During CNN’s live coverage of Trump’s motorcade to the Fulton County, Georgia jail for the former President’s arraignment on Erin Burnett OutFront, fill-in anchor Kaitlan Collins and correspondent Sara Murray fretted that Trump would use his new mugshot “to his political advantage” and fundraise off the photo to help his presidential campaign. “Trump himself has been not downplaying this. I mean, he is certainly seeing how he uses these exact moments to his political advantage,” Collins kvetched. Murray then jumped in to agree that Trump “uses these for fundraising, he uses these to rally his base.” Due to this, she openly regretted the plan to release Trump’s mugshot.

The institutions that we should trust, such as the media, our education system, our justice system (including some in the judiciary), our political leaders and, yes, even our church leaders have let us down, allowing those on the slippery slope to weaken the important messages of freedom and liberty and the battle plans those American citizens need so desperately to hear.

 

We must not bend to the pressure of the day. Ours is not a choice, but a necessity. We have a responsibility to those who come after us, those future generations of Americans who count on us at this moment as we counted on generations throughout our nation’s storied history.

 

We cannot selfishly hold dear to our hearts the freedoms, rights and privileges that were handed to us; instead, we must try to imagine what it must have been like for those who truly risked their lives to escape a regime to get to this country, especially for those whose blood now runs deep in our very soil from their sacrifices and respect for God, authority, our flag and respect itself.

NASA Experience Enables Advance of Small Business’s Humanoid Robot

NASA’s experience in developing humanoid robots designed to work together with astronauts is playing a crucial role in the advancement of the robotics industry. In part thanks to this expertise, one of the agency’s small business partners recently unveiled a humanoid robot for Earth-based applications.

 

Apptronik, Inc. of Austin, Texas, has worked with NASA via SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) contracts to collaborate on the development of its robot, named Apollo, which aims to improve the human experience through a wide range of service abilities.

 

While Apollo is designed for use on Earth in logistics, manufacturing, home delivery and patient care, NASA is interested in potentially adapting the robots for use in space to serve as assistants for astronauts living and working on the surface of the Moon and Mars, and to act as remote “avatars” for human operators on Earth.

 

The NASA collaboration with Apptronik focused on the modularity of the robot, which allows it to be reconfigured to perform different functions. It can be equipped with different levels of dexterity, autonomy, and the ability to utilize tools depending on which tasks it needs to perform. NASA also contributed expertise on how to develop mobility and software features that provide safe robotic operation when working alongside humans.

 

“By applying NASA’s expertise in human-safe mobile robots to commercial projects, together we are able to spur innovation in this important field,” says Shaun Azimi, lead of the dexterous robotics team at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. “We are proud to see our efforts result in robotics technology that will benefit the American economy and assist humans in working safely and productively here on Earth and potentially in space exploration as well.”

 

General purpose robots of many forms, including humanoids, could be used on the lunar and Martian surface to offload mundane and dangerous tasks from astronauts, enabling humans to focus on science and exploration. Robots could also assist with the maintenance of resource utilization plants that would allow astronauts to live off resources found on the surface.

 

While the agency’s current humanoid robot platform, Valkyrie, could help humans in these situations, another option for the agency could be to adapt commercial general purpose robots for space applications, as is the approach taken by the CoSTAR (Collaborative SubTerranean Autonomos Robots) project, managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California. CoSTAR is iterating on a commercial robot to develop one that could autonomously explore caves, pits, tunnels, and other subsurface terrain on the Moon and Mars. NASA plans to collaborate in a similar fashion using robots from many industry partners, including companies like Apptronik.

 

Using robots to enhance Artemis missions could help humanity build a long-term presence on the lunar surface and one day on other planets like Mars. Through domestic and international commercial partnerships, NASA is creating the next generation of human-scale robotic capabilities.

 

The NASA SBIR program is part of NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate and is managed by NASA’s Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley. NASA’s Valkyrie robot is managed by NASA’s Johnson Space Center Engineering Directorate in Houston, Texas.

ELLINGTON FIELD, Texas – U.S. Space Force Chief of Space Operations Gen. Chance Saltzman visited the 147th Attack Wing in Houston, Texas, August 18, 2023. Saltzman’s visit highlighted the importance of seamless integration and collaboration in the air and space domains.

 

While at Ellington Field, Saltzman observed the wing’s primary mission and met with Airmen responsible for the operations and support of the MQ-9 Reaper.

 

The advanced capabilities of the MQ-9, which plays a pivotal role in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and combat support, highlight the complimentary nature between Air Force operations and Space Force assets. These assets, including communication satellites and the GPS constellation, are critical in ensuring the success of the 147th Attack Wing’s MQ-9 mission.

 

“If we don’t have space, we don’t have a mission,” said Col. Travis Walters, 147th Attack Wing Commander. “Without the communications and GPS satellites that U.S. Space Force Guardians provide, we could not do what we do here on a daily basis 24/7 to support the combatant commands.”

 

Walters also emphasized the significance of the collaboration between the 147th Attack Wing and civilian partners. He highlighted the fact that, as in many Guard and Reserve units, members have long tenured ties to the community and local businesses. “We have Airmen that fix and fly airplanes on drill weekends bringing with them the culture and expertise that resides in the community,” said Walters.

 

During the visit, Saltzman had the opportunity to meet with elected officials, including Rep. Brian Babin, Texas 36th Congressional District, key leaders from the Texas Military Department, including Maj. Gen. Thomas Suelzer, Texas Adjutant General, and civilian sector partners from the Houston space ecosystem.

 

“Not everybody understands how space directly supports their mission,” said Saltzman. “Clearly this is a wing that understands how space helps, contributes, and enables the mission that you do for the joint force.”

 

Saltzman’s visit to the 147th Attack Wing symbolizes the evolving nature of military operations in the 21st century. The Joint Force is embracing the interconnected nature of space, cyber, and more traditional military capabilities to meet challenges presented by today’s dynamic national security environment.

 

The 147th Attack Wing’s integration and understanding of space’s role in enabling Air Force capabilities exemplifies the future of holistic defense strategies where collaboration and technological prowess combine to successfully achieve military objectives.

India's Chandrayaan-3 moon rover Pragyan rolls onto the lunar surface for 1st time

India has nailed another milestone in its smashing Chandrayaan-3 moon mission. Less than a day after the historic touchdown, its Pragyan rover rolled out of the lander and onto the lunar surface.

 

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) announced the successful deployment of Pragyan, a sanskrit word for wisdom, in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

 

"The Ch-3 Rover ramped down from the Lander and India took a walk on the moon!" ISRO said in the post at about 11:00 pm EDT, Wednesday, Aug. 23 (0300 GMT on Thursday, Aug. 24).

 

In a subsequent post, the organization confirmed that "all activities are on schedule" and "all systems are normal."

 

The solar-powered Pragyan descended onto the moon's surface on Wednesday aboard the Chandrayaan-3's Vikram (sanskrit for valor) lander in what was India's first successful moon landing and the world's first landing near the lunar south pole.

 

Pragyan will now spend two weeks exploring the vicinity of the landing site, studying the chemical composition of moon dust and gravel. The moon's south pole has become a focus of attention for the global moon science and exploration community in recent years because this region is believed to hold substantial quantities of water ice in the rocks of its permanently shadowed polar craters. Scientists think this water could be extracted and used by future human crews, which would bring down the cost of moon exploration as water wouldn't have to be brought from Earth. This water could also be split into hydrogen and oxygen and used to make fuel for rockets that might be launching from the moon in the future.

 

Astronomers are also eyeing those shaded and thermally stable craters as a possible location for next-generation telescopes that would allow them to peer deeper into the universe than is currently possible.

 

The solar-powered Pragyan and its companion Vikram are not expected to last beyond the next lunar night, a frigid two-week period without sunshine.

 

Chandrayaan-3 touched down on the lunar surface on Wednesday at 8:33 am ET (1233 GMT or 6:03 p.m. India Standard Time). About four hours later, ISRO shared a set of four images captured by the lander's cameras during descent and one image taken after touchdown, revealing a pockmarked lunar surface and the lander's own shadow.

 

Chandrayaan-3 was India's second try at landing near the moon's south pole. The mission's predecessor, Chandrayaan-2, crashed into the moon in September 2019 due to a software glitch. India celebrated the triumphant landing only three days after Russia failed to land its Luna-25 mission in the same area following a botched orbital maneuver. Russia's first try to land on the moon in 47 years, Luna-25 was the former space super power's attempt to restore respect for its struggling space sector amid the war in Ukraine, which has made it an international pariah.

There are no studies about whether supplementing with vitamin D will help prevent dementia or improve the condition because testing is expensive and pharmaceutical companies cannot make large profits.

Studies have shown that individuals with higher levels of vitamin D were 59% less likely to get dementia. Vitamin D can also help prevent fractures and bone loss.

 

Campbell said that UK national health guidelines advise minute doses of vitamin D at 10 micrograms (400 international units) of vitamin D a day. He says that he takes ten times that amount (100 micrograms or 4000 iu). He recommended sunlight that can produce 20,000 units of vitamin D per day without burning.

Thousands of children are still missing after the Maui fires and authorities are refusing to answer questions about them. It is unclear how many children died in the fires and if their parents have also died. There is a long list of incompetent and wilful actions by the government that contributed to the deaths including restriction of water, failure to use the siren system, and police blockades that trapped people in their cars. An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The Constitution’s Article II, Section 1 states that “[t]he executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” As a result, President Donald Trump has executive authority granted to him by virtue of his office. Certain benefits and even executive immunity flow from that power. These privileges include those that are specifically listed in the Constitution. For instance, the impeachment procedure stipulates in Article II, Section 4, that for all “high Crimes and Misdemeanors,” the president “shall be removed from Office.”

 

In other words, the Constitution specifies a procedure for the prosecution of American presidents: impeachment. The peculiar nature of the office of the president calls for impeachment rather than ordinary prosecution (and associated penalties like incarceration). As a result of his position, the president exposes himself to excessive media attention, controversy, and risk. Therefore, the punitive measures that are specific to executive officeholders are in line with the responsibilities and authority of the office. Additionally, one could argue that regardless of the personality and fitness of the office’s holder, the president has a specific constitutional right to protect the office’s integrity. That would specifically entail refraining from imprisoning the officeholder or prior occupants of the office due to alleged criminal activity committed while the officeholder was president. Because of this, the Department of Justice has affirmed that “to wound [the President] by a criminal proceeding is to hamstring the operation of the whole governmental apparatus, both in foreign and domestic affairs.” (Memorandum from Robert G. For almost 80 years, one puzzling question about UFOs has persisted: Do their actions suggest a deliberate strategy? A recent SCU study was aimed at illuminating this very enigma, exploring the interaction between UFO sightings and America’s crucial atomic warfare infrastructure.

 

Drawing from historical academic research and official government records, the study centered on incidents reported from 1945 to 1975. In Justice Story’s 1833 Commentaries on the Constitution, he expresses his conviction in the above stated interpretation of double jeopardy: “In case of an acquittal,” he wrote, “there cannot be another trial of the party for the same offence in the common tribunals of justice.” This is an even stronger argument for this interpretation. Similar to the New Hampshire Constitution of 1784, which contained the first bill of rights to explicitly establish a double jeopardy clause, this viewpoint is shared by several state constitutions that precede the federal Constitution but yet offered interpretive guidance. Acquittal is taken into account in the double jeopardy provision of the New Hampshire Constitution: “No subject shall be liable to be tried, after an acquittal, for the same crime or offence.” The Federal and State Constitutions, 4 F. Thorpe, Art. I, Sec. XCI, reproduced in H.R. Doc. No. 357, 59th Congress, 2d Sess. 2455 (1909).

 

A more recent OLC letter from 2000 states that after a constitutional impeachment results in acquittal, all available legal remedies for redressability have been exhausted; as a result, bringing charges against the officeholder in the future would be a flagrant instance of double jeopardy. According to this theory, the OLC memo acquiesced, saying: “Even if one took the view that the Impeachment Judgment Clause’s reference to ‘the party convicted’ implied that acquitted parties could not be criminally prosecuted, that implication would naturally extend only to individuals who had been impeached by the House and acquitted by the Senate.” “Whether a Former President May Be Indicted and Tried for the Same Offense for Which He Was Impeached by the House and Acquitted by the Senate,” 24 Op. O.L.C. 110, 112 n.2 (2000).

 

According to the Supreme Court, “the Double Jeopardy Clause prohibits merely punishing twice, or attempting a second time to punish criminally, for the same offense.” Mitchell v. Helvering, 303 U.S. 391, 399 (1938). There is simply no alternative kind of legal redress that is allowable under the Constitution because the president has already been prosecuted—twice—for the alleged crimes supporting both of Jack Smith’s charges.

PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. – The north gate on Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, is the busiest gate on base, with peak traffic times being from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m., according to Tim Omdal, 21st Security Forces Squadron deputy director. If more people switch their commute and drive on base through the west gate, this could help alleviate traffic at the north gate, Omdal said. (Courtesy photo)

WASHINGTON — Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station will officially become U.S. Space Force bases.

 

These Colorado-based installations are home to the largest concentration of Space Force personnel. Space Force units there conduct space control, surveillance, missile defense and other operational missions.

 

The bases will be renamed Schriever Space Force Base, Peterson Space Force Base and Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station in ceremonies planned for July 26.

 

“The new names will better reflect the installations roles in the U.S. Space Force,” the spokesman said. “This action is part of the overall initiative by the Department of the Air Force to establish a unique identity and culture within the U.S. Space Force.”

 

Since the Space Force was established in December 2019, former Air Force bases focused on space have been rebranded, including Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, New Boston Space Force Station in New Hampshire, and Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.

 

The one remaining Air Force base that has yet to be renamed is Los Angeles Air Force Base, home of the Space and Missile Systems Center. The Space Force plans to replace SMC with a new Space Systems Command to be based at the Los Angeles base.

Dr. Alonso, known as “the face of the COVID-19 pandemic in Palm Beach County,” was given free rein during the COVID pandemic to enforce arbitrary restrictions upon millions of Floridians, including the implementation of mask mandates, establishment of a COVID hotline for lockdown snitches, and even creating an armed COVID compliance police force. Under her direction, Palm Beach County even shuttered playgrounds when other areas, including outside Florida, had already reversed on the matter. She was subsequently recognized as USA Today‘s “Woman of the Year” for her work in the country, and gloated: “This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. I’m not being stopped.” Under the advice of Alonso amongst others, DeSantis ordered major shutdowns of Florida’s beaches and businesses in both Broward and Palm Beach counties. Palm Beach County has seen teachers suspended teachers for failing to comply with mask mandates, including one who was arrested and convicted. The locale also collected $24,500 in COVID-related fines and shut down a staggering 27 businesses during Dr. Alonso’s tenure. Yet, DeSantis did little to intervene, with one incident from July 2020 where Dr. Rivkees, then the Surgeon General, had contacted Alonso telling her to stay out of the business of reopening schools, but nothing else and certainly nothing further such as firing Florida’s own Fauci, as DeSantis claims he would’ve done had he been President in 2020. Her role lay directly beneath DeSantis’s handpicked Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo from July 2021. Alonso very publicly called Dr. Fauci “a national hero and a source of inspiration,” as well as her “patron saint” in an interview with the Palm Beach Post. She even laughed off the idea that DeSantis was a more difficult executive to deal with than Donald Trump, telling a reporter, “[Dr. Fauci] has a harder job than me. I got a piece of cake here.” Alonso made multiple donations to President Biden throughout her stint as Florida’s Fauci, including six donations of $25, two donations of $237.13, and one of $301.08 – all of which were publicly available at the time. She recently retired of her own volition, heralding the tenure – again, under DeSantis – of Dr. Jyothi Gunta, who Alonso herself claims: “will make a great new director.”
