The Fonda quote, and the widely used "rip them from their mothers arms," is very similar - if not directly invoking - the Jesuit extreme oath of induction:

A Christian doctor once convinced my aunt to stop taking her blood thinning medication, she died of a brain aneurysm, dead before she hit the floor.
Lots of things are poison, but I wouldn't take a Christian "doctors" word for it.
