Republicans notch surprise win in Maine House special election after Dem resigns seat over forgery charges

 

Republicans in Maine scored a surprising victory this week after their candidate won a special election for the state House in a traditionally blue district.

 

On Tuesday night, Republican Abden Simmons, who formerly represented another district in the Maine House from 2016 until 2018, defeated Democrat Wendy Pieh, who also formerly served in the state House, 52% to 48% for a special election for state district 45. While four percentage points might represent a comfortable margin in some federal elections, in this case, it meant the difference of just 121 votes. Simmons earned 1,438 to Pieh's 1,317.

 

The Republican pickup will not affect the chamber too drastically, as Democrats still hold at least a 13-seat majority there. They also control the state Senate and the governor's mansion, currently occupied by Gov. Janet Mills. Still, the Republican Party is celebrating this modest victory since district 45, which covers some areas along the state's mid-Atlantic coast, has not voted for a Republican for president in more than two decades, and a neighboring district hasn't voted for a Republican presidential candidate since George H. W. Bush in 1988.

Asian Central Banks To Adopt Iran's SWIFT Alternative As De-Dollarization Accelerates

 

In the latest shot fired in the growing rebellion against US dollar dominance, the nine-nation Asian Clearing Union (ACU) has agreed to use Iran's financial messaging system as an alternative to the dollar-denominated SWIFT system that has long served as the globe's financial nervous system.

 

"The secretary general of the Asian Clearing Union (ACU) says Iran’s financial messaging system SEPAM will replace SWIFT, a dollar-based international system, in trade exchanges between ACU members beginning next month," Iran's IRNA News Agency reported.

 

At a Tehran summit in May, ACU members agreed to establish a SWIFT alternative within a month. The adoption of Iran's SEPAM will be an interim measure, as the ACU will develop its own messaging system over the next several months.

 

Established in 1974, the ACU now comprises the central banks of India, Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. Belarus and Mauritius applied for ACU membership at the May summit meeting.

CIA knew Russia wasn’t behind Nord Stream attack – WSJ

 

US media is coalescing around the theory that Ukraine planned on blowing up the pipelines

 

The CIA has known since at least October that Russia did not blow up the Nord Stream gas pipelines, the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. While the report claimed that the CIA had attempted to foil a Ukrainian-led plot to bomb the pipelines, a competing report alleges the agency actually carried out the demolition job.

 

The Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines were destroyed in a series of near-simultaneous explosions off the Danish island of Bornholm in late September. The blasts severed a key conduit for Russian natural gas to Europe, effectively removing the possibility of European countries lifting their sanctions on Moscow and restarting gas purchases.

 

While US President Joe Biden refrained from blaming Russia for the blasts, US Energy Secretary JenniferGranholm told the BBC that “it seems” like Moscow was to blame, while Ukraine has publicly and repeatedly accused Russia of sabotaging its own gas lines.

 

However, CIA Director WilliamBurns told “a European counterpart” in October that “available evidence didn’t point to Russia,“ the Wall Street Journal reported, citing an official present at the meeting.When asked if Ukraine was to blame, Burns reportedly answered “I hope not.”

 

According to the American newspaper, theCIA knew about a Ukrainian plot to bomb the pipelines earlier in 2022, but warned Kiev not to go through with the attack. The agency told its European counterparts in August that Ukraine had agreed and the threat had subsided, but both sets of Nord Stream lines were destroyed a month later.

 

The Wall Street Journal’s report was published a day after Dutch outlet NOS and Germany’s Die Zeit published similar articles claiming that American spies were tipped off by their Dutch colleagues about the alleged Ukrainian plot, and intervened to prevent it. According to earlier reporting by the New York Times and Der Spiegel, a “pro-Ukrainian group” actually managed to take out the gas lines, using a rented yacht to transport explosives to the blast site.

 

This entire sequence of events has been dismissed by American investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, who claimed in February that the Biden administration ordered the CIA to bomb Nord Stream with the help of the Norwegian Navy. Citing sources in US intelligence, Hersh claimed that the explosives were planted during NATO military drills in the Baltic Sea last June and triggered remotely three months later. Therented yacht story, Hersh said afterwards,was planted in the US and German media as a red herringby the CIA and its German counterpart, the BND.

 

(The US and EU want to blame it on Zelensky and Ukraine so they can force Ukraine to negotiating table, because they know Ukraine won’t win. They are leaking these reports to send a message to him.)

Middle School Students Stage Rebellion Against LGBTQ Indoctrination

 

Massachusetts, where the first shots of the American Revolution were fired, has now witnessed a revolt against LGBTQ indoctrination, staged by students at a public middle school.

 

The action took place on June 2 at Marshall Simonds Middle School in the suburban Boston town of Burlington, in response to a Pride-themed "spirit day" organized by the school's Spectrum Club, which is a group of LGBTQ students and their supporters.

 

The student body was encouraged to dress in rainbow colors and wear rainbow stickers. The school was decorated with Pride flags and posters, rainbow streamers, and "educational" posters.

 

However, according to a letter sent to parents from the school's principal, many students were not in the mood and created wait for it an "unsafe environment." Her list of "specific acts of intolerance" included:

 

"ripping of stickers and pulling down of banners"

"handmade signs were torn off the walls and crumbled into water fountains"

"groups of students were heard chanting 'U.S.A. are my pronouns'"

"students glaring intimidatingly at faculty members showing pride"

Reports indicate that some of the dissent sprang from the school's failure to acknowledge Memorial Day. In her letter to parents, Perchase acknowledged that it her staff had made an "error." Many students wore red, white and blue on the Pride day, with some taking their patriotic display to the next level with face paint.

 

Parent Christine Steiner told WCVB that her daughter was offended by an "educational" poster that crossed the line from promoting tolerance of LGBTQ people to taking a shot at straight ones. The poster featured a quote from Tennessee Williams: "What is straight? A line can be straight, or a street, but the human heart, oh, no, it's curved like a road through mountains." It also depicted two people waving rainbow flags; adhering to the woke rulebook, both were non-white.

Republicans Question Murky Origin of $10M on Biden 2017 Tax Return

As more and more questions arise about President Joe Biden’s possible link to a $5 million bribery plot, scrutiny around a 2017 tax return is also garnering some attention from GOP lawmakers looking into the alleged scheme. And while Joe Biden has claimed total transparency regarding the release of tax returns, new details are coming to light.Those details include income of $10 million to a Biden S-Corporation. As Presidential candidates do, on September 29, a few weeks before the 2020 presidential election, then-candidate Joe Biden released 22 years of tax returns.A USA Today “fact check” showedwhat happens to many former Presidents and Vice Presidents, an increase in income once they leave office. Biden’s tax returns show a gross income between 2017 — when he left the office of Vice President — and 2019 of $15.6 million, attributed to speaking fees and book deals.

 

But Joe Biden’s transparency over his tax returns may not be all it’s cracked up to be. The $15.6 million number is broken down this way: $10 million from sales of Biden’s memoir “Promise Me, Dad,” and $3 million from a book penned by now-First Lady Jill Biden, including royalties and $700,000 in speaking fees.The question of transparency comes into play when we learn that Joe Biden only released individual tax returns. The Individual returns are completely separate from the S-corporations the Bidens set up shortly after Joe Biden left the office of the Vice President. Those numbers tell a whole other story.Of the $17 million of income reported after Biden left office, two S-Corporations, CelticCapri Corps and Giacoppa Corps, contained roughly $13 million as of 2017.

 

Republican lawmakers want to know more about the Bidens’ S-corps income. Sen. Ron Johnson, who co-authored a 2020 report on the Bidens’ income, stated that Joe Biden needs to disclose the source of the income: “Biden should disclose and every member of the press ought to hound him until he does.” Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), said that Biden needs to release bank records if he wants to appear transparent. She referenced a recent incident where reporters asked Biden about the ongoing bribery investigation and he laughed it off. Mace said:

 

The President seems to find selling out our country funny. We don’t. If he’s serious about proving our allegations wrong he should release his and his family’s unredacted bank records and show the American people where all this money is coming from. The FBI can’t protect him forever.

 

The harshest condemnation of Joe Biden’s financial practices came from Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ), who agreed with Johnson and Mace, and stated that Biden needs to release all his financial information, especially in light of the ongoing bribery investigation. Crane did not hold back:

 

The fact that there arecredible claims signaling that a foreign national bribed the President of the United States with cash in exchange for influence over U.S. policy decisions is appalling. The American people deserve to know who paid the Bidens and what exactly they were paid for.

Crane also referenced recent revelations that an executive at the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, whose board Hunter Biden sat on, and who allegedly paid the Bidens, has audio recordings of conversations with both Joe and Hunter Biden, and also the indictment on Tuesday of former President Donald Trump. He added:

 

Now that we know there are recordings of conversations Joe Biden and his degenerate son had with a Burisma executive, it’s becoming more andmore obvious how the indictment of President Trump is meant to be a distraction. It would shock no one in this town if Joe Biden received millions of dollars from selling out the country in a bribery scheme and then hid that money in shady shell companies.

Jerry Allison is a CPA at Allison Financial Services, and says that it is quite common for personal tax returns not to list income items from S-Corps. He added:

 

It is my opinion that both S Corporation returns should be examined to find the actual amount of income and to obtain clues as to where the income may have originated.The S Corporation returns might reveal other entities from which the income may have originated.

The House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Devon Archer, to testify this week. If Joe Biden is unwilling to unravel the tale of the Biden S-Corporations,Devon Archer may be willing to do it for him.

Dads’ ‘Toxic Masculinity’ Protects Kids From Pedophiles

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Green Beret combat veteran and dad of three Nick Freitas shared with his followers a 2017 WRTV Indianapolis interview with Jack Reynolds, a pedophile who targeted children in the 1980s and spent 12 years in prison for it.

 

In the interview, Reynolds was asked what “characteristics” he “looked for in children before molesting them.” Reynolds responded by saying it was a child’s family that mattered more than the actual child. “If I thought the father was a threat, I would not approach the child,” he said.

 

“And I would say it tells us one more thing that’s very interesting,” Freitas continued. “There’s a lot of people right now that seem hellbent to have sexual conversations with our children without our knowledge. Those are the same people telling us that the very things that make you a threat are manifestations of toxic masculinity. So maybe we shouldn’t listen to those people.”

 

Freitas is spot on. The same people who are sexualizing American children by promoting outlandish “pride” celebrations in public schools, drag queen story hours, LGBT “kids” books with pornographic content, and mutilative “transition” surgeries for minors, are also the people vilifying the masculine virtues by which strong men protect children from predators.

 

While purporting to be about “inclusivity,” the transgender cult enables sexually deviant men who enjoy parading in front of children in suggestive women’s clothing. Simultaneously, the movement’s war on natural masculinity and femininity seeks to neutralize good men from standing in the way.

 

The stakes have never been higher, but the war on masculine virtue has never been more brutal. Recall 24-year-old Marine veteran Daniel Penny, who put his life on the line last month to protect New York subway riders from Jordan Neely, a disturbed homeless man who was reportedly shouting “I’ll hurt anyone on this train.”

 

For stepping in and protecting fellow train riders, Penny has been maligned by the left and the corporate media as a racist murderer, and he has been charged by Soros-installed New York City prosecutors with second-degree manslaughter.

 

What happens when men are so fearful of ending up like Penny that they suppress their masculinity and cower to criminals instead of stopping them? The answer is people get hurt. Just watch this altercation on a different New York City train, where every man stands by and does nothing as a woman is punched in the face

 

The idea that suppressing masculinity will somehow make the world safer is one of the greatest lies the left has ever told. Bad actors don’t respect weak, woke men; they take advantage of them.

 

What happened to Daniel Penny is a perfect example of how our culture demonizes masculinity, thereby encouraging men to repress things like physical strength, leadership, assertiveness, and courage. But the only way to deter harassers like Neely and sexual predators like Reynolds is for men to embrace their masculinity.

 

That can be hard in 2023. Masculine men are labeled toxic and they risk the fate that Penny is facing. But these are sacrifices and risks men have to make because their loved ones, particularly their children, depend on it.

Creator Of Conservative Chatbot Powered By ChatGPT Says OpenAI Tried To Censor Content

 

The creators of a conservative chatbot powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT announced that they shut down the chatbot because of pressure from OpenAI to censor the bot’s responses.

 

The conservative chatbot, named GIPPR in honor of the late President Ronald Reagan, debuted in May and is part of TUSK, a pro-free speech and anti-censorship web browser.

 

GIPPR is a modified version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT and provides users with answers from a conservative perspective.

 

The creators of GIPPR said they were forced to sever ties with OpenAI, after they were told that their chatbot failed to “conform to their requirements for what can or cannot be said.”

 

TUSK founder and CEO Jeff Bermant said in a statement to Fox Business that OpenAI told him that GIPPR was not in compliance with its policies, which were “specifically related to deceptive activity and coordinated inauthentic behavior” and that they needed to “keep users and third parties safe.”

 

The actions of OpenAI appear to many conservatives as another example of attempted censorship from the left.

 

“The GIPPR bot had been modified to not be highly biased in favor of a leftist agenda, something which seems to be of critical importance to the original creators of ChatGPT,” Bermant said in the statement.

 

“Tusk had produced the only AI bot in operation which actually was fair and balanced and did not promote a radical leftist agenda.”

 

TUSK said it is currently exploring how to make GIPPR operational again and urged users to help them to support defending free speech on the internet.

 

“Until they find a solution to get it back online, the world of AI will remain highly unbalanced,” Bermant added.

LIMA, June 14 (Reuters) - Peruvian archaeologists have discovered an approximately 3,000-year-old mummy in Lima, they said on Wednesday, the latest discovery in the Andean nation dating to pre-Hispanic times.

 

Students from San Marcos University and researchers initially found remains of the mummy's hair and skull in a cotton bundle during excavation, before uncovering the rest of the mummy.

 

The mummy was probably from the Manchay culture, which developed in the valleys of Lima between 1500 and 1000 BC, archaeologist Miguel Aguilar said, and was associated with the construction of temples built in a U-shape that pointed toward the sunrise.

 

The person "had been left or offered (as a sacrifice) during the last phase of the construction of this temple," Aguilar said. "It is approximately 3,000 years old."

 

Archeologists unearthed other items buried with the body, including corn, coca leaves and seeds, which they believe may have been part of an offering.

NBC News punchline Ben Collins was given a Cronkite Award this weekend for his “honesty” and reporting, a true sign journalism is dying.

 

If you ever want to see the sad state of journalism in the country these days you need only to look over the spate of journalism awards handed out and the recipients of these honors. There is consistency and uniformity in the process as anyone even close to the center — to say nothing of a crossover to conservative coverage — is rarely if ever honored. But this weekend, we saw something that cemented the sad state of this industry.

 

On Saturday, the National Press Club handed out its Walter Cronkite Awardsfor Excellence in Television Political Journalism. The running theme throughout the proceedings was the battle against disinformation, with advance copy from the ceremony declaring they would honor some of the best journalists on TV who are imperturbably digging for truth, combating deception and defending democracy.

 

It is with this theme in mind that one particular honoree is a curious selection. Or a puzzling selection. Or, most accurately, an utterly hilarious and completely invalidating selection. Amid the assembly line of journalists who took the podium was Ben Collins of NBC News, and this was all that was needed to see what a sheer farce this ceremony has become. Honoring Collins for any recognition in the business is questionable, but to hold up this serial fabulist as anything resembling a shining example of truth-based journalism is undiluted comedy.

 

Where to begin? Well, one of the prevailing reasons that Collins was citedexposes both him, as well as the vacancy of the journalism standards of this group. Specifically mentioned was his work surrounding the shooting that took place in Colorado Springs.

 

Judges praised the NBC News senior reporter’s “brilliant, brave work.” “It’s inspiring to watch Collins” cover stories like the racist manifesto of the Buffalo shooter or the anti-trans campaigns in the lead-up to the Club Q shooting, “bearing witness to the extremism on the dark web” and “holding it accountable.”

Collins spent quite a bit of energy explaining how the Q-Club shooter had to have been the result of anti-LGBT𝜋 sentiment (something the Cronkite board highlighted). He laid out a number of examples as “proof” of his theory that right-wing media was responsible, and was all over the news explaining his position. Then it was all blown apart when it was discovered the shooter was declared to be non-binary. Even dismissing it as a gambit to evade punishment was washed out when it was learned this was declared years earlier.

 

Ben Collins shifted his stance on a dime with this revelation.

 

How the NPC still alludes to this event in this way is more amazing, as these journalists know the facts of this story months after the event. Yet they still cling to an original narrative. What you have to absorb is that Collins spent days blaming conservatives for the shooting, then, the moment he learned the shooter’s self-identification, his stance was wholly renovated, and then he dropped the story entirely…..

 

These are deeply disqualifying episodes that should lead to Collins not even being considered for praise, but they are hardly isolated instances. NBC’s professional prevaricator had a number of other cases of him displaying an aversion to the facts and the truth, the very thing the NPC is supposed to be celebrating. For instance, Collins:

 

Called the Libs of TikTok “anti-LGBT” for merely retweeting already tweeted posts.

Claimed that Elon Musk Taking over Twitter would endanger the election and our democracy.

Stated that Elon Musk was apathetic towards curbing voices and it could lead to post-election violence. (None occurred, of course.)

Steadfastly refused to look into revelations from the Twitter Files, while draping himself as an online guru concerning misinformation.

But there is one other glaring example of how ridiculous it is for this cabal of journalists to award Ben Collins for excellence in his reporting. The man’s hysterical wrongness in his reporting was what led to him being suspended by his own network! Just before Christmas, NBC News placed Collins on leavefollowing his unhinged coverage of Elon Musk being injected with too much personal animus.

 

But today, he is heralded by his peers over his supreme quality, high-grade adherence to the truth and journalism ethics. Just…ignore his track record of being wrong and refusing to correct the record when it transpires.

Government to terminate lease for new Russian embassy

 

A lease held by the Russian Federation for an embassy adjacent to Parliament House will be cancelled by the federal government.

Key points:

 

Russia planned to build a new embassy on land very close to the federal parliament

The prime minister said the planned embassy posed a national security threat

The Coalition has offered the government support to terminate the lease

 

The Australian government introduced a bill to parliament on Thursday morning that would terminate the Russian embassy's lease — a move which has the support of the opposition.

 

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the lease was directly adjacent to parliament and the government had received advice that having Russia lease the land presented a clear security risk.

 

"We're acting quickly to ensure the leased site does not become a formal diplomatic presence," Mr Albanese said.

 

The legislation gets around a Federal Court decision last month that invalidated an eviction order by the National Capital Authority.

 

Mr Albanese said the decision was made at a meeting of the government's national security committee at the end of last month, and that Home Affairs Minister Clare O'Neil would introduce the bill today to force the lease cancellation.

 

"This action is absolutely necessary to protect Australia's national security interests — something that this parliament and our government will never shy away from," Ms O'Neil told the parliament.

 

She said the termination of the lease would have no impact on Russia's existing embassy in the ACT.

 

It took just four and a half minutes for the bill to be introduced and passed through the House of Representatives. It still needs to pass the Senate to become law.

 

"There is a real risk to our national interest here," Shadow Defence Minster Andrew Hastie said.

 

"The security advice is that this lease must be terminated and therefore we support this bill."

 

Mr Albanese said the National Security Committee of Cabinet signed off on the cancellation on May 31 and he briefed the opposition and crossbench politicians prior to announcing the decision.

 

"We're dealing with this very specifically and it's based upon very specific advice as well about the nature of the construction that's proposed for this site, about the location of this site, and about the capability that that would present in terms of potential interference with activity that occurs in this Parliament House," he said.

19 new bodies recovered in Kenya doomsday cult, pushing death toll past 300

 

The death toll in an investigation linked to a Kenyan cult that practiced starvation to "meet Jesus Christ" has surpassed 300 after 19 new bodies were found Tuesday, a senior official said. Police believe most of the bodies found in a forest near the Indian Ocean town of Malindi belong to followers of Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, a taxi driver-turned-preacher who has been in police custody since April 14.

 

He is due to face charges of "terrorism" in the case which has rocked the East African nation.

 

"The death toll has now risen to 303 after the 19 bodies were exhumed," regional commissioner Rhoda Onyancha said.

 

The toll remains provisional, and the authorities in the East African country fear the true number of dead could be much higher. The search for mass graves is still underway in the Shakahola forest, where the first victims some dead, others alive but weakened and emaciated were discovered on April 13.

 

Since then, the series of grim discoveries have revealed a macabre scandal, dubbed the "Shakahola forest massacre". More than 600 people have been reported missing by concerned relatives.

 

Police believe that most of the bodies exhumed were those of Good News International Church followers, an evangelical sect founded in 2003 by the self-proclaimed "pastor" Mackenzie, who advocated fasting until death in order to "meet Jesus".

 

The 50-year-old founder of the Good News International Church turned himself in on April 14, after police acting on a tip-off first entered Shakahola forest. While starvation appears to be the main cause of death, some of the victims including children were strangled, beaten or suffocated, according to chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor.

 

Questions have been raised about how Mackenzie, a father of seven, managed to evade law enforcement despite a history of extremism and previous legal cases.
