>AI discovers drugs to combat age-related health issues like Alzheimer's

Of those 21 candidates, the scientists zeroed in on three compounds – ginkgetin, oleandrin, and periplocin – which were able to remove defective cells without harming healthy ones when tested on human cells. The three compounds identified in the study, published in the journal Nature Communications, are natural products found in traditional herbal medicines.

screened 4300 compounds and came up with three… three that just HAPPEN to be known traditional herbal remedies.

jeepers… what would we do without AI? oh wait! i know…

we could just rely on the the accumulated wisdom of herbal healers that is older than recorded history.

if you read the journal article, it's actually NOT AI, unless you call finding the value of the square root of 3 with your pocket calculator AI.

the algorithm did NOTHING that the humans who programmed the computer couldn't have done on their own w/o a computer.

it simply did it faster. that's NOT AI, is just a computer doing what a computer does. follow instructions from human programmers.

IMHO, we are past the point that anyone who talks about or writes about AI need to be smashed in the face with a 2x4, until they stop.
