Yeah AI just came out of fucking nowhere it seems, it's saturating everything all of a sudden…I've watched some B grade documentaries from the mid-2000's that had narrators which, at the time I could not tell were AI but after listening to thousand fucking TikTok and Youtube videos using human-sounding AI I can tell they've been using for narration at least 20 years ago.
The good news is if AI can make it, AI can detect whether AI made it. That deepfake defense might work on the public for a time but not forensically, they would just need to run that sort of evidence through the proper experts and release the news coupled with their reports. We also have some alright tools that detect AI but there are probably much better options not released to the public.
