You should consider actually talking to people.
The remedy is to learn more about how to live well for yourself, without relying upon others. Jesus's message was honest and pure, though people have since attempted to warp it to derive political authority.
The key being to learn.

Even with this understanding you still will be unable to truly understand the totality of things. Truly coming to be with God is to let go of the compulsion to know everything, and to exist in the world where you are.
Not hidden, simply more than our minds can take in all at once. One can spend an entire lifetime seeking answers and still know little more than the tiniest fraction of all there is to know of God.
Read scripture, read science, read fiction, talk to others, explore nature.
There is a wealth of knowledge swirling around us at all times, if only you engage with the world through inquisitive eyes, eager to learn and to understand more of what exists to be known.
Your perspective in the seeking of knowledge will colour what you find. If you go out looking for dark powers you will find them and be consumed by them, but if you seek truth with an earnest heart you will find a light that will expose and wash away the darkness.
