On a bottle of L-Lysine it says promotes lip health. It has been shown to shorten the outbreak of herpes cold sores on lips. there was a study done in Costa Rica I think that showed it works as a prophylactic against COVID. I don't know about genital herpes specifically but it stands to reason. I can attest that it works on cold sores, when I feel the tingly feeling of a cold sore starting I take 2000 mg twice a day and it either stops it right then or the outbreak is barely there.
