they say the 1st is not absolute either, just look at the stupid idea of hate speech laws. The constitution is only as valid as the people who seek to defend it and live by it. The added problem is that people who think that by adding the god portion to the rights would protect it seem to forget that that idea is not shared by everyone either. So to have any reverence for it even as just a set of ideas is gone for them. This is why it is allowed to be altered and they are using a post modernist language manipulation set to try to whittle away at the language and try to create cracks. Which is exactly what has happened and when you have political judges over the 200+ years also adding interpretations etc to the this, makes it even more difficult.
