It takes a tremendous amount of time and "deprogramming" to bring someone out of their belief system to a larger truth. Simple things like getting someone to actually read and examine their sacred scriptures, the history of these writings, the protagonists within the writings, who branded them as the authoritative writ, all without destroying their faith is painstaking and requires patience.
