It is well known that people who are used to a couple of stiff belts every night, and drink everyday, can't limit themselves to just two drinks a week.
in fact when people like that are admitted into hospitals often doctors will understand and let them take their usual shots of liquor like the have every evening their whole adult life or else the person starts getting the Delirium Tremors and that's not very healthy.
if Jim did illegal things he's got to face the piper and deal with justice in courts, etc.
but there is also how he stands with The Lord.
so I understand what you post however, a man can have done things considered mortal sin but he can still make good with The Lord, anon.
that doesn't absolve him of his crimes and he still has to face the music in a human court.
but that doesn't mean that he won't atone and do good so that when this life is over he'll be amoung rightous and the saved.
