Illinois Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker signed a bill allowing non-citizens to become police officers in the state, sparking outrage from some in the state.

 

Pritzker signed the bill, HB 3751, into law along with more than 130 other bills on Friday. The bill allows anyone legally authorized to work and carry a firearm under federal law to become a police officer or sheriff's deputy. While the bill states that it is effective Jan. 1, 2024, Pritzker's office says it is effective immediately.

 

The legislation passed in May with a 37-20 vote in the Senate, as two Democrats joined Republicans to vote against the bill.

 

House Republicans unanimously supported the bill in a vote to pass it and send it to the Senate. After the Senate amended the bill slightly to allow Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients to apply to become police officers, just 7 out of 40 Republicans opposed the updated legislation in the 118-member chamber.

 

The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police criticized the legislation earlier this month, according to local outlet KHQA.

 

"What message does this legislation send when it allows people who do not have legal status to become the enforcers of our laws?" the order asked. "This is a potential crisis of confidence in law enforcement at a time when our officers need all the public confidence they can get."

 

Illinois Republican state Sen. Chapin Rose voiced opposition to the bill in May when it was debated in his chamber.

 

"It’s just a fundamentally bad idea," he said. "I don’t care where this individual is from. Australia — they should not be able to arrest a United States citizen on United States soil."

The US Department of Defense is examining how an engineer at an Air Force base in Tennessee managed to steal $90,000 worth of radio equipment and penetrate the networks of 17 Pentagon facilities, Forbes reported on Saturday. The suspect also reportedly accessed FBI communications.

 

The government received a tip from a contractor at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee, who alleged that a 48-year-old engineer at the facility had been taking government radio technology home for his own use, Forbes reported, citing a search warrant.

 

When law enforcement raided the man’s home, they discovered that he had “unauthorized administrator access” to the communications infrastructure of 17 military installations, and was running Motorola radio programming software on his computer, giving him access to “the entire Arnold Air Force Base communications system,” the warrant reportedly stated.

 

A forensics report on items seized from the engineer’s house reportedly revealed that he had flash drives containing passwords for the Air Force’s Training and Education Command’s radio network, “local law enforcement radio programming files,” and “Motorola radio programming files” which displayed a warning that they were US government property when opened.

The report also claimed that the man had possible access to the communications of the FBI and several Tennessee state agencies, without elaborating further.

 

Forbes withheld the man’s name, as he had not been charged by the time the article was published. Investigators are reportedly treating the incident as a “critical compromise” of security, according to the warrant.

 

The incident comes three months after hundreds of Pentagon documents were leaked onto a gaming server, allegedly by a US Air National Guardsman based in Massachusetts. The documents revealed the presence of US special forces in Ukraine, the inadequacies of the Ukrainian military as it prepared for its counteroffensive against Russian forces, and the US’ spying on its allies throughout the conflict.

 

The alleged leaker, Jack Teixeira, was charged last month with six counts of retaining and transmitting classified information. If found guilty, he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison on each count.

BREAKING: Corrupt DOJ Requests Court to Order Devon Archer’s Surrender for Imprisonment PRIOR to Testimony on Biden Crime Family (VIDEO)

 

In an unprecedented move, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued a letter to a federal judge in the Southern District of New York, suggesting that Devon Archer, a business associate of Hunter Biden, be ordered to surrender and begin his term of imprisonment.

The Southern Delta Aquariid meteor shower peaks today, although the brightening Moon will make spotting shower meteors a challenge. Fortunately, the Moon sets about three hours before sunrise, providing a short but effective window for trying to catch early-morning meteors.

 

An hour before sunrise, the radiant is some 25° above the southwestern horizon. The Southern Delta Aquariids’ radiant lies in Aquarius, about halfway between the star 3rd-magnitude Skat and the similarly bright star Deneb Algedi in eastern Capricornus. This year, however, there’s another landmark to help you find it: Magnitude 0.5 Saturn is about 7° above (northeast of) the radiant. So, you can find Saturn in the sky and drop down a little to locate the point from which shower meteors will appear to radiate.

 

However, once you’ve found this point, look a little south or west of it — this is where you’re likely to spot the best meteors with the longest trains, rather than at the radiant itself. The Southern Delta Aquariids are expected to produce roughly 25 meteors per hour around the peak, so while it’s not going to be a stunning show, you can expect to catch at least a few bright shooting stars.

Nuclear war no worse than climate change – Blinken

Warmer temperatures are the number one “existential threat” to the world, the US’ top diplomat has claimed

 

The threat of nuclear annihilation is no more serious than the threat of climate change, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has claimed. Blinken’s critics argue that Washington is risking nuclear war by arming Ukraine.

 

In an appearance on 60 Minutes Australia on Sunday, Blinken was asked whether nuclear war or climate change represented “the greater threat to humanity.”

 

“Well, you can’t, I think, have a hierarchy,” he replied. “There are some things that are front and center…including potential conflict, but there’s no doubt that climate represents an existential challenge to all of us.”

 

“So for us, this is the existential challenge of our times,” he continued, adding that this “doesn’t mean that in the meantime there are not severe challenges to the international order like Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.”

 

With July set to go down as the hottest month in history, the UN has called for “accelerated action” to reduce carbon emissions, including a global end to coal use by 2040. Earlier this summer, US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry demanded an overhaul of the world’s agricultural system to reduce carbon emissions from farming in a bid to avert “half a degree of warming by mid-century.”

 

In Ukraine, however, President Joe Biden’s administration continues its policy of open-ended support for Kiev’s military. The US and its NATO allies have armed Ukraine with long-range missiles and are currently discussing the supply of American-made fighter jets to Kiev, amid repeated warnings from Moscow that such weapons dramatically raise the chances of an all-out war between Russia and the West.

 

Kiev’s forces have also made repeated attempts to target Russian nuclear power plants, the Kremlin warned earlier this month, accusing Ukraine and its sponsors of “nuclear terrorism.”

 

In the US, warnings about the imminent threat of nuclear conflict have primarily come from the isolationist wing of the Republican Party. Ukrainians are Germany’s biggest foreign welfare recipient group – media

People from Ukraine account for almost 30% of all foreigners getting welfare payments in Germany, Bild has reported

 

Ukrainians residing in Germany have emerged as the biggest grouping of foreign nationals relying on government welfare payments, the tabloid Bild reported on Saturday, citing data from the German Federal Employment Agency (BA).

 

Out of 5.5 million welfare recipients in Germany, only about half are German citizens, the media outlet reported. As of March 2023, almost 2.6 million people getting “standard benefits” from the state were foreigners, according to BA’s Migration Monitor program.

 

Ukrainians constitute the largest proportion of non-German welfare recipients, amounting to about 30% of their number. Syrians form the second-largest group, accounting for another 20%. According to government data, as many as 65.6% of Ukrainians living in Germany – or 707,700 people – receive financial aid from the government.

 

More than half of all Syrians residing in the country, as well as 47.1% of Afghans living there, are also dependent on the German welfare system, Bild reported, adding that, among Germans themselves, 5.3% are on welfare.

 

People entitled to welfare payments get an average of €502 ($554) for a single person and €451 ($497) per person for a couple each week. Persons with kids get an additional €318 ($350) and €420 ($463), depending on the child’s age. The state also pays for the rent, heating and education of eligible persons.

 

Asylum seekers and people with the so-called “tolerated stay” status could get between €369 ($407) and €410 ($452) weekly, depending on the circumstances, plus an additional €278–€364 ($306–$401) per child if applicable. Only those who are officially granted asylum in Germany could then apply for “standard benefits.”

 

This rule does not affect Ukrainians, though. Under the existing regulations, they do not apply for asylum and are automatically entitled to regular welfare payments, according to Bild. Berlin allocated a total of €43.8 ($48.3 billion) for welfare payments and associated costs within this year’s budget, the media outlet reported.

 

The existing scheme sparked criticism from Carsten Linnemann, the general secretary of Germany’s biggest opposition party – the Christian Democratic Union. The conservative politician demanded a “fundamental” overhaul of the welfare system, which he said should be more focused on the immigrants’ “integration”into the German labor market.

 

“We have a shortage of skilled workers and some 2.5 million unemployed at the same time, as well as a high level of immigration into the social system,” he said, demanding the government do more to “get as many people as possible out of the social assistance [system] and into the job market.”

 

A recent survey conducted jointly by several German research institutions and the federal migration agency showed that only 18% of Ukrainian refugees in Germany had found a job.At the same time, 44% of them said they would like to stay in the country. The number of those willing to remain has grown by five percentage points, up from 39% in a poll conducted last summer.

 

Germany has accepted more than one million Ukrainians since the outbreak of the conflict a year and a half ago. The large influx of Ukrainians placed a strain on the EU’s biggest economy. In October 2022, 23 municipal leaders across the country warned that local authorities had exhausted all resources to aid new arrivals. In February 2023, Interior Minister Nancy Faeser called for a more even distribution of Ukrainian refugees among EU member states.

The source asked whether Hunter Biden or Joe Biden told Zlochevsky he should “retain” the younger Biden; Zlochevsky allegedly replied, “They both did.”

 

The federal informant — a Ukrainian-American who has been a trusted, highly credible FBI source for over a decade and been paid “six figures,” according to Grassley — described four conversations with Zlochevsky, beginning with a meeting near Kyiv in late 2015 or early 2016 and continuing through a 2019 phone call.

 

The informant said each of his conversations with Zlochevsky occurred in the presence of a man named Alexander Ostapenko — giving the FBI a possible supporting witness.

 

Ostapenko “introduced” the informant to Zlochevsky and “works in some office for the administration of [Ukrainian] President [Volodymyr] Zelensky,” the file says.

 

Zlochevsky allegedly claimed to have 17 recordings of conversations with the Bidens — two of which involved Joe — as well as “many text messages” and two documents that the informant “understood to be” financial records of “payment(s) to the Bidens.”

The supposed treaty would include "clearly defined forms and mechanisms of support,"Yermak said, without naming any of such mechanisms. According to the head of the presidential staff, Kiev expects the guarantees to ensure Ukraine’s "ability to win" the ongoing conflict with Moscow and "contain" what he called "Russia’s aggression" in the future.

 

Zelesnky’s aide also said that agreements with the US and other Western nations, which are supposed to follow Washington’s example, are to be based on a joint declaration issued by Ukraine and the G7 nations in Vilnius in mid-July. Yermak claimed that more than a "dozen"other nations had already joined this declaration as well but did not name any of them.

 

The Ukrainian media reported, though, that the deal reached byUkraine and the G7 nations does not involve any specific support mechanisms but only some "framework"agreements.

 

The text of the July declaration states that the G7 nations "will each work with Ukraine to establish specific, long-term bilateral security commitments and arrangements," including security assistance with "modern military equipment", support for Ukraine’s defense industry, training for Ukrainian troops, as well as information exchange and cyber defense aid.

 

Under the deal, Kiev is expected to "contribute positively to the security of partners" as well as continue the reforms demanded by its Western backers.

 

Neither the US nor any other G7 nations have commented on the alleged future bilateral security agreements with Ukraine so far.

 

In mid-July, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow has nothing against security guarantees for Ukraine as long as its own security is not compromised. "There is just one restriction," he said, adding that "ensuring one nation’s security should not pose a threat to another nation’s security."

 

"As for Ukraine’s NATO membership, we have repeatedly stated that it creates a threat to Russia’s security," the president said, adding that it was one of the very reasons that prompted Russia to launch its military campaign in Ukraine in the first place.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna Introduces Legislation To Help Protect Disabled Vets, Make VA More Transparent

Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna introduced legislation Wednesday that would help protect disabled veterans and aim to make the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) more transparent.

 

The Daily Caller first obtained a copy of the legislation, which is titled the “Send Them Treat Them Act.” The bill would specifically require the VA to update their Disability Claim Form to include information on the value of public Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQ).

 

If the bill is passed, the Disability Claim Form will be required to state how veterans have the opportunity to submit the DBQ form, completed by any physician of their choice, as part of their supporting medical evidence.

 

The form would state how veterans can get access to this form online and offline. The bill also requires the VA to update their website. On the page titled “How to file a disability claim,” the bill requires the VA to include the same information provided on the claim form so veterans can find the information more easily.

 

“As a veteran myself, the lack of transparency coming from the VA has always been very concerning to me, especially when wounded veterans are trying to file disability claims. Those who have served our nation courageously should be receiving the best care possible and we shouldn’t settle for anything less. My legislation ensures that those who are wounded in the service of our country have access to the highest quality of care which they rightfully deserve,” Luna told the Caller before introducing the bill.

 

Alabama Republican Rep. Barry Moore is co-sponsoring the bill and it has been endorsed by Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

 

“The VFW supports the Send Them Treat Them Act that revises laws administered by the Secretary of Veteran Affairs to clarify information about the use of Disability Benefits Questionnaire forms and instructions on veterans’ rights when using them to file disability claims. The information provided to veterans on how to file claims should be clear and complete, making it easy for veterans to receive compensation for any disability they have resulting from their service to this country. Devastating explosion in fireworks warehouse kills 12 and injures 121 in Thailand

A devastating explosion at an unauthorised warehouse in Thailand has claimed 12 lives and left over 100 people injured.

 

The incident occurred on Saturday at the Muno market in Su-ngai Kolok district, situated in the southern province of Narathiwat, which shares its border with Malaysia.

 

Authorities had earlier said the death toll was 10, but on Sunday, it was revised at 12.

 

“There are 10 deaths plus the remains of two unidentified persons, which were sent for DNA checks,” Narathiwat’s governor Sanan Phongaksorn said. “But there should be no more deaths.”

 

He said 121 people were left injured, with two severely injured, while 111 were discharged from hospital.

 

More than 200 houses surrounding the warehouse were damaged by the explosion, affecting 365 people. Some 19 people were still staying at a shelter as several families have moved to their relatives’ houses, Mr Sanan said.

 

Many of the houses and other buildings had collapsed roofs and walls after the explosion.

 

Videos on social media show a huge plume of smoke over the area and many damaged structures, cars and motorbikes, as well as streets covered with debris.

 

Police were investigating the cause of the incident, he said, with initial reports suggesting a welding error at the warehouse.

 

“The fire is under control and police will investigate the cause thoroughly again,” he said.

 

He told public broadcaster Thai PBS that the explosion was likely triggered by construction work taking place in the warehouse, with sparks from metal welding causing the fireworks stored inside to catch fire and explode.

 

Seksan Taesen, an eyewitness who lives 330ft away from the market, told AFP news agency he heard a “loud, thunderous noise and my whole house shook”.

 

“Then I saw my roof was wide open. I looked outside and I saw house collapsing and people lying on the ground everywhere. It was chaos.”

Boy Scout Leaders Invite LGBTQ Advocates to Jamboree Camp

 

The Boy Scouts of America scouting organization is inviting “LGBTQ” advocacy at its national jamboree camp in West Virginia.

 

The advocacy was applauded by LGBTQ advocate Mike De Socio in the Washington Post. “There is value in the type of place it is becoming: one where any kid, of any race or gender or sexual orientation, feels at home,” De Socio wrote.

 

De Socio has campaigned for an official welcome for gays and lesbians, as well as transsexuals — dubbed “transgenders”– into the national organization. That demand contradicted the organization’s original purpose of redirecting and subsuming young men’s energy to help guide them through their turbulent adolescent years and puberty.

 

The current welcome for chaotic sexual diversity is being offered to teenagers as the scouting movement shrinks. There were just 15,000 scouts at the 2023 jamboree compared to 40,000 at the 2013 event.

 

The decline comes despite the welcoming policies, not because of them, De Socio insisted:

 

The meager attendance reflects the weather-beaten state of the Boy Scouts of America. Though its doors are now open to kids of all gender identities and sexual orientations, fewer than ever are accepting the invitation. The organization lost nearly half of its membership between 2019 and 2020. This national event represents one of its first steps out of a generational nadir brought about by the pandemic, a sexual abuse scandal and an ensuing bankruptcy.

 

The BSA had barely resolved its struggle over membership policies — fully admitting gay men in 2015 and trans boys in 2017, and then [girls] in 2018 — before facing an avalanche of sexual abuse claims.

But the turmoil had an upside. Scouts within the ranks seized the moment to press for a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. A collective dubbed “Scouts for Black Lives” successfully pushed the organization to commit to a slate of projects, including a new diversity merit badge required for Eagle Scout rank.

 

The “sexual abuse scandal,” bankruptcy, and membership decline came after intense establishment pressure on the scouts. For example, the establishment media slammed scout leaders for excluding gays and lesbian scoutmasters — and slammed them for not excluding all predatory gays and lesbians from local leadership roles.

 

The Associated Press reported the subsequent damage in 2021:

 

Membership for the BSA’s flagship Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA programs dropped from 1.97 million in 2019 to 1.12 million in 2020, a 43% plunge, according to figures provided to The Associated Press. Court records show membership has fallen further since then, to about 762,000.

 

Yet the new generation of national leaders is doubling down its welcome for teenage sexual advocacy by gays and lesbians — and even by the very different, no-boundaries “queer” and transsexual advocates — in the camps for teenagers, says De Socio:

 

Paige Morgan is one of the volunteers at the community space for girls. The 19-year-old from Scranton, Pa., also identifies as bisexual and has been glad to see the neighboring LGBTQ community space. “I know the people that are coming through here, like trans, nonbinary youth, the queer youth, are having a great time seeing themselves represented in a space that they love so much, that is scouting,” she said.

 

The scouts face competition from organizations that follow the scouts’ original focus on teenagers’ character development.

Congressman seeks murder charges for fentanyl traffickers

Fentanyl dealers would face tougher criminal penalties under a proposal filed by a New York congressman, which calls for charging those convicted of trafficking the drug with attempted murder.

 

The Fentanyl Kills Act, filed by freshman Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., is the latest proposal in the Republican-majority House of Representatives aimed at cracking down on the sale and distribution of the synthetic opioid. The drug has been tied to Mexican drug smuggling cartels and remains a major driver of the nation’s deadly opioid crisis.

 

Lawler, who represents several upstate New York counties, said the proposal "takes drug traffickers head-on, imposing serious penalties for these criminals who know exactly what they are doing."

 

He said in addition to addiction recovery programs, the federal government needs to focus on stricter laws that discourage fentanyl trafficking.

 

"The fentanyl crisis that is gripping our country and local communities is a serious problem and requires serious consequences for those who peddle this dangerous drug," he said in a statement.

 

Fentanyl is commonly mixed with other narcotics and is considered more than 50 times more powerful than street-level heroin. It is both odorless and tasteless, making detection of the compound by law enforcement difficult.

 

More than 109,000 Americans died of overdoses in 2022, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an increase over the previous year. Fentanyl is blamed for nearly 70% of the fatal overdoses, the federal agency says.

 

Amid the scourge of opioids, states have been toughening drug trafficking laws to target fentanyl suppliers.

 

In June, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed a bill into law which creates a criminal offense of murder for supplying fentanyl that results in death.

 

Virginia has classified fentanyl as a “weapon of terrorism” in addition to biological agents and radioactive bombs in a move to lengthen prison sentences for convicted dealers.

 

Last year, a bipartisan group of 18 attorneys general wrote to President Joe Biden urging him to classify fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction.

There are states where the professional [GOPe] republican grip is tight, and there are states where the MAGA insurgency has gained strength loosening that corporate club grip.Georgia is a state where the party apparatus is gripping the reins tight and not willing to let the populist movement impede their professional political stranglehold.

 

Governor Brian Kemp is to Georgia in 2024 as Govenor Haley Barbour was to Mississippi previously. Kemp controls the party machinery and Kemp has always despised the popular support for Donald Trump, an unacceptable republican in the eyes of the party apparatus. It is not coincidental that Sea Island Georgia is the epicenter of the Wall Street assembly against the populist insurgency. Georgia is a battleground state for Republican power and control.

These included a session with Republican Senators, a meeting with a group of Georgia House Members and House Leader Jon Burns, and a private lunch with Gov. Brian Kemp.

 

The subject of each of these discussions has been kept private, but clearly there was a reason and agenda for DeSantis to visit the Georgia Capitol.

Abstract

 

Nicotinic receptors are distributed throughout the central and peripheral nervous system. Postmortem studies have reported that some nicotinic receptor subtypes are altered in the brains of autistic people. Recent studies have demonstrated the importance of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) in the autistic behavior of BTBR T + tf/J mouse model of autism. This study was undertaken to examine the behavioral effects of targeted nAChRs using pharmacological ligands, including nicotine and mecamylamine in BTBR T + tf/J and C57BL/6J mice in a panel of behavioral tests relating to autism. These behavioral tests included the three-chamber social interaction, self-grooming, marble burying, locomotor activity, and rotarod test. We examined the effect of various oral doses of nicotine (50, 100, and 400 mcg/mL; po) over a period of 2 weeks in BTBR T + tf/J mouse model. The results indicated that the chronic administration of nicotine modulated sociability and repetitive behavior in BTBR T + tf/J mice while no effects observed in C57BL/6J mice. Furthermore, the nonselective nAChR antagonist, mecamylamine, reversed nicotine effects on sociability and increased repetitive behaviors in BTBR T + tf/J mice. Overall, the findings indicate that the pharmacological modulation of nicotinic receptors is involved in modulating core behavioral phenotypes in the BTBR T + tf/J mouse model. LAY SUMMARY: The involvement of brain nicotinic neurotransmission system plays a crucial role in regulating autism-related behavioral features. In addition, the brain of the autistic-like mouse model has a low acetylcholine level. Here, we report that nicotine, at certain doses, improved sociability and reduced repetitive behaviors in a mouse model of autism, implicating the potential therapeutic values of a pharmacological intervention targeting nicotinic receptors for autism therapy. During the raid on the Air Force engineer’s home, authorities found an open computer screen showing the suspect was running radio programming software “which contained the entire Arnold Air Force Base communications system,” Forbes reported.

Authorities also said they found evidence that the engineer had access to FBI and Tennessee state agencies, although they did not elaborate on what information may have been compromised.

I only do for my 1 year old and I like him a lot. It’s a hard decision because I take my 9 and 10 yr old to urgent care if they are really sick (not often) but mostly when I need school excuse, which is a whole other load of bullshit. They will only give 2 day excuse at $150 a pop. Have to go back if they are still sick on day 3 to get another excuse. Yet if the kids go to school with a runny nose or cough they send them home… blah…

If I would start bringing them to this pediatrician then I can just call for excuse.

Basically the system is fucked all around.

We all need to buy land in Country, grow our own food, homeschool our children, and learn natural medicine…

LOS ANGELES (DOJ / Press Release) – A San Fernando Valley man associated with a racially motivated violent extremist group [has been] charged in a criminal complaint with conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

 

Ryan Scott Bradford, 34, of Reseda, was arrested at his residence Thursday and is expected to make his initial appearance this afternoon at United States District Court in downtown Los Angeles.

 

As alleged in the complaint, between 2021 and January 2023, Bradford posted online messages and photographs documenting his use of a 3-D printer to manufacture firearms, as well as calling for the mass murder of Jews.

 

During a search of Bradford’s residence yesterday, agents and officers with the FBI, the DEA and the LAPD recovered 116 rounds of ammunition, which Bradford is prohibited from possessing due to a 2012 burglary conviction; firearms parts – including two 3D printed auto sears and five “switches,” both of which are used to convert semi-automatic firearms into fully-automatic firearms; two 3D printers, one of which had swastikas painted on it; various Nazi propaganda; and an apparent improvised explosive device (IED). Following the discovery of the apparent IED yesterday morning, law enforcement temporarily shut down streets in the vicinity of Bradford’s residence.

 

“As alleged, this convicted felon affiliated with a violent white supremacist group who espouses horrific acts of violence against Jews appears to be manufacturing firearms and possessing an improvised explosive device,” said United States Attorney Martin Estrada. “The potential danger to the community cannot be overstated. We will continue to investigate this matter to ensure that this defendant is held accountable for his crimes, and to keep our community safe from acts of violence motivated by racist and hateful ideology.”

 

“The defendant is a self-described anti-Semite associated with a white supremacist group which espouses the hatred of Jews and other minorities,” said Donald Alway, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office. “Hateful rhetoric that crosses the line into violence will get the attention of law enforcement and those who engage in such extremism will be held accountable should they act upon their violent rhetoric.”

 

“Dangerous individuals that conspire to distribute synthetic drugs, such as methamphetamine, are driving addiction and death in our communities,” said DEA Los Angeles Special Agent in Charge Bill Bodner. “The interagency collaboration with our local and federal partners was instrumental in preventing further violence and harm in our neighborhoods.”

The woodpecker is a logo used by the San Fernando Valley Peckerwoods, a racially motivated violent extremist group based in Los Angeles County. The Peckerwoods originated in the California state prison system and its members have engaged in racially motivated violence, drug and illegal firearms trafficking, and fraud, according to the affidavit.

 

As alleged in the complaint, Bradford – using online usernames referencing the Peckerwoods – used messaging applications such as Telegram to post racist remarks against Jewish people, including calling for mass murder and genocide of Jews. Law enforcement recovered from Bradford’s residence a calendar with a handwritten note stating: “New Year’s Resolution: Take over the world – save Aryan race Bake every single Jew.” Bradford also posted links and instruction manuals on Telegram concerning hand grenades, biological warfare, and the “Aryan Revolution,” and he offered to make firearms and firearm parts for others using 3-D printers, according to the complaint.

 

The affidavit further alleges that Bradford sent text messages in November 2022 to coordinate the distribution of methamphetamine and sent two photographs of methamphetamine to a buyer. The complaint alleges that he conspired with Kris Dean Drakakis, 42, another member of the Peckerwoods, who was indicted on June 30 on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl; possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes; and being a felon in possession of ammunition. Drakakis has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has an August 22 trial date scheduled. He is in federal custody.

Republican rivals circle around ‘low energy’ Trump

The former US president’s mounting legal issues are hurting his candidacy for president, a GOP rival has warned

 

Donald Trump’s deepening legal woes have rendered him a far less compelling candidate for president, Republican rival Chris Sununu has warned, as several top GOP figures spoke out against the former reality TV star’s campaign for re-election to the White House on Sunday.

 

“This is not the Donald Trump of 2016, don’t fool yourself,” New Hampshire’s Republican Governor Chris Sununu – a noted Trump critic – said during an interview with ABC on Sunday. “He doesn’t have the energy, he doesn’t have the fastball.”

 

Sununu, who is not running for president in 2024, added that Trump’s candidacy effectively boils down to him “droning on for 90 minutes in his long-form speeches about his legal battles, as opposed to talking about the future of the country.”

 

Polling data indicates that Trump tops the list of Republican contenders vying to challenge presumptive Democratic candidate Joe Biden next year, even as the former president remains mired in various legal issues.

 

However, Sununu suggests that Trump’s consistent claims of witch-hunts and political persecutions are beginning to sound hollow. “Ever seen a soap opera?” he said to ABC’s Jonathan Karl. “They get kind of boring. The only thing worse is the re-run of the soap opera. And that is what he is bringing.”

 

Elsewhere on Sunday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also joined in on the Trump pile-on. Speaking to CNN while referencing Trump’s federal indictment for allegedly illegally retaining classified government documents at his Florida estate and the subsequent claims of obstruction of justice, Christie said that “these guys were acting like the Corleones with no experience.”

 

Trump is also heavily linked to a separate federal indictment linked to his actions ahead of the January 6, 2021 riots at the US Capitol. He denies all wrongdoing.

 

Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican presidential candidate 40 years Trump’s junior, also spoke to CNN on Sunday but said that, should Trump be convicted in the classified documents case, he would move to pardon the former president from what he described as a “politicized prosecution.”

 

Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley toed a similar line on CBS on Sunday. Trump’s alleged actions, if proven true, were “incredibly dangerous to our national security” but that a presidential pardon under her administration could be in the best interests of the country.

 

However, addressing the charges against Trump – and perhaps even the ex-president himself – Haley added that “we have to move forward. We’ve got to quit living in the past.”

 

And in comments seemingly aimed at Ramaswamy’s apparent fealty to Trump, Haley added that “anybody who promises pardons during a presidential campaign is not serving our system of justice.

Multiple tweets posted on July 25, 2023, were described as showing the mass surrender of Ukrainian troops. The video shows a column of military vehicles with a line of what appear to be soldiers marching in a single file alongside.

 

The film shared on Twitter, claiming to show Ukrainian prisoners captured in a moment of mass surrender, is an example of deceptive framing.

 

The footage was taken more than a month ago when the paramilitary Wagner Group, led by Yevgeny Prigozhin, exchanged prisoners of war with Ukraine.

 

A Telegram post that included a video of Prigozhin speaking to exchanged soldiers, was posted on May 26, 2023, on an official Wagner Telegram channel. The post includes Russian text (translated via Deepl) states "Exchange of prisoners 25.05.23 Statement by E. V. Prigozhin."

 

Aerial footage of the exchange can be seen at around 4:40 in the clip.

 

The same footage was published by a number of media outlets including The Telegraph and The Wall Street Journal.
