Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said while in Saudi Arabia for an Arab League summit Friday, that some Arab leaders have turned a "blind eye" to the war with Russia.
"Unfortunately, there are some in the world and here among you who turn a blind eye to those [prisoner of war] cages and illegal annexations," Zelensky said in his speech, according to the BBC.
"I'm here so that everyone can take an honest look, no matter how hard the Russians try to influence, there must still be independence," he continued.
Zelensky is expected to travel from Saudi Arabia to the G7 summit in Japan, according to officials.
"Very important things will be decided there," Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said on Ukrainian television Friday.
"Therefore the physical presence of our president is absolutely important – to defend our interests, to explain, to provide clear proposals and clear arguments on the events that are taking place in our country," he added, according to CNN.
This will be Zelensky's first visit to Asia since the invasion from Russia last year.
