The former president's better half has been avoiding the spotlight since the Obamas' transition out of politics, but keen-eyed Tahitians have spotted Michelle Obama taking on a new project: stand-up paddle boarding.

Tahiti Nui TV Tรฉlรฉvision spotted the former First Lady paddling through some crystal blue seas just off the island of Moorea. The TV station reported that Michelle had flown in over the weekend to meet her husband, who'd been staying in the ultra-luxe resort The Brando while he works on his portion of the couple's $85m book deal.

During Michelle's visit, Barack took a break from scripting memoirs to do some paddle boarding himself.
