times noted that the data from the Executive Office of the President “came from Barack Obama’s presidency.” That’s a curious way of saying the transition period – especially when the data involved those associated with Trump. (The content of the data being more important than the timing of the data.)

Second, Philip Bump over at the Washington Post condemned the reaction to the Durham allegations and claimed “it’s not clear that it [the Trump Tower, Trump Apartment, Trump Transition/EOP data] was or that it was used for any reason other than normal tracking of potential threats.” To say that, Bump must ignore the political motivations of Sussmann and Joffe, and disregard the findings that these allegations they brought – whether to the FBI or the CIA – were found to be baseless.

What these writers and publications are missing, of course, is the outright scandal of the CIA collecting information on a sitting president.

Before I close, let me say a few more words about Philip Bump, a national correspondent for The Washington Post. This is the same guy who, in 2019, downplayed the theory that “biased FBI agents and other officials used faulty information to target Page to spy on the campaign.” In reality, the FBI agents were biased, the information was faulty, and the campaign was spied on.

Bump’s problems go beyond indefensible conclusions about matters of public record. His writing is just as bad, evidencing deficiency of thought. He has a rich history of blunders. These are weekly occurrences for him, though I’ll focus on just one article.

When discussing questions regarding the hacking of the DNC server, for example, Bump stated “This server thing shows one direction of sprawl, and a narrow one.” But sprawl is defined as “to spread or develop irregularly or without restraint.” We call it “suburban sprawl” because suburban developments spread in every direction (the sprawl) from an urban center. Sprawl across your bed and you leave little room for your partner. “Narrow” sprawl doesn’t make sense.

Or consider this Bump-ism when discussing some of the Carter Page allegations:

“Fox News personalities such as Hannity and his cadre of guests were simply walking backward, trying to find a hole in the wall. This is the hole they found, and they ran with it.”

Think about that last sentence for a moment. How can you run with a hole in the wall?

You can’t.

And that, my friends, is The Washington Post.
