"Is it live, or is it Memorex"

In 1961 Memorex was founded.

Memorex entered the consumer media business in 1971 and started the ad campaign, first with its "shattering glass" advertisements and then with a series of legendary television commercials featuring Ella Fitzgerald.

In the commercials, she would sing a note that shattered a glass while being recorded to a Memorex audio cassette.

The tape was played back and the recording also broke the glass, asking "Is it live, or is it Memorex?"

This would become the company slogan which was used in a series of advertisements released through 1970s and 1980s.

>Is it live, or is it Memorex?

Memorex USB device can be put into 'machines' for various things like:

  1. Downloading log files and or history.

  2. Allowing the hardware to receive a software upgrade.

  3. Adding additional memory.

  4. Adding a type of security by requiring it to be an authenticated device.

  5. Etc.

  6. Flipping pancakes or votes, most likely votes.

Memorex USB is just an example device from an example manufacture.

Besides USB devices, most SMART stuff have WiFi and/or Bluetooth that updates itself over the internet.

What's next, updates using the latest HDMI connections?

This reminds me of that long ago 'world wide attack' of the Internet Of Things, where coffee machines were involved.
