Maxine Waters: Congressional Corruption All-Star

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D- CA) has long had a troubled relationship with the rules. During the financial crisis, Waters used her high- ranking position on the House Financial Services Committee to help a bank she had a financial interest in. Waters admitted that she made calls to the Treasury Department on “OneUnitedʼs behalf”:

“In January, Ms. Waters acknowledged she made a call to the Treasury on OneUnited’s behalf. The bank’s capital, which was heavily invested in shares of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, was all but wiped out with the federal takeover of the two mortgage giants, and the bank was seeking help from regulators. OneUnited eventually secured bailout funds under the government’s $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program, which was set up later that month.”

The House Ethics Committee investigated Waters and her office, and eventually reprimanded her chief of staff, who happens to be her grandson. Watersʼ corrupt acts, throughout her time in Congress, have led her to be named one of CREWʼs most corrupt members in 2005, 2006, and 2009. Waters is one of the few members of Congress with a record of unethical dealings that can compare with Hillary Clintonʼs.

Maxine Waters Charged with Three Ethics Violations

Politics

AP

The House ethics committee today released three charges of ethical wrongdoing against Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California.

The charges relate to whether Waters gave inappropriate assistance to a bank to which she had personal connections in getting federal bailout money.

The committee says Waters organized a meeting in 2008 between Treasury officials and executives from OneUnited Bank, where her husband was once a board member and had large investments. The bank received $12 million from the federal government's Troubled Asset Relief Program.

The first charge against Waters states she violated a House rule that members must "behave at all times in a manner that shall reflect creditably on the House." Waters should have instructed her chief of staff to stop assisting OneUnited once it became clear she should not be involved in helping the bank, but she failed to do so, the charges state.

Her staff's "continued involvement in assisting OneUnited created an appearance that [Waters] was taking official action for [Waters'] personal benefit, which did not reflect creditably on the House," the charges state.

Waters was also charged with violating the "spirit" of the House rule that prohibits a member from receiving compensation for exerting improper influence from her position in Congress. Waters' husband's investments in OneUnited constituted compensation, according to the charges.

The congresswoman was also charged with violating the Code of Ethics for Government Service.

Waters, who serves on the House Financial Services Committee, has defended her request for the meeting between Treasury officials and OneUnited executives as part of her efforts to advocate on behalf of minority-owned businesses. She maintains she is innocent of any wrongdoing and would rather face a public trial before the ethics committee this fall than admit to any of the charges against her.

House Democrat Charlie Rangel was also charged with multiple ethics violations this summer and will stand trial before the committee in the fall

Democrat Maxine Waters Caught in Another Corruption Scandal

Near the end of March, we reported that longtime Democrat leader Alcee Hastings (D-FL) had become embroiled in a corruption scandal that saw him paying his girlfriend over $2.5 Million over the last 20 years.

Hastingsʼ girlfriend was his highest paid employee, even though she was not among his closest or most important staff members.

Now, news is breaking that another popular Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) has been discovered in a similarly troubling ethical conundrum.

The Washington Free Beacon is reporting that Karen Waters has been paid over $600K by her mother since 2006:

The daughter of Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) was paid nearly $70,000 by her mother’s campaign during the 2016 election cycle.

Karen Waters has been on the payroll of her mother’s campaign committee, Citizens for Waters, since 2006. She has pulled in more than $600,000 for her services since that time…

Karen pulled

in $65,287 overseeing the slate mailer operation in 2016, making her the third-largest recipient of Waters campaign funds that cycle. Karen, together with her firm Progressive Connections, has received over $600,000 in payments from the Waters campaign since 2006.

This isnʼt the first time that Waters has gotten herself into ethical hot water, in fact, itʼs happened several different times over the almost 30 years sheʼs been in Congress.

In 2010, Waters was brought up on three separate charges by her colleagues in the House, even after Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) warned her against getting involved in advocating for a bank in which she had financial interest.

The panel said Waters, who sits on the Financial Services Committee, broke a House rule requiring members to behave in a way that reflects “creditably” on the chamber. The committee said that by trying to assist OneUnited, she stood to benefit directly, because her husband owned a sizable amount of stock that would have been “worthless” if the bank failed.

The committee also accused Waters of violating the “spirit” of a House rule prohibiting lawmakers from using their positions for financial gain, as well as a government ethics statute banning the dispensing of “special favors.”

She also been tabbed by various government watchdogs as “one of the most corrupt” politicians in Congress. (See here and here.)

The point is, no one should be surprised by Watersʼ current difficulties because it is simply more of the same from someone who always seems to find herself in ethically questionable

Maxine Waters Held

$200,000 In Russia-

Linked Bank Accounts

May 19, 2017 Sean Adl-Tabatabai 2

Disgraced Democrat Maxine Waters held over $200,000 in Russia-linked retirement accounts in 2015, according to newly released documents.

Maxine Waters is spearheading the movement to have Trump impeached over his alleged ties to Russia – yet her own recent financial disclosures to the House of Representatives raise serious questions about her weird ties to Russia.

Got News reports: Watersʼs cash- grabbing shamelessness has never known bounds. In 2012, she barely squeaked through a three-year House Ethics Committee investigation after abusing her position to funnel $12 million in bailout money to her husbandʼs bank.

Her Russian investments will surprise no one in her district, where impromptu signs declaring the congresswoman a “poverty pimp” and a race baiter have been popping up for years.

Watersʼ 2015 disclosure statement details her familyʼs investments in BlackRockʼs Russia-connected Global Allocation and Balanced funds.

2015 SEC filings for both

funds advise of their involvement in Russian precious metals and securities:

A Fund may invest in the equity securities of companies that explore for, extract, process or deal in precious metals (e.g., gold, silver and platinum), and in asset-based securities indexed to the value of such metals. … The major producers of gold include the Republic of South Africa, Russia, Canada, the United States, Brazil and Australia. … A Fund may invest a portion of its assets in securities issued by companies located in Russia.

In the midst of a March meltdown comparing the Trump administration, the Ku Klux Klan and Russia, Waters told her Twitter followers to, “Follow the money.”

A Sept. 2015 BlackRock Balanced SEC filing reveals her fundʼs $2.8 million in obligations to the Russian Federation.

Plus, Watersʼ BlackRock Global fund held $3 million in Russian assets, at the same time her family profited!

On Thursday, GotNews exposed another Democrat conspiracy theorist, Virginia Senator Mark Warner, for his millions in Russian profits. Warner is obstructing a Trump anti-terror nominee until Warner gets personal financial documents from former Trump advisers.

Will the loony Democrats making up fantasies about Trump ever investigate their own Russian ties?

Especially as, this year, the investors handling Watersʼ retirement are excited to dump more client money into the land of Vladimir Putin.

From Forbes, Jan. 27:

Sorry haters, Russia has survived sanctions. It survived $35 oil. And it survived two years of recession. Say what you will about Vladimir Putin, Russiaʼs economic management team has got its stuff together. And for that reason, BlackRock says Russia is a buy.

“What gets all of the attention regarding Russia is the geopolitics. But for all the negative opinion you can have out there on Russia, from an economic standpoint itʼs been amazing. We are overweight Russian equities,” says Gerardo Rodriguez, a fund manager with BlackRock in New York.

Donʼt hold your breath for the suck- up “journalists” on Capitol Hill to ask Waters if she has divested from Russia.

The only thing imploding fast is the Trump Administration. Follow the money. Keep the focus on Trump's #kremlinklan and ties to Russia.
