I’m reading Chronicles and this reminded me of real autists and anons:

1 Chronicles 12:8

“And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;”

UK probing Mali mail mishap

Defence Ministry emails intended for the Pentagon ended up in the African nation instead

The British government said on Friday it had opened an investigation into how many emails intended for the US military ended up in Mali, a West African country with close ties to Russia.

“We have opened an investigation after a small number of emails were mistakenly forwarded to an incorrect email domain,” a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) told the media. “We are confident they did not contain any information that could compromise operational security or technical data.”

“All sensitive information is shared on systems designed to minimize the risk of misdirection,”the spokesperson added.

The MoD did not mention the name of the “incorrect” domain. Earlier this month, however,Financial Times revealed that “millions” of Pentagon emails had ended up on servers in Mali, due to the similarity between the US military domain (.mil) and that of the African country (.ml).

Dutch internet entrepreneur Johannes Zuurbier, who managed the Malian government’s internet domain until recently, told FThe first noticed the problem almost ten years ago and tried to warn the Pentagon.

British media found the story funny at the time. The BBC headlined it “You’ve Got Mali,” a pun on the 1998 romantic comedy starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan. The US Department of Defense confirmed that “unauthorized disclosures of controlled national security information” had taken place.

Bamako’s military government has cultivated closer relations with Russia since Mali’s 2021 coup. While there is no formal military alliance between it and Moscow, Interim President Assimi Goita has contracted with the controversial private military company Wagner for security services. The government in Bamako has also sought to sever ties with former colonial power France, ejecting French peacekeepers last month and abolishingFrench as the official language earlier this week.

(How fucking incompetent are these people in UK and the Pentagon?)

Typo sending millions of Pentagon emails to African country

The Department of Defense has confirmed that typos often result in leaks of US secrets to Mali

A common typo by users of the US military’s email system has resulted in millions of messages, including many containing diplomatic documents and other secret information, being inadvertently sent to government addresses in Mali.

The Pentagon confirmed the “unauthorized disclosures of controlled national security information” on Monday, saying it was “aware of the issue.” While many of the messages were innocuous, some reportedly contained such information as travel arrangements for top officers, tax returns, password retrievals, maps of military installations, and crew lists for ships. None of the emails were confirmed to be classified.

The large-scale confusion came about because the military’s ‘.MIL’ domain name was commonly mistyped as ‘.ML’, which happens to be the suffix used for government email addresses in Mali. Although the Pentagon claimed that emails sent outside the ‘.MIL’ domain name are now being blocked, Dutch internet entrepreneur Johannes Zuurbier told the Financial Times thathe collected nearly 117,000 US military emails that landed in Malian government mailboxes in the first six months of this year.

Zuurbier, who managed the Malian government’s internet domain until his contract expired earlier this month, said he first noticed the problem nearly ten years ago and repeatedly warned the Pentagon that the “risk is real and could be exploited by adversaries.”

The US cut off military relations with Mali following a March 2012 military coup that overthrew the country’s elected government. The administration of President Joe Biden complained in 2021 that the Malian government had hired Russian military contractor Wagner Group and refused to accept 2,000 additional UN peacekeepers. The current leadership in Bamako kicked out the remaining UN peacekeepers last month.

The latest spilling of secrets comes at a time when the Pentagon is already dealing with the fallout from massive leaks by a low-level Air National Guardsman who posted documents on a Discord server. The 21-year-old soldier was able to obtain and disseminate highly classified information, such as the secret deployments of US special forces in Ukraine, in his role as a computer networking technician.

More Western-made Ukrainian tanks destroyed – Moscow

The Russian Defense Ministry has reported intense combat across the frontlines as Kiev continues its counteroffensive

Ukrainian troops have suffered heavy casualties as they continue their counteroffensive across the front line, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

Over the past 24 hours, Kiev’s forces have lost hundreds of military personnel and multiple Western-supplied armor pieces, including German-made Leopard 2 tanks and French-made AMX-10 wheeled fighting vehicles, the military said in its daily briefing.

Intense combat continued near the village of Rabotino in Zaporozhye Region, where a major battle had occurred the previous day, the military noted. The Ukrainian forces lost up to 180 servicemen and three Leopard 2 tanks, failing to dislodge the Russian forces from their positions, they added.

The Kiev forces alsolost two AMX-10sin the Rabotino area. Separately, unverified footage online showed a damaged truck of the same type captured in the Russian city of Mariupol. No official information about the trophy was immediately available.

Active combat also continued in Russia’s Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, the military said. A major Ukrainian attack was repelled near the village of Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk Republic, with Kiev’s forces losing up to 110 servicemen, several armored and soft vehicles, as well as at least three howitzers.

In the Lugansk People’s Republic, Russian forces continued their offensive effort near the town of Krasny Liman, advancing between 1.5km and 3km deep into Ukrainian positions at various locations. A total of 90 Ukrainian servicemen, two infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled and towed howitzers, as well as other hardware were destroyed in the area, according to the Russian military.

The Ukrainian military launched its long-heralded counteroffensive in early June, but have so far failed to achieve any tangible results, instead sustaining heavy casualties in personnel and Western-supplied equipment. In recent days, the fighting has seemingly intensified along the front line, with Kiev’s forces launching multiple major attacks on Russian positions and using heavy equipment en masse.

(Why are they continuing to sacrifice their soldiers? This is sick and depraved!)
