==Biden to host Albanese for official US visit, including state dinner

US President Joe Biden’s last-minute cancellation is a blow to Anthony Albanese and means the Quad summit is no longer in Sydney.==

US President Joe Biden will host Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for an official visit in October.

“I am honoured to accept President Biden’s invitation to undertake an official visit to Washington DC,” Albanese said in a statement on Thursday.

“Australia and the United States have a longstanding relationship, based on deep friendship and trust and a shared commitment to peace, the rule of law and the values of democracy.

“My visit is an important opportunity to discuss our ambitious climate and clean energy transition, and shared goal of a strong, secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific.”

Biden first invited Albanese to the White House after he was forced to cancel a planned trip to Canberra and Sydney earlier this year because of emergency US debt ceiling negotiations.

Elon Musk responds to ABC's decision to withdraw majority of accounts from Twitter

Elon Musk has condemned the ABC’s mass exodus from his social media platform in the latest stoush between the public broadcaster and Twitter

Twitter boss Elon Musk has accused the ABC of wanting "censorship" after the public broadcaster's decision to abandon the social media platform en masse.

The public broadcaster announced it would close most of its official Twitter accounts from Wednesday.

It claimed a number of reasons were behind the move including a “vast majority” of its social media audience being based on other platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.

Following the announcement the Twitter boss took to his platform – now known as X – to blast the public broadcaster.

“Well of course they prefer censorship-friendly social media,” Musk said.

“The Australian public does not.”

In a statement defending the decision, ABC Managing Director David Anderson also claimed leaving the platform would limit its exposure to “toxic interactions” adding Twitter had “reduced its trust and safety teams”.

“Additionally, it is introducing charges which make the platform increasingly costly to use,” he said on Wednesday.

Musk’s brutal rebuke of the decision comes after a clash over Twitter’s disclosure labels which described the public broadcaster as “government-funded media”.

In response, the ABC told SkyNews.com.au in April it did not have “any plans to shut down” its Twitter accounts and said it was liaising with the platform regarding the new labels.

But Musk defended the move – which was applied to multiple government-funded media accounts all across the world – and said Twitter’s goal was “simply to be as truthful and accurate as possible”.

The labels were later dropped.

ABC’s self-removal from Twitter comes a month after it announced as many as 100 jobs cuts as part of a major restructure to a digital-first model.

Over the next five years, the ABC will invest more resources in made-for-digital content and journalism across platforms such as ABC iView, ABC Listen and ABC News.

According to Mr Anderson over the next four years the ABC is set to see the strongest audience growth on TikTok, a platform recently criticised by a senate committee investigating foreign interference.

The Chinese-based company fronted the joint standing committee earlier this month where it was grilled over its data collection processes and an incident where TikTok spied on an American journalist in a bid to track internal leaks.

Scientist admits the ‘overwhelming consensus’ on the climate change crisis is ‘manufactured’

We are told climate change is a crisis, and that there is an “overwhelming scientific consensus.”

“It’s a manufactured consensus,” climate scientist Judith Curry tells me.

She says scientists have an incentive to exaggerate risk to pursue “fame and fortune.”

She knows about that because she once spread alarm about climate change.

Media loved her when she published a study that seemed to show a dramatic increase in hurricane intensity.

“We found that the percent of Category 4 and 5 hurricanes had doubled,” says Curry.

“This was picked up by the media,” and then climate alarmists realized, “Oh, here is the way to do it. Tie extreme weather events to global warming!”

“So, this hysteria is your fault!” I tell her.

“Not really,” she smiles.

“They would have picked up on it anyways.”

But Curry’s “more intense” hurricanes gave them fuel.

“I was adopted by the environmental advocacy groups and the alarmists and I was treated like a rock star,” Curry recounts.

“Flown all over the place to meet with politicians.”

But then some researchers pointed out gaps in her research — years with low levels of hurricanes.

“Like a good scientist, I investigated,” says Curry.

She realized that the critics were right.

“Part of it was bad data. Part of it is natural climate variability.”

Curry was the unusual researcher who looked at criticism of her work and actually concluded “they had a point.”

Then the Climategate scandal taught her that other climate researchers weren’t so open-minded.

Alarmist scientists’ aggressive attempts to hide data suggesting climate change is not a crisis were revealed in leaked emails.

Woman charged with performing sex act on her dog after ex-boyfriend finds disturbing footage: ‘She is heard saying good boy’

A Michigan woman was arrested this week for performing a sex act on her dog after her ex discovered disturbing footage of the encounter on security cameras and turned it over to cops.

Brittany McClure, 30, was arrested for sodomy and animal abuse for the alleged assault of the couple’s dog Max, Fox 2 Detroit reported.

The woman’s ex-boyfriend found a video of her performing the act on their dog while reviewing footage on surveillance cameras he set up in the living room of their shared home in Taylor, according to the outlet.

Police said that the man turned the upsetting six minutes of footage over to investigators.

“In that video, it shows defendant Brittany McClure lying on the living room floor on a mattress with a blanket. She opens the blanket and calls the dog over,” Taylor Det. Philip Collop said in court on Wednesday, according to Fox 2. “She is heard saying ‘good boy’.”

Another cop with the Taylor police department said he never saw something as shocking in his over two decades on the job.

“[It was] plain as day: his ex-girlfriend performing fellatio on their dog named Max and her attempts to get Max to reciprocate,” Lt. Frank Canning said. “Kind of an interest in fetish stuff that was seen on the internet. I don’t know that any justification could justify these acts. She did own up to performing these acts on Max.”
