Desantis Hit with FEC Complaint for Illegal PAC Coordination

"The Campaign Legal Center in Washington, DC filed a devastating 39-page complaint with the FEC today alleging illegal coordination between Ron Desantis's presidential campaign and his allied Never Back Down PAC.
The complaint comes on the heels of a lengthy expose by the Washington Post over the weekend that alleged widespread coordination between the two groups, which is illegal. The founder and director of the PAC, Jeff Roe, resigned his position hours after the article was published. The complaint referenced some of the information in the Washington Post story.
The complaint alleges that the PAC and the campaign coordinated with each other illegally for months. The complaint notes that the PAC received over $130 million in contributions from only 191 donations. It alleges that these megadonors have illegally circumvented campaign finance laws by making six-figure contributions to a PAC that was coordinating with the campaign.
The complaint cites many examples of coordination. It notes that the same law firm represented the campaign and the PAC, and that it was seeded with $82 million in funds leftover from Desantis's reelection campaign for governor and controlled by long-time Desantis loyalists. Desantis's first campaign manager Generra Peck developed the strategy for the PAC and selected the people to lead it."
