"Organized retail crime" was allowed to take off by permissive attitudes towards shoplifting and high inflation. NOW they want to punish online sellers by demanding "government ID" and other information about small scale sellers. When has that a requirement for selling items before? Just more roll out of the control grid, imo.
Online marketplaces will have to acquire and verify a seller’s bank account numbers, government-issued identification, tax identification numbers as well as contact information.
I'd like to see the script flipped. Demand "government" to identify why we should pay any attention to it at all. If it isn't by of and for "We the People" it simply isn't our "government". If it can't prove it is legitimate and elections secure then it is obviated.
