leadership killed during the Russian revolution (royals too), Kronstadt rebellion. famine, 1921 New Economic Policy, Lenin's death & the leadership troika which was taken over by Stalin, civil war, Henry Ford luring Americans to work in USSR (most die in the 30's purges), collective farms made mandatory, sealing/famine of Ukraine (holodomor), Kirov assassination by Stalin in 1934, increasing purge of the engineers, then of "comrades", Great Terror and show trials of 1937, gulag filling with the purged, publication of Darkness at Noon 1939, execution of Soviet military leaders 1941, "friendship" with US during WW2, purging of those involved in friendship after the war, Cosmopolitan Campaign (anti-jew) late 40s, Stalin's death in 1953…..
