In one of her final swan songs as the head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Dr. Rochelle Walensky issued a warning to the American people: Be on guard against misinformation and the politicization of science.

The advice might seem ironic coming from an agency frequently accused of misinformation and the politicization of science.

In one of her final interviews as director of the CDC, Walensky told The Wall Street Journal that she hopes Americans will make health decisions based on “their own risk assessment and their own personal risks, but not through politics,” a sentiment that should have ideally guided her leadership.

Walensky’s fraught tenure was characterized by an evident lack of strong leadership and inconsistent messaging. Critics argue that her leadership, or lack thereof, appeared to be influenced by politics, leading to a quarter of Americans distrusting the CDC’s health recommendations, according to a 2022 survey.

Kennedy appeared to be referencing a memorandum to executive-branch department and agencies released Friday from the White House.

The Biden release noted that “[i]n light of the recommendation for continued postponement of public release of information in the records identified in section 2(b) of this memorandum under the statutory standard, I hereby certify, by the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including section 5(g)(2)(D) of the Act, that continued postponement of public disclosure of that information is necessary to protect against identifiable harms to the military defense, intelligence operations, law enforcement, and the conduct of foreign relations that are of such gravity that they outweigh the public interest in disclosure.”

For Kennedy, the claim that there is still “identifiable harm” related to releasing information about an event so long ago made no sense, and he reacted accordingly.

“The assassination was 60 years ago,” he wrote in one Twitter post. “What national security secrets could possibly be at risk? What are they hiding?”

Mossad tracking foreigners in Türkiye – media

News channel A Haber has claimed that Turkish intelligence officials detained seven suspected Israeli covert-action operatives

Turkish authorities have uncovered a network of Mossad agents in the country, news channel A Haber has reported. The suspected Israeli intelligence operatives had allegedly been gathering information on foreign nationals residing in Türkiye.

The media outlet claimed on Monday that Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) had for months been monitoring the clandestine activities of the Israeli intelligence services.

Seven people have reportedly been detained as a result, with all of them admitting to working for Mossad, Israel’s national intelligence agency. A total of 56 individuals comprising nine cells are believed to be involved, A Haber reported.

According to the channel, their supposed tasks included tracking certain foreign citizens living in Türkiye, using GPS devices, wi-fi and password-capturing tools.

On top of that, the alleged network, whose operational base is thought to be in Tel Aviv, were setting up fake websites in various languages, including Arabic, to lure their victims and make them reveal their personal details, location and IP addresses, the article claimed.

The suspected Mossad agents also allegedly used fake news websites, with stories selected specifically to grab the target’s attention, A Haber reported. On clicking an infected link, the unsuspecting target would allegedly give access to their cell phone to a Mossad spyware program.

The Turkish outlet is also claiming that the supposed spies and their Israeli handlers had utilized hundreds of disposable internet data lines belonging to fictitious individuals from Spain, England, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, Indonesia and Belgium for communication purposes .

On top of their alleged operations inside Türkiye, the alleged Mossad operatives, most of whom are presumably Turkish residents of Arab origin, had also been sent on intelligence-gathering missions to neighboring Syria and Lebanon, the report suggested.

It cited one such case, in which a Mossad operative had allegedly obtained the coordinates of a building in Lebanon that was housing high-profile figures from the Hezbollah militant group.

The news channel claimed that the Israeli intelligence service had been training its would-be agents in Thailand. To cover their tracks, the supposed Mossad operatives would take a devious route, flying first to Serbia, then to Dubai and finally arriving in the South-Asian country, A Haber reports.

Now the Argentinean pontiff has selected a controversial countrymen for one of the most powerful posts in the Ecclesiastic Hierarchy, in a move that generated protest in sectors both inside and outside the Church.

“Pope Francis on Saturday chose a bishop who is a trusted theological advisor from his native Argentina for one of the Vatican’s most powerful positions — head of the watchdog office that ensures doctrinal orthodoxy.

Francis named Monsignor Victor Manuel Fernández, the archbishop of La Plata, Argentina, as the prefect, or chief, of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.”

The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), is the successor of the Inquisition. It’s a powerful post, that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger held by two decades, before he became Pope Benedict, in 2005.

“The Dicastery, or department, enforces orthodoxy of church teaching and disciplines theologians deemed to have strayed from Catholic doctrine in their lectures or publications. But it has taken on considerably more importance to rank-and-file faithful as the stain of pedophile priests spread across the globe in recent decades. Among the department’s duties are evaluating and processing sex abuse allegations against clergy.”

Fernández, believed to have ‘ghost-written’ some of Francis’ most important documents, is set to take up his new post in mid-September. Meanwhile, protests are arising.

BishopAccountability.org, a Massachusetts organization that maintains an online archive of abuse in the Roman Catholic Church, is sounding the alarm.

“A U.S.-based group that tracks how the Catholic hierarchy deals with allegations of sexual abuse by clergy says Pope Francis made a ‘troubling’ choice in appointing an Argentine prelate to a powerful Vatican office that handles such cases.”

In 2019, Fernández ‘refused to believe’ victims who accused a priest in the La Plata archdiocese of sexually abusing boys, and disregarded the accusations.

That is disturbing, for a bishop set to have the responsibility of judging and punishing priests who abuse children.

“Francis ‘made a baffling and troubling choice’, the group said in statement emailed late Saturday in the U.S., citing how Fernández handled the case.

‘In his response to allegations, he stoutly supported the accused priest and refused to believe the victims’, BishopAccountability.org said. Fernández ‘should have been investigated, not promoted to one of the highest posts in the global church’.”

And the criticism also comes from inside the church, as many conservative catholic have reservations about his theological work and his adherence to the orthodoxy he is to defend.

Catholic news site The Pillar reported:

“Fernández is the author of more than 300 theological works, including the 1995 ‘Heal me with your mouth. The art of kissing’, which was not included on the list of his publications released July 1 by the Vatican.

The Holy See press office said that the archbishop’s writings were marked by ‘a significant biblical basis and a constant effort to create a dialogue between theology and culture, evangelizing mission, spirituality, and social issues’.”

That a book like that is inappropriate for a man in his position is half-admitted by Fernández himself in the first paragraph of his book: “I want to clarify that this book was not written so much based on my own experience, but based on the lives of people who kiss. In these pages I want to synthesize the popular feeling, what people feel when they think of a kiss, what mortals experience when they kiss.”

Major benefactors to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis – Morteza ‘Mori’ Hosseini and his wife Forough – have donated tens of thousands of dollars to a political action committee (PAC) funding the Democratic Party leaders, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the lead impeachment manager against former President Donald J. Trump, Jamie Raskin.

Hosseini’s donations to the Iranian American Political Action Committee – Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) span from 2004 to 2011, under his name, as well as aliases “Morteza Hosseini Kargar”, and “Morteza Hosseini-Kargar“. During the same period, the PAAIA PAC funded various Democrat groups, including Friends of Hillary (Clinton) and Friends of (Anthony) Weiner.

To the extent the group has given money to Republicans, the sums appear far smaller, and the donations have ended up in the pockets of groups supporting former Republican leader Paul Ryan, neoconservative Dan Crenshaw, and Never Trumper Ben Sasse.

Far and away, the group – which brags of its work with globalist, D.C. think tanks – donates mostly to Democrats including massive sums of cash to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

PAAIA itself appears to have been openly critical of Trump’s travel ban, as well as slamming the 45th President for ending the Iran deal (the JCPOA) which enriched Iran’s Islamist regime under the false pretense of slowing nuclear weapons development in the nation.

And Hosseini’s association with the PAC did not end in 2011, when his name disappeared from the donations list. Instead, his wife Forough, recently appointed by DeSantis to the Florida Children and Youth Cabinet in 2019, currently serves as the Board Chair of PAAIA, and remains a contemporaneous donor.

Hosseini often lets Governor DeSantis and his wife use his private jet, and was brought to the attention of The National Pulse by DeSantis staffer Christina Pushaw and Jeremy Redfern, after the pair publicly panicked about a report into a $92 million COVID cash dump from DeSantis that aid Hosseini’s property developments.

Pushaw has gone so far as to dispute accurate descriptions of Hosseini as “Iranian”, complaining that “by ‘Iranian,’ they mean an American citizen, of Iranian heritage.” Hosseini’s own biography boasts of his Iranian birth, and he has been featured on websites such as ‘IamIranian.com’ since 2011.

At Least One Person Dead in Fiery Small Plane Crash in South Carolina Beach Resort

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.—A single-engine plane carrying five people crashed Sunday near a golf course in the South Carolina coastal resort community of North Myrtle Beach, killing at least one person, police and federal officials said.

The Piper PA-32 went down northwest of the city’s Grand Stand Airport shortly after 11 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that confirmed five people were aboard.

North Myrtle Beach police spokesman Patrick Wilkinson said initially that there was at least one death and one other person taken to a hospital, the Myrtle Beach Sun News reported.

A North Myrtle Beach police dispatcher, contacted by The Associated Press, said she had no further information later Sunday and that no spokesperson was immediately available to provide further updates on the dead or injured.

The newspaper reported the plane went down in a fiery crash near a golf course in an area called Barefoot Landing, prompting police, fire and other emergency vehicles to rush to the site.

The paper quoted a visitor to the area, Iris Gaines, as saying she spotted the plane flying “sort of crazy like” with one of its wings higher than the other just before the crash. “It was so close over this condo,” she told the newspaper.

Wilkinson said the aircraft was fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency crews arrived, and the paper reported some trees appeared to be down along a road near the crash site.

The FAA said in a statement said the National Transportation Safety Board will lead an investigation into the crash. The FAA had no other information on where the plane departed from or where it was headed.

AFP reports Turk told a U.N. Human Rights Council debate on food availability that extreme weather events were wiping out crops, herds and ecosystems, challenging communities and their ability to rebuild and support themselves.

The Austrian lawyer turned U.N. official said the time has come for everyone to heed the unelected body and address the long list of concerns it sees as threatening the very existence of the planet.

His message from Geneva, Switzerland, follows a common theme of recent U.N. calls for the world to change its ways while shunning those who disagree or cast doubt on “climate science.”

“More than 828 million people faced hunger in 2021. And climate change is projected to place up to 80 million more people at risk of hunger by the middle of this century,” said Turk.

He then added an ominous vision of the future, saying “Our environment is burning. It’s melting. It’s flooding. It’s depleting. It’s drying. It’s dying,” all while evoking a “dystopian future” for humanity.

Turk declared action is needed not just for today, but for the future to spare “hunger and suffering to our children, and their children. And we don’t have to.”

Three Israelis and two others given jail terms; extradition requested for remaining suspects in Israel of ‘GetFinancial Group’

Three Israeli men, including a Kfar Saba father and son, were recently sentenced to prison in Regensberg, Germany, over their involvement in an online investment scam that prosecutors say defrauded victims out of tens of millions of euros.

Nadav Gover, 35, Yaakov Gover, 62, and Yuri Dashevsky, 35, pleaded guilty to masterminding a criminal ring that defrauded investors around the world out of an estimated 77 million euros ($83 million) from 2015 to 2021.

According to German prosecutors, call centers operated by the so-called GetFinancial Ring in Israel and Europe pressured victims into various investments, but instead of putting clients’ money in the markets, the convicted men used the money to run their call centers and internet trading platforms while keeping the remainder of the money for themselves.

Israel to bring 1,000-person delegation to COP28 climate conference in Dubai

At the COP 28 conference in Dubai, Israel is looking to take charge and be a global leader in the fight against climate change.

Israel will invest NIS 8 million to bring a delegation of 1,000 people and more than 100 Israeli climate and related technology companies to Dubai at the end of November for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 28, according to the Foreign Ministry.

On Monday, representatives from the public and business sectors, academia, and civil society gathered at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem to discuss ideas and potential collaborations before COP 28, which runs from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai.

Some 80,000 people from 198 countries are expected to attend the event.

The Economy Ministry is leading the selection of 30 companies, including many start-ups, to present their ideas in the Israeli pavilion, which will be marketed under the tagline “Climate of Innovation.” More than 100 companies will travel to Dubai with the Israel Export Institute and participate in meetings and side events.

Throughout the two-week conference, Israel will participate in around 70 events, explained Maya Kadosh, Israel’s national coordinator for COP 28, including some events on the main stage. The country will also invest heavily in public relations, she said.
