US judges halt healthcare bans for transgender youth

 

July 3 (Reuters) - In state after state, conservative lawmakers this year have banned medical procedures for transgender youth. Now, a growing number of federal judges are blocking those laws from taking effect.

 

 

U.S. district court judges have halted such laws in six states - Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee - finding that they infringe on the constitutional guarantee to equal protection under the 14th Amendment.

 

Two lawsuits challenging laws in Montana and Georgia have yet to be ruled on, and in Oklahoma the opposing sides in May agreed to set aside the law until the court case is heard.

 

The court rulings offer temporary relief from the recent rush of bills banning transgender youth from receiving treatments such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy. Twenty states have passed such measures, with the bulk of them signed into law this year.

Mrs. Elizabeth Barrett Rothschild, who in 1941 received the Papal Distinguished Merit Cross awarded

by Pope Pius XII, died here yesterday in her home, 75 Prospect Street. She had long been active in

philanthropic affairs of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark and of New York.

Mrs. Rothschild was the widow of Martin Rothschild, New York clothing manufacturer, who died in

the Titanic disaster. Mrs. Rothschild was rescued.

Her closest survivors are three nephews, Charles S. Barrett, Jr., John J. Barret (sic), and Charles S.

Barret 2d, and a niece, Mrs. Daniel A. Leary.

 

Mr. Martin Rothschild

Martin Rothschild was born in Manhattan, New York on 12 December 1865.

He was the son of Sampson Jacob Rothschild (1818-1899), a merchant, and Mary Greissman (b. 1824),

both Prussian-born Jewish immigrants. His father had come to the USA around 1846, settling in

Monroe, Alabama and was married to his wife sometime after 1850.

Martin was the youngest of five known children, his siblings being: Jacob Henry (1851-1913), Simon

(1854-1908), Samuel (b. 1857) and Hannah (1860-1911, later Mrs William Henry Theobald). Through

his brother Jacob he was the uncle of the poet and satirist Dorothy Parker, nรฉe Rothschild (1893-1967).

The Rothschild family had moved to Manhattan, New York around 1858 and Martin first appears on the

1870 census living with his family, his father being described as the operator of a fancy goods store and

with his two elder sons in his employ. By the time of the 1880 census Martin was described as a stock

clerk; he later operated his own clothing manufacturing company and amassed his fortune.

He was married on 6 February 1895 to Elizabeth Jane Anne Barrett (b. 1858). The pair were an unlikely

couple; he was a wealthy Jewish man and she was his employee, a slightly older seamstress of devout

Irish Roman Catholic background.

The couple, who were childless, lived at 753 West End Avenue, New York but travelled extensively and

were away for up to six months at a time.

Rothschild's 1900 passport describes him as standing at 5' 8", bald with brown eyes, a high forehead, a

round face, small mouth, average nose and fair complexion.

Following a trip to Europe Mr and Mrs Rothschild boarded the Titanic at Cherbourg as first class

passengers (ticket number PC 17603 which cost ยฃ59, 8s) and apparently occupied a cabin on C-deck.

After the collision steward Frederick Dent Ray saw Mr Rothschild coming out of his stateroom on C

deck. "I spoke to him and asked him where his wife was. He said she had gone off in a boat. I said, 'This

is rather serious.' He said, 'I don't think there's any occasion for it.'" Then the two men casually walked

up to A deck where Ray went to a lifeboat.

Martin Rothschild perished in the disaster and his body, if recovered, was never identified. His wife and

her pet dog were among the rescued.

Rothschild is commemorated in the Barrett family mausoleum in St Mary's Cemetery in Watkins Glen,

New York

I have felt the kidnapping plot was more about a kingpin using the release of JFK Jr to secure the release of some individuals that had been captured belonging one of the cartel organizations.

No. On the contrary, they sound like the words of someone who poses a threat to entrenched power.

 

For those still skeptical of RFK Jr.โ€™s credentials, let me remind you that he was one of the first prominent figures to question the efficacy of Covid lockdowns. The Harvard-educated politician has also highlighted Chinaโ€™s growing influence in America, Big Pharmaโ€™s ever-expanding reach, and the rise of tech censorship.

 

Although his chances of becoming the next president remain incredibly slim, Kennedy should be taken seriously, even if members of the MSM tell us otherwise.

Massive Storm Brewing in South Carolina after Lindsey Graham Booed Off Stage

Shortly after President Trump finished yesterdayโ€™s stump speech, a freak storm wrecked the small town of Pickens, South Carolina.

 

Trees were uprooted, and roofs were blown away. One day later, the power has yet to be fully restored while nearly all 3,126 residents have a hand in cleaning up.

 

But considering the way a crowd of 50,000 welcomed Sen. Lindsey Graham to the stage yesterday, the latest forecasting suggests bad weather has only just begun for the political establishment in the Palmetto State.

 

โ€œIt was an odd, wild storm that only touched two counties,โ€ explains Film Director and friend Andrew Mullinax in a Sunday afternoon phone call, โ€œHere in Pickens County and Greenville County โ€” where Trumpโ€™s plane landed and took off.โ€

 

Mullinax says the freak storm blew in just about an hour after Trump took off โ€” leading his more conspiratorial mind to wonder if it was because someone modified the weather.

 

โ€œIt tore the whole town up,โ€ Mullinax says while laughing at my suggestion the storm resulted from a MAGA rain dance, โ€œThere are trees down everywhere. For just a 10-minute storm, it was monstrous.โ€

 

I called the outgoing Chair of the Pickens Republican Party, Tim Bruce, and asked for his perspective on the inclement weather event.

 

โ€œThe storm we had afterward?โ€ Bruce asks in playful response, โ€œOr the storm we had before?โ€

The storm before is at the forefront of conversation in Republican Pickens โ€” the result of a massive Trump rally that nearly booed Senator Lindsey Graham into the next state.

 

โ€œIt was funny,โ€ Bruce explains, โ€œI was watching what looked like 80-year-old ladies who were standing out there in the heat, and they were just giving him down the country, booing him.โ€

 

Current Pickens GOP Chair Bob Fetterly says the reaction is more evidence of how out-of-touch Senator Graham is with the grassroots constituency heโ€™s known to brag about.

 

โ€œGraham touts very proudly that he was born in Central South Carolina, which is in Pickens County,โ€ Fetterly explains, โ€œBut to give you an idea of how detached he really is from us, he came up to one of our members at the Trump rally and said, โ€˜Hey, howโ€™s Teddy doing?โ€™โ€

 

Fetterly explains the โ€œTeddyโ€ Senator Graham was looking for passed away after a hard battle with cancer in 2020. โ€œHe had no clue,โ€ Fetterly says.

 

โ€œAnd then you throw on top of that, a war in Ukraine thatโ€™s very unpopular with our members, and weโ€™re all very aware how quickly he processed Trumpโ€™s judicial nominees, but he did the same thing for Obama and Biden,โ€ Fetterly explains, โ€œSo frankly, weโ€™re not impressed.โ€

 

Still, however unimpressed the people of Pickens County may be, Senator Graham keeps getting elected. Former Greenville County Chair and current State Executive Committeeman Jeff Davis says the root of the problem lies in open primaries.

 

โ€œWeโ€™ve been trying to get closed primaries in the state of South Carolina for a long time,โ€ Davis explains, โ€œLindseyโ€™s been the one to kind of prevent that.โ€ Tim Bruce says multiple county calls to censure Graham were in 2022 met with Executive Committee criticism from the State GOP in Columbia.

 

Rather than censure, Bruce and others were asked to invite Senator Graham to listen to his grassroots constituents in the region.

 

โ€œSo, I proposed that to our executive committee,โ€ Bruce says, โ€œI told them, โ€œLetโ€™s hold off on passing any censures. Letโ€™s give Senator Graham an opportunity to respond to these charges.โ€™โ€

 

โ€œWe wrote a letter, we emailed it, we sent it registered mail, and then finally we had it hand-delivered to one of his offices,โ€ explains Bruce, โ€œBut the registered mail was never taken out of his post office box. So, in other words, they refused even to take the letter. Nothing was ever answered.โ€

 

Out of touch and beyond communication, it seems Senator Graham doesnโ€™t care for opinions in Pickens and Greenville Counties.

 

Even though the Senator is widely reviled, Bob Fetterly says itโ€™s an uphill battle to get Graham out of office in 2026.

 

โ€œWhat weโ€™re battling is the half-informed voter,โ€ says Fetterly, โ€œI donโ€™t believe we have too many of them in Pickens County, but we have too many of them statewide. And itโ€™s going to take somebody with a very well-organized grassroots campaign becausemy understanding is he has a 200 million war chest.โ€

(OMG) the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has OVERTURNED the law that prohibits recording in the state of Oregon on the grounds it violates the 1st amendment.I filed the lawsuit (PVA v Schmidt) with attorney Benjamin Barr and Steve Klein at the Marc O. Hatfield courthouse in Chapman square in downtown Portland with heavy security three years ago.

Oregon Revised Statute 165.540(1)(c). This law prohibited anyone from making an audio recording unless that person โ€œspecifically informedโ€ others they were recording. But the law also included special permissions from government to allow for non-notified recording of the police, but not any other government employee.

That just leaves government putting its thumb on the lens of newsgathering, deciding which news is easiest to get and skewing reporting. Like the Ninth Circuit has explained before, whatever concerns Oregon has over shoddy reporting or โ€œfake news,โ€ the remedy for speech that is false is speech that is true and not the suppression of speech.

Oregon has no power to protect the conversational privacy of some people in a public place from the First Amendment protected newsgathering of other individuals. Because the law lets government distort the newsgaterhing process and bans entirely too much effective journalism, it violated the First Amendment on its face.

Circuit Judge Sandra S. Ikuta out of the 9th circuit in Pasadena, California authored the opinion. Ikuta wrote, โ€œOregon does not have a compelling interest in protecting individualsโ€™ conversational privacy from other individualsโ€™ protected speech in places open to the public, even if that protected speech consists of creating audio or visual recordings of other people.โ€

In one of her final interviews as director of the CDC, Walensky told The Wall Street Journal that she hopes Americans will make health decisions based on โ€œtheir own risk assessment and their own personal risks, but not through politics,โ€ a sentiment that should have ideally guided her leadership.

 

Walenskyโ€™s fraught tenure was characterized by an evident lack of strong leadership and inconsistent messaging. Critics argue that her leadership, or lack thereof, appeared to be influenced by politics, leading to a quarter of Americans distrusting the CDCโ€™s health recommendations, according to a 2022 survey.

News channel A Haber has claimed that Turkish intelligence officials detained seven suspected Israeli covert-action operatives

 

Turkish authorities have uncovered a network of Mossad agents in the country, news channel A Haber has reported. The suspected Israeli intelligence operatives had allegedly been gathering information on foreign nationals residing in Tรผrkiye.

 

The media outlet claimed on Monday that Tรผrkiyeโ€™s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) had for months been monitoring the clandestine activities of the Israeli intelligence services.

 

Seven people have reportedly been detained as a result, with all of them admitting to working for Mossad, Israelโ€™s national intelligence agency. A total of 56 individuals comprising nine cells are believed to be involved, A Haber reported.

 

According to the channel, their supposed tasks included tracking certain foreign citizens living in Tรผrkiye, using GPS devices, wi-fi and password-capturing tools.

 

On top of that, the alleged network, whose operational base is thought to be in Tel Aviv, were setting up fake websites in various languages, including Arabic, to lure their victims and make them reveal their personal details, location and IP addresses, the article claimed.

 

The suspected Mossad agents also allegedly used fake news websites, with stories selected specifically to grab the targetโ€™s attention, A Haber reported. On clicking an infected link, the unsuspecting target would allegedly give access to their cell phone to a Mossad spyware program.

 

The Turkish outlet is also claiming that the supposed spies and their Israeli handlers had utilized hundreds of disposable internet data lines belonging to fictitious individuals from Spain, England, Germany, Sweden, Malaysia, Indonesia and Belgium for communication purposes .

 

On top of their alleged operations inside Tรผrkiye, the alleged Mossad operatives, most of whom are presumably Turkish residents of Arab origin, had also been sent on intelligence-gathering missions to neighboring Syria and Lebanon, the report suggested.

 

It cited one such case, in which a Mossad operative had allegedly obtained the coordinates of a building in Lebanon that was housing high-profile figures from the Hezbollah militant group.

 

The news channel claimed that the Israeli intelligence service had been training its would-be agents in Thailand. To cover their tracks, the supposed Mossad operatives would take a devious route, flying first to Serbia, then to Dubai and finally arriving in the South-Asian country, A Haber reports.

The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), is the successor of the Inquisition. Itโ€™s a powerful post, that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger held by two decades, before he became Pope Benedict, in 2005.

 

โ€œThe Dicastery, or department, enforces orthodoxy of church teaching and disciplines theologians deemed to have strayed from Catholic doctrine in their lectures or publications. But it has taken on considerably more importance to rank-and-file faithful as the stain of pedophile priests spread across the globe in recent decades. Among the departmentโ€™s duties are evaluating and processing sex abuse allegations against clergy.โ€

 

Fernรกndez, believed to have โ€˜ghost-writtenโ€™ some of Francisโ€™ most important documents, is set to take up his new post in mid-September. Meanwhile, protests are arising.

 

BishopAccountability.org, a Massachusetts organization that maintains an online archive of abuse in the Roman Catholic Church, is sounding the alarm.

โ€œA U.S.-based group that tracks how the Catholic hierarchy deals with allegations of sexual abuse by clergy says Pope Francis made a โ€˜troublingโ€™ choice in appointing an Argentine prelate to a powerful Vatican office that handles such cases.โ€

 

In 2019, Fernรกndez โ€˜refused to believeโ€™ victims who accused a priest in the La Plata archdiocese of sexually abusing boys, and disregarded the accusations.

 

That is disturbing, for a bishop set to have the responsibility of judging and punishing priests who abuse children.

 

โ€œFrancis โ€˜made a baffling and troubling choiceโ€™, the group said in statement emailed late Saturday in the U.S., citing how Fernรกndez handled the case.

 

โ€˜In his response to allegations, he stoutly supported the accused priest and refused to believe the victimsโ€™, BishopAccountability.org said. Fernรกndez โ€˜should have been investigated, not promoted to one of the highest posts in the global churchโ€™.โ€

 

And the criticism also comes from inside the church, as many conservative catholic have reservations about his theological work and his adherence to the orthodoxy he is to defend.

 

Catholic news site The Pillar reported:

 

โ€œFernรกndez is the author of more than 300 theological works, including the 1995 โ€˜Heal me with your mouth. The art of kissingโ€™, which was not included on the list of his publications released July 1 by the Vatican.

 

The Holy See press office said that the archbishopโ€™s writings were marked by โ€˜a significant biblical basis and a constant effort to create a dialogue between theology and culture, evangelizing mission, spirituality, and social issuesโ€™.โ€

 

That a book like that is inappropriate for a man in his position is half-admitted by Fernรกndez himself in the first paragraph of his book: โ€œI want to clarify that this book was not written so much based on my own experience, but based on the lives of people who kiss. In these pages I want to synthesize the popular feeling, what people feel when they think of a kiss, what mortals experience when they kiss.โ€

At Least One Person Dead in Fiery Small Plane Crash in South Carolina Beach Resort

 

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.โ€”A single-engine plane carrying five people crashed Sunday near a golf course in the South Carolina coastal resort community of North Myrtle Beach, killing at least one person, police and federal officials said.

 

The Piper PA-32 went down northwest of the cityโ€™s Grand Stand Airport shortly after 11 a.m., the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said in a statement that confirmed five people were aboard.

 

North Myrtle Beach police spokesman Patrick Wilkinson said initially that there was at least one death and one other person taken to a hospital, the Myrtle Beach Sun News reported.

 

A North Myrtle Beach police dispatcher, contacted by The Associated Press, said she had no further information later Sunday and that no spokesperson was immediately available to provide further updates on the dead or injured.

 

The newspaper reported the plane went down in a fiery crash near a golf course in an area called Barefoot Landing, prompting police, fire and other emergency vehicles to rush to the site.

 

The paper quoted a visitor to the area, Iris Gaines, as saying she spotted the plane flying โ€œsort of crazy likeโ€ with one of its wings higher than the other just before the crash. โ€œIt was so close over this condo,โ€ she told the newspaper.

 

Wilkinson said the aircraft was fully engulfed in flames by the time emergency crews arrived, and the paper reported some trees appeared to be down along a road near the crash site.

 

The FAA said in a statement said the National Transportation Safety Board will lead an investigation into the crash. The FAA had no other information on where the plane departed from or where it was headed.

As part of this anti-Russian mindset, Western leaders and their loyal press corps have helped legitimize Nazism by willfully ignoring the fact that they bankroll a Nazi army that fights the Russians.

For decades, the Soviet occupation held Ukrainian Nazism in check. That ended in 1991 with the Soviet Unionโ€™s dissolution, followed by Ukraineโ€™s independence from Russia. Politically, Ukraine has had a strong mix of ethnic Ukrainians and Russians. There were always tensions, but the current instability resulted from Western interference, especially from America and England. When Victoria Nuland orchestrated a 2014 coup against the legitimate government led by ethnic Russian Viktor Yanukovych, that unleashed the powerful Nazi element that had lain dormant for so long in Ukraine.

The first evidence of a Nazi resurgence occurred just after the 2014 coup. To deal with protesters, the government unleashed their Nazi Azov militia. The militia was called in because Ukraine military regulars would not do what the Azov did.

Writing at Consortium News in May 2014, Robert Parry recounted the roundup of ethnic Russians who were protesting the overthrow of the Yanukovych government. According to Parry, on May 2, in the port city of Odessa, the Azov militia herded the Russians into buildings that were then set ablaze, killing 40 people. Afterward, reporters spotted graffiti on walls with Swastika-like symbols honoring the โ€œGalician SS,โ€ the Ukrainian adjunct to the German SS in World War II. The Azov military repeated this barbaric action on May 9 in Mariupol, another port city.

In 2016, Kiev, Ukraineโ€™s capital city, renamed two streets in honor of Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych. Both men were among numerous Ukrainians who collaborated with the Nazis, including volunteering with the SS. Bandera and Shukhevych were complicit in the mass murderers of Jews and Poles but are celebrated as anti-communist heroes in Ukraine. In 2019, a Ukrainian court ruled against the honor accorded these Nazis, at which point Kievโ€™s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, announced on Facebook that he would appeal the ruling. (As of now, the ruling does not appear to have been overturned.)

In 2018 in Lviv, hundreds of men wearing the SS uniforms of Ukrainian collaborators marched in a city-approved event. At least three Ukrainian municipalities in recent years have unveiled statues for Banderaโ€™s deputy, Yaroslav Stetsko. During the Holocaust, Stetsko openly called for โ€œthe extermination of the Jews.โ€

On 16 March 2022, a journalist on TV channel Ukraine 24 quoted the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichman and called for the massacre of Russian-speaking children. On 21 March, military doctor Gennadiy Druzenko declared on the same channel that he had ordered his doctors to castrate Russian prisoners of war.

In any event, Ukrainian Nazism is no secret. Western leaders are aware of it. When Fox Newsโ€™s Bret Baier questioned Zelensky about the Azov Battalion, Zelensky simply said, โ€œThey are what they are.โ€ According to the Conservative Treehouse, Fox later edited out this portion of the interview.

EU could be โ€˜disgracedโ€™ by confiscating frozen Russian assets โ€“ Austrian FM

Alexander Schallenberg has argued that the bloc must find a โ€˜watertightโ€™ legal case if it wants to appropriate Moscowโ€™s funds

 

The EU must ensure it has a clear legal basis if it decides to confiscate frozen Russian assets and hand them over to Ukraine, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg has warned. The diplomat argued that failure to do so would significantly tarnish the blocโ€™s reputation.

 

In an interview with Austrian broadcaster ORF published on Sunday, Schallenberg stressed that any such confiscation of Russian assets โ€œmust be watertightโ€ from a legal viewpoint. He claimed that Austria and other EU members โ€œare countries with the rule of law,โ€ and that they must apply that approach in international relations. According to Schallenberg, this is one of the fundamental differences between Western European nations and Russia.

 

โ€œExpropriation is a massive intervention, according to law,โ€ the Austrian minister noted. โ€œIf we do thisโ€ฆ as states with the rule of law we must make legal decisions,โ€Schallenberg insisted, adding thatany such step could be challenged at the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg. (Thereโ€™s no Robinhood international laws, the US & EU has been studying this they seized the assets, which are both state, corporate and private citizens funds!)

 

Should the appropriation of Russian assets not be deemed to have a legal basis, this would be an โ€œenormous setback, and basically a disgraceโ€ for the EU, the official concluded. (In other words its a really stupid idea!)

 

Regarding relations with Moscow in general, the minister said that geography dictates thatRussia will remain part of European history, and that attempting to โ€˜cancelโ€™ the country would be wrong. Schallenberg called for communication channels to remain intact, and claimed that emotions should not guide EU policies toward Russia.

 

Bloomberg reported last month that EU leaders had considered plans to impose a windfall tax on profits generated by more than โ‚ฌ200 billion ($217 billion) of frozen Russian central bank assets to aid Ukraineโ€™s reconstruction. While the option had reportedly appeared to be the least problematic, some participants had still raised concerns over its legality, Bloomberg claimed.

 

In mid-June, the European Central Bank spoke out against a windfall levy, warning that it could undermine confidence in the euro as a global currency and hurt financial stability.

 

Back in April, theEuropean Commission ruled that member states could not seize frozen Russian assets outright. The EU and its allies froze hundreds of billions of euros of Russian central bank holdings as well as private assets soon after Moscow launched its military campaign against Ukraine in February of 2022. Russian officials have repeatedly described any seizure of the countryโ€™s assets as theft and illegal under international law.

Israel to bring 1,000-person delegation to COP28 climate conference in Dubai

 

At the COP 28 conference in Dubai, Israel is looking to take charge and be a global leader in the fight against climate change.

 

Israel will invest NIS 8 million to bring a delegation of 1,000 people and more than 100 Israeli climate and related technology companies to Dubai at the end of November for the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 28, according to the Foreign Ministry.

 

On Monday, representatives from the public and business sectors, academia, and civil society gathered at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem to discuss ideas and potential collaborations before COP 28, which runs from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai.

 

Some 80,000 people from 198 countries are expected to attend the event.

 

The Economy Ministry is leading the selection of 30 companies, including many start-ups, to present their ideas in the Israeli pavilion, which will be marketed under the tagline โ€œClimate of Innovation.โ€ More than 100 companies will travel to Dubai with the Israel Export Institute and participate in meetings and side events.

 

Throughout the two-week conference, Israel will participate in around 70 events, explained Maya Kadosh, Israelโ€™s national coordinator for COP 28, including some events on the main stage. The country will also invest heavily in public relations, she said.
