John 1:47

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, โ€œHere truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.โ€

Why didn't Jesus call Nathanael a jew?

Because Nathanael was from Bethsaida, which was located in the region where the old Kingdom of Israel was. Jesus was from Nazareth, which was located in the region of the Kingdom of Judea.

This is important.

The Kingdom of Israel is not the Kingdom of Judea. Neither is Judea, Israel.
