Amen anon! Anon read the Book of Samuel, specifically, chapter 8. The people are in the process of selecting the first King of Israel, which would be the pathetic king Saul. They chose Saul because he was a war hero and the people placed him on a pedestal. They want Saul as their King.

Never once did the people even think about selecting GOD as their leader. Thus, because they had rejected HIM, GOD rejected the people and told Samuel that he should annoint Saul as their king, as the people wished.

This Book and chapter tell us a lot about our predicament of today.

We should be selecting GOD as our leader!!!

Yes sir! But because Saul was a big hero when the Ammonites raided his town, word spread across the land of Israel about his leadership, feats, and bravery. The people were caught up in his celebrity and put him on a pedestal. The forgot all about his past aggressions towards the people. His fame covered up the wounds. The people got burned by their decision to choose Saul. He took away a lot of freedoms and he was a war monger like Samuel warned.
