Investigation underway after reports of active shooter at Lakewood Church

 

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Heavy police presence can be seen surrounding Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church after reports of an active shooter in southwest Houston on Sunday.

 

The video above is ABC13's 24/7 livestream.

 

The Harris County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a possible shooting at the megachurch near the Southwest Freeway shortly after 2 p.m.

 

The 2 p.m. Spanish-speaking service had just begun when chaos erupted. A witness told Eyewitness News that she heard several shots being fired while in the choir room.

 

"The whole church started praying and declaring Jesus' name," she said. "I was like, 'This might be the last time I get to pray, that I get to glorify the name of Jesus, so I'm going to do this.'"

 

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said a possible suspect was shot by deputies. It is unclear if there is more than one suspect or if anyone has been detained.

 

ABC13 crews were at the church, where crowds of people, including children, could be seen evacuating the worship center. Churchgoers are being taken to Lamar High School to reunite with families after several were separated amid the havoc.

 

Video shared with Eyewitness News shows a perspective from inside the church when rapid gunfire can be heard, and people begin to scurry.

 

One man said he heard 20 to 30 gunshots when he ran out of the megachurch with his three young daughters. Authorities have not confirmed how many shots were fired or if there are any injuries.

 

The Houston Police Department warns drivers to avoid the area. As of 3 p.m., the feeder road near Highway 69 at Edloe Street was closed as authorities continued to investigate.

Ukraine ‘must accept new reality’ – Kremlin

 

Kiev will have to accept the “new reality” first before any new talks with Moscow can actually start, presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said

 

Ukrainian authorities must accept the new conditions no matter how “painful” it might be for them, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. He was responding to a question on the prospects of new talks between the two warring countries.

 

Peskov made the remarks in an interview released by Russian journalist Pavel Zarubin on Sunday. Should Russia and Ukraine ever actually get back to the negotiating table, the potential talks will not be the same as those held early in the ongoing conflict, Peskov suggested.

 

“Should we begin the same negotiations, there’s a completely different reality now. And this new reality, no matter how painful it may be for the Kiev regime, must be recognized,” he stressed.

 

While Peskov did not elaborate, he presumably referred to the territorial changes, namely incorporation of the four formerly Ukrainian regions, Zaporozhye and Kherson, as well as Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics into Russia following referendums in late 2022.

 

Kiev, however, has repeatedly vowed to seize all its former territories from Moscow, including Crimea which broke away from Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2014 Maidan coup and subsequently joined Russia.

 

The March 2022 negotiations between Moscow and Kiev culminated in the signature of a preliminary agreement between the two nations, signed in Istanbul. The deal, obliged Russia to withdraw its troops from around the Ukrainian capital, but Kiev violated the agreement almost immediately after it had been signed.

 

According to recent revelations by David Arakhamia, the leader of president Vladimir Zelensky’s party in the Ukrainian parliament, and a key negotiator at the botched talks, then-UK PM Boris Johnson played a pivotal role in orchestrating the failure of the talks. As Arakhamia put it, Johnson at the time simply told the Ukrainians “let’s just continue fighting” and urged them not to sign anything with Russia.

 

Moscow has repeatedly insisted it was ready to settle the hostilities through negotiations, blaming the lack of any diplomatic effort on the matter on Kiev. The stance was reiterated by the Russian President Vladimir Putin during the conversation with the American journalist Tucker Carlson last week.

 

“The President of Ukraine [Vladimir Zelensky] has legislated a ban on negotiating with Russia. He signed a decree forbidding everyone to negotiate with Russia. But how are we going to negotiate if he forbade himself and everyone to do this? We know that he is putting forward some ideas about this settlement. But in order to agree on something, we need to have a dialogue,” Putin stated.

Announcer Joe Buck says that he is more than willing not to be present in Las Vegas for Sunday’s Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Former WWE, WrestleMania III Star Accused of Murdering His Wife, Holding a Two-Hour Standoff With Police

Billy Jack Haynes, a former WWE star, has been accused of shooting and killing his 85-year-old wife before an hours-long standoff with police.

 

Haynes, 70, legal name William Albert Haynes, was a fixture of the Portland wrestling scene and appeared at WrestleMania III. He is suspected of killing his “angel” wife, Janette Becraft, on the morning of February 8 at his home in the Lents neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

 

Tactical teams swarmed the home after reports of a shooting, but Haynes refused to leave, leading to a two-hour standoff with police. He “eventually came out” and was taken into custody, and was later brought to a hospital for another issue. When police searched the home, they found Becraft shot dead.

 

No motive has been released for the killing, and formal charges have not been announced yet.

 

Haynes had reportedly settled down at the house after retiring from wrestling alongside Becraft, who was the mother of another pro wrestler, Tod Becraft, who fought under the name Tod Ruhl.

The two were reportedly best friends, and met as children. When Becraft’s husband Dwight passed away, she married Haynes.

 

An obituary for Tod Becraft, who died in 2021, reads: “Billy Jack Haynes was Tod’s best friend. They met when Tod was nine years old. After Dwight passed away, Janette and Billy Jack married. Janette named her guinea pig Lil’ Todster, after her beloved son.”

 

Becraft’s daughter, Kim Becraft Finlay, wrote on Facebook: “You are now flying with the Angels. They are lucky to have such a beautiful soul. Love you Mom.”

 

Her niece, Sue Becraft, wrote: “When a family member is murdered, as my Aunt Jan was this past Thursday morning in Portland, all that comes flooding back is the endless work her daughter did to get her away from her abuser,” wrote her niece Sue Becraft. “Hearing the pain and heartbreak in her voice as she tells me ‘He shot her this morning, she didn’t make it.’”

 

“She loved her mother deeply and did all she could, but services she called to help her, only failed her and Jan.”

 

The two were well known in the area, according to neighbor Steve Odry, who told local outlet KOIN, “He was telling me all kinds of stories about old wrestling and I told him how I used to go watch him.”

 

Another Neighbor, Brelynn Matthieu, called it a “tragedy,” adding, “I was pretty decently close to both of them and loved them very much. It’s a really sad day, all around.”

 

“(Haynes) is in police custody at a local hospital while he is being treated for a medical condition unrelated to the homicide or his contact with law enforcement,” said police. “Once he is released from the hospital, which may be days from now, he is expected to be booked into jail. Haynes’ charges will be released once he is booked.”

 

Haynes is best known for his time in WWE between 1986 and 1988, and he was known for fighting in WrestleMania III. He retired from the ring in 1995 after fighting in New Japan Pro Wrestling and then WCW and USWA.

Pentagon chief in hospital due to ‘emergent bladder issue’

Lloyd Austin has sought urgent treatment for the second time this year

 

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was hospitalized over a medical emergency on Sunday, the Pentagon announced.

 

According to Pentagon spokesman Major General Pat Ryder, Austin was “transported by his security detail to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to be seen for symptoms suggesting an emergent bladder issue.”

 

Austin is “retaining the functions and duties of his office,” the spokesman said, adding that Deputy Secretary Kathleen Hicks is on standby.(such bullshit! Again)

 

Ryder said that the White House and Congress have been notified about the hospitalization.

 

Austin underwent surgery to treat prostate cancer on December 22. He was then hospitalized for two weeks in early January due to “complications,” the Pentagon said at the time.

 

The Defense Department was criticized for the way Austin’s January hospital stay was handled, after it was revealed that the Pentagon had not properly informed the White House until several days later.

West’s ‘image, authority and unity’ at stake – Ukraine’s security chief

Kiev needs even more weaponry from its Western backers to resolve its troubles, Aleksey Danilov insists

 

The situation on the conflict frontline has become even more “difficult” for Kiev, the secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, Aleksey Danilov, has admitted. In order to alleviate it, Kiev urgently needs even more weapons from its backers, the official claimed,warning further setbacks suffered by Ukraine would ultimately damage the West’s own “image, authority and unity.”

 

The security chief made the remarks in an interview with the Portuguese news agency Lusa, published on Sunday. While the frontline situation has never been actually easy for Kiev, it has become even more “difficult” as of late, Danilov claimed.

 

“If anyone thinks that the situation is easy, then these are people who do not understand war,”the official asserted.

 

Should Kiev not receive enough weaponry from the collective West, thesituation is bound to become even more complicated, Danilov added, urging the country’s backers to urgently allocate more funds and hardware. (Thats a threat!)

 

“We need weapons, weapons, weapons,” he stressed.

 

Ukraine will continue fighting Russia no matter what, the official claimed, even if it does not receive enough weaponry from the West. In such a scenario, any further setbacks suffered by Kiev are bound to affect its backers too, he warned.

 

“We hope that our partners will understand that our independence is under threat,as well as the image, authority and unity of the entire West,” Danilov claimed.

 

In recent months, the Ukrainian military has suffered various frontline setbacks, reportedly sustaining heavy casualties in the process. While Kiev has never disclosed its losses, it has greatly intensified its mobilization efforts to fill the military’s ranks, with the country’s leadership claiming up to 500,000 more soldiers were needed. The mobilization has, however, grown increasingly violent and lawless, with numerous videos circulating online showing enlistment offices chasing would-be-soldiers in the streets, forcibly pulling them from public transport and so on.

 

According to the latest Russian estimates,Ukraine lost more than 23,000 troops in January, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said last week. Total casualties suffered by Ukraine since February 2022 had reached 383,000, the minister claimed, with around a half of them sustained during the botched counteroffensive Kiev launched last June.

 

The Ukrainian military also lost hundreds of pieces of heavy military equipment, including assorted systems supplied by the West, including German-made Leopard 2 tanks, US-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and other hardware.

Police respond to ‘active shooter’ at Texas megachurch

Gunfire was heard at the Lakewood Church in Houston on Sunday, witnesses said

 

Several police units were dispatched following reports of a shooting at a large evangelical church in Houston, Texas on Sunday.

A strong sense of the value and blessings of union induced the people, at a very early period, to institute a federal government to preserve and perpetuate it. They formed it almost as soon as they had a political existence; nay, at a time when their habitations were in flames, when many of their citizens were bleeding, and when the progress of hostility and desolation left little room for those calm and mature inquiries and reflections which must ever precede the formation of a wise and wellbalanced government for a free people. It is not to be wondered at, that a government instituted in times so inauspicious, should on experiment be found greatly deficient and inadequate to the purpose it was intended to answer.

 

This intelligent people perceived and regretted these defects. Still continuing no less attached to union than enamored of liberty, they observed the danger which immediately threatened the former and more remotely the latter; and being pursuaded that ample security for both could only be found in a national government more wisely framed, they as with one voice, convened the late convention at Philadelphia, to take that important subject under consideration.

 

This convention composed of men who possessed the confidence of the people, and many of whom had become highly distinguished by their patriotism, virtue and wisdom, in times which tried the minds and hearts of men, undertook the arduous task. In the mild season of peace, with minds unoccupied by other subjects, they passed many months in cool, uninterrupted, and daily consultation; and finally, without having been awed by power, or influenced by any passions except love for their country, they presented and recommended to the people the plan produced by their joint and very unanimous councils.

 

Admit, for so is the fact, that this plan is only RECOMMENDED, not imposed, yet let it be remembered that it is neither recommended to BLIND approbation, nor to BLIND reprobation; but to that sedate and candid consideration which the magnitude and importance of the subject demand, and which it certainly ought to receive. But this (as was remarked in the foregoing number of this paper) is more to be wished than expected, that it may be so considered and examined. Experience on a former occasion teaches us not to be too sanguine in such hopes. It is not yet forgotten that well-grounded apprehensions of imminent danger induced the people of America to form the memorable Congress of 1774. That body recommended certain measures to their constituents, and the event proved their wisdom; yet it is fresh in our memories how soon the press began to teem with pamphlets and weekly papers against those very measures. Not only many of the officers of government, who obeyed the dictates of personal interest, but others, from a mistaken estimate of consequences, or the undue influence of former attachments, or whose ambition aimed at objects which did not correspond with the public good, were indefatigable in their efforts to pursuade the people to reject the advice of that patriotic Congress. Many, indeed, were deceived and deluded, but the great majority of the people reasoned and decided judiciously; and happy they are in reflecting that they did so.

They considered that the Congress was composed of many wise and experienced men. That, being convened from different parts of the country, they brought with them and communicated to each other a variety of useful information. That, in the course of the time they passed together in inquiring into and discussing the true interests of their country, they must have acquired very accurate knowledge on that head. That they were individually interested in the public liberty and prosperity, and therefore that it was not less their inclination than their duty to recommend only such measures as, after the most mature deliberation, they really thought prudent and advisable.

 

These and similar considerations then induced the people to rely greatly on the judgment and integrity of the Congress; and they took their advice, notwithstanding the various arts and endeavors used to deter them from it. But if the people at large had reason to confide in the men of that Congress, few of whom had been fully tried or generally known, still greater reason have they now to respect the judgment and advice of the convention, for it is well known that some of the most distinguished members of that Congress, who have been since tried and justly approved for patriotism and abilities, and who have grown old in acquiring political information, were also members of this convention, and carried into it their accumulated knowledge and experience.

 

It is worthy of remark that not only the first, but every succeeding Congress, as well as the late convention, have invariably joined with the people in thinking that the prosperity of America depended on its Union. To preserve and perpetuate it was the great object of the people in forming that convention, and it is also the great object of the plan which the convention has advised them to adopt. With what propriety, therefore, or for what good purposes, are attempts at this particular period made by some men to depreciate the importance of the Union? Or why is it suggested that three or four confederacies would be better than one? I am persuaded in my own mind that the people have always thought right on this subject, and that their universal and uniform attachment to the cause of the Union rests on great and weighty reasons, which I shall endeavor to develop and explain in some ensuing papers. They who promote the idea of substituting a number of distinct confederacies in the room of the plan of the convention, seem clearly to foresee that the rejection of it would put the continuance of the Union in the utmost jeopardy. That certainly would be the case, and I sincerely wish that it may be as clearly foreseen by every good citizen, that whenever the dissolution of the Union arrives, America will have reason to exclaim, in the words of the poet: "FAREWELL! A LONG FAREWELL TO ALL MY GREATNESS."

the subject of the difference between a Republic vs a Democracy came up in conversation with a Junior anon and I realized that I didn't exactly know-so I did a little dig and stumbled on what the cabal means when they say "Our Democracy"

I had said "Our Democracy" means they're collective grip on power and political ideology and it turns out I was correct.

I used only normie sources so Junior anon wouldn't try to claim I was using biased info.

There's no doubt whatsoever that Biden, Putin, H Clinton, Fetterman and probably many others have been replaced but I'm still not convinced about Austin. The difference in lighting and shadows between the two pics is too great and I see more similarities than differences about the ears.
