When you woke up this morning, were you groggier than usual? When the alarm sounded, were you a bear awakened in the middle of January? When you left home for work, did you grumble about the extension of darkness where just yesterday the glow of a preborn sun had been? If you answered “Yes,” congratulations! Your body was screaming that you had once again been scammed by daylight savings time (DST).

 

DST is a fraud guarded by a trenchwork of lies. That pious story of Benjamin Franklin originating the idea as a means of getting lazy Frenchmen up earlier? The letter he wrote in 1784 to the Journal of Paris was a joke, the equivalent of Groucho Marx suggesting the seven-cent nickel. Just read the part where Franklin says:

 

Your readers, who with me have never seen any signs of sunshine before noon, and seldom regard the astronomical part of the almanac, will be as much astonished as I was, when they hear of his rising so early; and especially when I assure them, that he gives light as soon as he rises. I am convinced of this. I am certain of my fact. One cannot be more certain of any fact.

 

If anyone still needs convincing, Franklin suggested in the same letter that France outlaw window shutters so that people wouldn’t be able to sleep in. Unless Dr. Franklin was the 18th-century prototype of the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez modal of politico, Occam’s razor demands we treat his letter as he intended.

 

Instead of an American, DST was actually suggested in 1895 by New Zealand entomologist George Vernon Hudson, who wanted to push the clocks two hours ahead to give himself more time to pin bugs to cards. And it was Germany in 1916 that enacted the first clock change as a means of wartime energy conservation, with the United States following in 1918. So persistent is the idea that clock fiddling magically leads to huge savings in energy that it was used to justify year-round DST in 1974 and its last extension to its current boundaries in 2005.

 

President Nixon hoped to avert a looming energy crisis; in 2015, Sen. Edward Markey, D-Mass., the man largely responsible for getting DST extended when he was a mere congressman, boasted that the extension had resulted in $500,000,000 in electricity and 2.9 million barrels of oil saved. Leaving aside that half a billion dollars doesn’t do jack against our $34 trillion national debt and that the United States consumes 20 million barrels of oil a day, the only thing wrong with these claims is that they aren’t true.

 

An interim report on the results of year-long DST published by the Department of Transportation in June of 1974 found that, nationally, electricity demands only decreased by 0.87 percent. And no matter how much time passes, the facts remain stubborn. A Department of Energy study from 2008 reported that electricity demands only decreased 0.03 percent for the entire year of 2007, the first year the extension of DST was enacted. In 2011, economists Laura Grant and Matthew Kotchen found in their study of electricity use in Indiana that DST — again — increased electricity demands anywhere from 1 to 4 percent.

 

Farmers Don’t Want It

And forget about DST being enacted to help the American farmer and poor, rural communities. They and rural Americans have been the loudest critics of DST since its first implementation in 1918. It doesn’t matter what a clock, the Kaiser, or the Congress says when you get up with the sun and work until dark. It’s the Chamber of Commerce that always wanted DST, not the American farmer. This persistent, rural opposition reveals the damn lie at the heart of DST: It doesn’t do anything. Americans don’t get more daylight. Plants don’t enjoy an extra hour of sunshine. As the Transportation Department’s 1974 study admitted, “DST does not affect the actual number of hours of darkness during a 24-hour period.” And if the hours of darkness are not affected, neither are their counterparts.

Even the March date when we “leap forward” gives the lie away: If DST really did somehow magically increase the amount of sunlight, the clocks would be changed after the summer solstice when the days start becoming shorter again. The truth is that we already have “daylight saving time.” It’s called winter and spring, when we in the Northern Hemisphere receive more sunlight as our half of the globe tilts closer toward the sun. Our cousins in the Southern Hemisphere get their six months after us. We can push our clocks ahead an hour or 26 hours, it makes no difference to the amount of daylight we actually receive.

 

Bad for Your Health

The only difference it makes is one of health, and it’s a change to the red. Study after experiment after report has testified that DST is disastrous to personal health. In 2020, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine published a report testifying that DST “incurs significant public health and safety risks, including increased risk of adverse cardiovascular events, mood disorders, and motor vehicle crashes.” The reason for this is that it violently disrupts our circadian rhythms.

 

Because so many more of us live in urban settings with artificial light rather than rural settings, we often forget that we are biologically connected to the sun, the suprachiasmatic nuclei in our brains attached to the 24-hour solar day through our eyes via light. Waking up with the sun is what “resets” our biological clocks, aligns them with the solar system, and is what helps us feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Disrupting that and losing an hour of sleep when we “leap forward,” not only leads to more car accidents and heartaches and less productivity at work but also increases depression, anxiety, and seasonal affective disorder. Currently, two-thirds of Americans are overweight; 29 percent of American adults have been diagnosed with clinical depression; life expectancy is declining; and drug overdoses and alcohol abuse are increasing. At a time when more Americans are unhealthy, adding to the problem isn’t just counterproductive; it almost seems like our dear leaders are trying to keep us sick and miserable.

 

The obvious solution is to stop playing yoyo with our clocks. Unfortunately, geniuses like Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., say we just need to make DST permanent, proving that there is nothing more stupid and nothing that lies like a politician. Nixon’s experiment with year-round DST in January 1974 became so unpopular — despite initial support — that Congress and President Gerald Ford rescinded it nine months later. Increased darkness in the heart of winter was bad enough. When six schoolchildren in Florida were killed in traffic accidents because of the extended blackness, people were ready to reverse. “It’s time to recognize that we may well have made a mistake,” Sen. Dick Clark, D-Iowa, said, automatically making him statesman of the year.

 

The only real solution is to eradicate DST like the STD it is. Most Americans do not want to change their clocks. And with the increase in interest in healthy living, retro-culture, and more people actually taking steps to put those interests and desires into action, making our clocks align with the sun and our biological clocks would fit like a gold ball in the 18th hole.

 

Not only that, but it would give Americans practice in self-determination. It bears repeating that “Red Caesar” will not save us. Our only hope is our own actions “with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence.” Imagine if even just a quarter of Americans who want natural time reestablished refused to make their clocks lie. If they went about acting like noon was noon, regardless of what others said. Demanding equal service and consideration even if their clocks “identify” with the sun and not moving until it was given. Holding politicians accountable for their lies. For something as insignificant as a one-hour time change? Hell, yes. Dr. Franklin would be proud.

Washington State has now weaponized LogicallyAI to target its citizens and journalists through mass surveillance.

 

Washington's Secretary of State has weaponized artificial intelligence (AI) to conduct mass surveillance ahead of the US 2024 Presidential Election.

 

The state's AI is targeting journalists, conservative activists, and voters for "narratives" the state finds problematic regarding election security and integrity following factual reporting and social media posts, according to information obtained via a public disclosure request (PDR).

 

Steve Hobbs, the WA Secretary of State, entered into a contract with UK Artificial Intelligence company, LogicallyAI, a controversial company that monitors social media accounts to "identify harmful online narratives about the election process and online threats to election officials and the election process."

 

LogicallyAI was used by the British government to censor its citizens on social media during the Covid-19 pandemic on claims of spreading misinformation about the virus.

 

Washington State has now weaponized LogicallyAI to target its citizens and journalists through mass surveillance. Officials have warned that LogicallyAI has the power to shape the 2024 US Presidential Election and now those concerns are coming to fruition. Critics also claim that the state contract is unconstitutional because it violates a person's right to freedom of speech.

 

LogicallyAI sends "threat" and "narrative" alerts to the state each month. The service, which costs taxpayers more than $14,000 per month, acts as a censorship bot that targets social media users who have either questioned or reported on election integrity. It also flags accounts it deems have threatened election officials. The social media accounts of said individuals are then given to Hobbs' office.

 

Journalists and individuals have been listed as "narrative" alerts if they report on illegal immigrants voting, question the integrity of mail-in ballots and voting machines, advocate for voter ID, mention potential fraudulent election activity, discuss dead people receiving ballots and their votes being counted, advocate for election transparency, and more.

 

The PDR request revealed that journalists Ari Hoffman and Katie Daviscourt of The Post Millennial were tagged in these alerts after reporting factual stories about Washington's election process such as illegal immigrants who were caught voting and envelopes with white powder sent to election locations. Seattle-based journalist Jonathan Choe, political commentator Brandi Kruse, radio show host Jason Rantz, Republican congressional and state candidates, and conservative voters have also been tagged, the PDR request revealed

Katie Porter is ending her Senate campaign the same way she started it: by pissing off members of her own party.

 

She enraged the Democratic establishment from the get-go, jumping into the race in January 2023 before Sen. Dianne Feinstein had announced her plans to leave. Party loyalists were galled at the lack of deference to the elder senator, who would pass away months later.

 

Now,Porter’s insistence that she lost Tuesday’s primary because it was “rigged” by a deluge of special-interest spending is igniting a swift backlash from Democrats who— in the era of Donald Trump’s election denialism — seethed at any insinuation of a stolen election.

 

“There was nothing in this election that was rigged,” said Antonio Villaraigosa, the former Los Angeles mayor and a supporter of Adam Schiff, who finished in the top two and is expected to win the seat. “And virtually everyone knows that.”

The bookends of her ill-fated campaign are quintessentially Katie Porter: allergic to political niceties, relishing a fight with the old guard and then punching the gas on her messy minivan as she peels out of the D.C. swamp — possibly for good. Her “pox on all their houses” attitude was core to her brand as a politician and would have made her a more formidable candidate in a head-to-head Senate matchup with fellow Democratic Rep. Schiff.

 

But that was not the race she had to win. Porter rode her message of “burn the system down” to a distant third-place finish on Tuesday.

 

This account of her downfall is based on interviews with eight campaign officials and outside close supporters who were granted anonymity to openly discuss the deliberations of her losing bid, as well as several other people involved in the race.

 

The voters most energized by her scathing systemic critiques — younger, more diverse, less loyal to party labels — largely didn’t show up in a primary that skewed far older, whiter and more conservative than California’s typical electorate.

 

“She was preaching to a choir that wasn’t going to show up and sing,” said Nathan Barankin, a Democratic strategist who worked for a super PAC backing Rep. Barbara Lee.

 

Wielding her miniature whiteboard and excoriating corporate fat cats, Porter became a viral sensation after flipping a battleground House seat in Orange County in 2018. At 50, she’s youthful by Washington standards, and insiders in California are already buzzing about her next moves and speculating over whether her disgruntled exit from the race would harm her reputation.

 

In the Senate race, public and private polls showed her in the game until the home stretch when mail-in ballots started dropping in February. But by that point, she had shifted into neutral and was quickly running out of gas. Porter was done in by Schiff’s three-part formula for winning: A prolific fundraiser who ran an anti-Donald Trump message and secured the early support of House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, Schiff boosted himself and spent millions alongside allies promoting Republican Steve Garvey, while deep-pocketed corporate supporters pelted Porter with attack ads…..

According to the contract, LogicallyAI provides "overarching services" to the Office of the Secretary of State. This includes narrative alerts, threat alerts, bi-weekly narrative and threat trend reports, final narrative and threat trend reports, and narrative and threat briefings.

 

HOW IT WORKS

 

LogicallyAI conducts mass social media surveillance. If an individual posts a discussion the AI deems related to election integrity, the Secretary of State receives an alert that describes why the narrative or threat is harmful.

 

For example, LogicallyAI issued an alert to the state after individuals discussed receiving multiple ballots, ballots being sent out to deceased individuals, and receiving ballots after moving to a different city or out of the state.

 

LogicallyAI tagged this narrative because it could "motivate individuals to call on officials to ban mail-in ballots and advocate for in-person voting only."

 

It also claims that it could "degrade confidence in Washington state's mail-in-ballot system among those who believe that election officials mail ballots to deceased people or outdated voter addresses."

Jim Walsh, state representative and chairman of the Washington State Republican Party, said in a statement to The Post Millennial that the "unconstitutional totalitarian contract" is troubling as it undermines a citizen's right to freedom of speech.

 

"The WA Secretary of State's shady, no-bid contract with the UK-based firm LogicallyAI should trouble every thinking person in the state. The main problem is that it undermines citizens' free speech rights in a wannabe totalitarian way. Snooping and lodging complaints about factual but inconvenient social media posts? Bad stuff. Unconstitutional stuff," said Walsh.

 

"Beyond that, the way that the WA Secretary of State went about doing this was shady. Fronting the no-bid contract through a local community college so that it would be hard to find? Denying reasonable requests to cancel the contract and redo it with a domestic firm? Claiming no retaliation has been taken, while LogicallyAI brags about shadow-banning people on Facebook, Twitter, and the rest? Bad, bad, bad," he added.

 

Walsh was also tagged after being surveilled by LogicallyAI.

 

Additionally, Hobbs' office is using the software system to target journalists and started redacting the names after receiving the first few monthly reports, the PDR request shows.

 

TPM's Ari Hoffman and Katie Daviscourt's factual report about election offices receiving envelopes laced with fentanyl during the state's mid-term election last year was featured as a narrative alert. The envelopes included a threatening letter that had been emblazoned with Antifa symbols.

Hoffman was also labeled as a threat for sharing a factual report about illegal immigrants voting in Washington state's elections.

Journalist Jonathan Choe of the Discovery Institute, and political commentator Brandi Kruse, who is the host of the popular podcast "Undivided," were also tagged for providing evidence-based reporting on a coordinated effort between state Democrat Party leaders and local Democrat activists to disrupt lawful signature-gathering efforts.

 

In February, investigative journalist Lee Fang testified before Congress about the dangers LogicallyAI poses to US elections.

WA Secretary of State Steve Hobbs' office said in a statement to The Ari Hoffman Show on Talk Radio 570 KVI, "Logically AI, which generated that message, notifies the Secretary of State’s office of emerging narratives online concerning electoral integrity so that we can be aware of concerns that are being raised in active public discourse," said Derrick Nunnally, Deputy Director of External Affairs.

Defiant Netanyahu Vows To Cross Biden's Rafah 'Red Line': "We Are Not Getting Off The Gas"

 

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hit back at Biden after the US president issued a "red line" warning against a military ground attack on the refugee-packed city of Rafah in Gaza's south.

 

Starting Sunday Netanyahu responded by vowing to press forward with the planned offensive on Rafah, believed to be imminent, when asked about the Biden red line statement. "We'll go there. We're not going to leave them. You know, I have a red line. You know what the red line is? That October 7 doesn't happen again. Never happens again."

 

Biden had told MSNBC on Saturday that an attack on Rafah is a red line for the administration, but as we underscored earlier he didn't attach any potential consequences to such an action. "But there’s red lines that if he crosses them — you cannot have 30,000 more Palestinians dead as a consequence of going after" Hamas, Biden said. "There’s other ways to deal with, to get to, to deal with the trauma caused by Hamas."

 

Biden then asserted that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is "hurting Israel more than helping Israel" in the way the war against Hamas is being executed.

 

Netanyahu in response to this told Politico, "I don't know exactly what the president meant." The Israeli leader hit back as follows: "But if he meant by that, that I'm pursuing private policies against the wishes of the majority of Israelis and that this is hurting the interests of Israel, then he's wrong on both counts."

 

And in a Monday interview with Fox News, Netanyahu went so far as to suggest that Biden's words are harming the counter-terror mission by presenting a disunified front on what are supposed to be common Washington-Israel aims.

 

"To the extent that Hamas believes that there’s daylight between us, that doesn’t help," said Netanyahu. However, he pointed out that unity and agreement in terms of objectives "helps the war effort, and it helps our efforts to achieve victory and obviously the release of the hostages."

 

He also addressed the question of a post-war two state solution being pushed by the Biden administration. "You don’t have an issue with me. You have an issue with the entire people of Israel," he claimed. "They’re really united as never before, united to destroy Hamas, and ensure that we don’t have another Palestinian terror state like the one that we had in Gaza that could threaten the State of Israel."

 

Also in this latest Monday Fox interview Netanyahu reaffirmed he is not wavering from sending his forces into Rafah:

 

"The president and I have agreed that we have to destroy Hamas. We can’t leave a quarter of the Hamas terror army in place there in Rafah," he says. “We have agreements on the basic goals, but we also have disagreements. Ultimately, it’s Israel that has to decide.”

 

Hitting back at Biden’s comment that going into Rafah is a “red line” for him, Netanyahu says leaving Hamas forces there intact is "a red line. We can’t let Hamas survive."

 

"We are not getting off the gas" in the war on Hamas, Netanyahu insists.

Levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the blood are as good a predictor of mortality from any cause as smoking, according to a study involving the Hospital del Mar Medical Research Institute (IMIM), in collaboration with The Fatty Acid Research Institute in the United States and several universities in the United States and Canada. The study, published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, used data from a long-term study group, the Framingham Offspring Cohort, which has been monitoring residents of this Massachusetts town, in the United States, since 1971.

 

Researchers have found that omega-3 levels in blood erythrocytes (the so-called red blood cells) are very good mortality risk predictors. The study concludes that "Having higher levels of these acids in the blood, as a result of regularly including oily fish in the diet, increases life expectancy by almost five years", as Dr. Aleix Sala-Vila, a postdoctoral researcher in the IMIM's Cardiovascular Risk and Nutrition Research Group and author of the study, points out. In contrast, "Being a regular smoker takes 4.7 years off your life expectancy, the same as you gain if you have high levels of omega-3 acids in your blood", he adds.

 

2,200 people monitored over eleven years

 

The study analysed data on blood fatty acid levels in 2,240 people over the age of 65, who were monitored for an average of eleven years. The aim was to validate which fatty acids function as good predictors of mortality, beyond the already known factors. The results indicate that four types of fatty acids, including omega-3, fulfil this role. It is interesting that two of them are saturated fatty acids, traditionally associated with cardiovascular risk, but which, in this case, indicate longer life expectancy. "This reaffirms what we have been seeing lately", says Dr Sala-Vila, "not all saturated fatty acids are necessarily bad." Indeed, their levels in the blood cannot be modified by diet, as happens with omega-3 fatty acids.

 

These results may contribute to the personalisation of dietary recommendations for food intake, based on the blood concentrations of the different types of fatty acids. "What we have found is not insignificant. It reinforces the idea that small changes in diet in the right direction can have a much more powerful effect than we think, and it is never too late or too early to make these changes", remarks Dr Sala-Vila.

 

The researchers will now try to analyse the same indicators in similar population groups, but of European origin, to find out if the results obtained can also be applied outside the United States. The American Heart Association recommends eating oily fish such as salmon, anchovies or sardines twice a week because of the health benefits of omega-3 acids.

ABSTRACT

Background

RBC long-chain omega-3 (n–3) fatty acid (FA) percentages (of total fatty acids) are associated with lower risk for total mortality, but it is unknown if a suite of FAs could improve risk prediction.

 

Objectives

The objective of this study was to compare a combination of RBC FA levels with standard risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) in predicting risk of all-cause mortality.

 

Methods

Framingham Offspring Cohort participants without prevalent CVD having RBC FA measurements and relevant baseline clinical covariates (n = 2240) were evaluated during 11 y of follow-up. A forward, stepwise approach was used to systematically evaluate the association of 8 standard risk factors (age, sex, total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, hypertension treatment, systolic blood pressure, smoking status, and prevalent diabetes) and 28 FA metrics with all-cause mortality. A 10-fold cross-validation process was used to build and validate models adjusted for age and sex.

 

Results

Four of 28 FA metrics [14:0, 16:1n–7, 22:0, and omega-3 index (O3I; 20:5n–3 + 22:6n–3)] appeared in ≥5 of the discovery models as significant predictors of all-cause mortality. In age- and sex-adjusted models, a model with 4 FA metrics was at least as good at predicting all-cause mortality as a model including the remaining 6 standard risk factors (C-statistic: 0.778; 95% CI: 0.759, 0.797; compared with C-statistic: 0.777; 95% CI: 0.753, 0.802). A model with 4 FA metrics plus smoking and diabetes (FA + Sm + D) had a higher C-statistic (0.790; 95% CI: 0.770, 0.811) compared with the FA (P < 0.01) or Sm + D models alone (C-statistic: 0.766; 95% CI: 0.739, 0.794; P < 0.001). A variety of other highly correlated FAs could be substituted for 14:0, 16:1n–7, 22:0, or O3I with similar predicted outcomes.

 

Conclusions

In this community-based population in their mid-60s, RBC FA patterns were as predictive of risk for death during the next 11 y as standard risk factors. Replication is needed in other cohorts to validate this FA fingerprint as a predictor of all-cause mortality.

The Russian Foreign Ministry told business daily RBK that Moscow and Beijing treat each other’s initiatives with special attention and deep respect, adding that both nations were determined to further progress bilateral relations.

 

It said that China’s proposal needed to be considered in light of military and political realities, along with other factors concerning international security and strategic stability. It referred specifically to a deterioration in relations between the ‘Nuclear Five’ powers – Britain, France, the US, China and Russia.

 

Moscow said reducing confrontation between nuclear-armed states by eliminating “fundamental contradictions in the field of security” was an issue of “absolute priority.”

 

Last month, the head of the arms control department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Sun Xiaobo, called on nuclear states to fulfill their “special and priority responsibilities” on disarmament under the UN Conference on Disarmament, which seeks to prevent atomic war. He said nuclear-armed nations should negotiate and conclude a treaty on non-first use of nuclear weapons against each other or make a political statement in this regard.

 

Russia and the US, the world’s two biggest nuclear powers, suspended contact in the sphere of nuclear arms control following the launch of Moscow’s offensive against Ukraine. ‘Soldiers From NATO Countries are Already in Ukraine’ Says Poland’s Foreign Minister

 

Poland’s Foreign Minister, returned after a ten-year spell in opposition, has said NATO soldiers are already in Ukraine, thanking alliance member states so deployed for taking “this risk”, the latest comments in a growing European conversation on boots on the ground for Kyiv.

 

Radosław Sikorski, speaking in the Polish Parliament on Saturday during an event marking the 25th anniversary of Poland signing the NATO treaty, declared with certainty there are already troops from the alliance stationed in neighbouring Ukraine. Referring to the bullish remarks of French President Emmanuel Macron on the need to keep all options open on fighting Russia, and the apparent slip-ups of the German Chancellor and Military on the direct involvement of the United Kingdom and France, Sikorski stopped short of saying from which states he believed are involved.

 

FM Sikorski said, as reported by U.S. government news outlet Radio Free Europe, that their presence came with some threat. He told the gathering: “Soldiers from NATO countries are already in Ukraine. I would like to thank the countries that take this risk.” Those countries with forces inside Ukraine “themselves know who they are” but “unlike other European politicians”, Sikorski said he would not be drawn further.

 

Also on Saturday Sikorski said “it is not unthinkable” that forces could be sent to Ukraine and said it was good the French President was speaking a big game on Ukraine, because “it is about Putin being afraid, not us being afraid of Putin.”

 

France’s Macron had said in February that NATO soldiers to Ukraine “could not be ruled out”, and despite a host of alliance leaders categorically rejecting the idea, Macron and a small group of others have not stopped speaking about the idea. Macron has since insisted his comments were measured and thought through, and apparently, part of a Trumpian mind-game with Putin where comments are interpreted figuratively if not literally and made for effect.

NORTH COLLEGE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) - Nearly three-quarters of the North College Hill Fire Department called it quits on Friday, announcing that they will be resigning as of March 17.

 

Members of the North College Hill Fire Department said they have reached a "breaking point." The people planning to leave the department include top-level management such as all of the chief officers, the majority of lieutenants, and senior firefighters.

Then, on Saturday, both the city and North College Hill Fire Fighters Local 5279 issued a response.

 

"The members of Local 5279 have taken an oath to safeguard the citizens of North College Hill. Despite confronting limited resources and staffing, our members strive to provide the best possible services to the community." said Local 5279 in a release on Saturday. "However, the ongoing situation has put our members' safety at risk due to inadequate staffing."

 

According to the release, the station responds to over 3,100 emergency calls annually. It said that in normal situations, there are six staff members on duty at any given time, but due to the current circumstances, they're projecting that only two or three members will be on duty.

 

The statement said that this will "significally impact our response times and strain neighboring departments."

 

But, Local 5279 said that regardless of the situation, the remaining members will "remain strongly committed to safeguarding lives and protecting property."

 

The city of North College Hill also released a statement on Saturday.

 

"The city of North College Hill is actively working to address the situation caused by the resignation of 14 part-time and one full-time firefighter. We're implementing interim measures to maintain essential fire and emergency services and coordinating with neighboring fire departments to provide coverage and support during this transition period," said the city of North College Hill. "We understand the concerns that this news may raise, and we want to reassure you that we are taking every step necessary to minimize any disruptions in service. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time."

The city finished the statement by saying that it's "grateful to our neighboring community partners who have reached out to offer their help and support."

 

Another statement was made by the city on Saturday, it said that as of 6 p.m. Fire Chief Brian Fels was placed on paid administrative leave until his resignation on March 17. He's no longer permitted to enter city property or to reach out to employees of the city through normal city communications.

 

The city also advised staff not to communicate with him while working on city time.

 

"An Acting Fire Chief will be named early next week. In the interim, Police Chief Ryan Schrand will be Acting as Public Safety Director over both Police and Fire until an Acting Fire Chief is named," said the city in the release. "We appreciate your continued service to the City and look forward to collaborating with you to move forward."

 

According to those resigning, the situation started due to the "hostile actions from the city administrator and HR clerk going unchecked."

 

In total,the department is losing 170 year's worth of combined service.

Arctic Sea Ice, Polar Bears and Great Barrier Reef Return to the Headlines in Misinformation Blitzkrieg

 

Over the last month, it’s been whack-a-mole time as alarmists pop no less than three poster scares of climate collapse back into the mainstream headlines. The Guardian dusted down the old ‘scientists say’ favourite that there will be ice-free summers in the Arctic “possibly” within the next decade; billionaire foundation-rewarded BBC activist Matt McGrath gave us the ever-popular “Climate change: Polar bears face starvation threat as ice melts” story, while Peter Hess for the Daily Mail and Reuters filed a pack of nonsense reporting that the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) was in grave danger of disappearing due to the Earth being on the “cusp of the worst bleaching event in history”. All very confusing given that Arctic sea ice has been recovering for over a decade and on January 8th recorded its highest level for 21 years, polar bears are thriving across the Arctic and numbers are probably at record levels, while coral on the GBR has bounced back from numerous recent natural bleaching events to hit a two-year period of record high cover.

 

Details, details. It seems the ice, the polar bears and the corals are far too valuable poster scares to be let go that easily. The mainstream media has been captured by a false catastrophist climate narrative that is programmed to report every click-bait doomsday science paper, every bad weather event and every biased report based on incomplete statistics and data that are open to less sensationalist interpretations. In the process, citizens are left in a state of fear about global ‘heating’ and climate ‘collapse’ – more easily pushed it would seem to accept the madness of the collectivist Net Zero project.

 

The latest Arctic ice scare is based on a paper published in Nature where the activist scientists used “high emissions” climate model scenarios to predict ice-free conditions in September within six years. Gullible Guardian writer Helena Horton suggests that the home of polar bears, seals and walruses could be mostly water for months as early as 2035 “due to fossil fuel emissions”. In fact, summer sea ice has shown no significant decline since 2007, as the graph below shows.

 

Compiled by the Danish scientist Allan Astrup Jensen, the red bar shows the monthly average for the lowest extent of summer sea ice invariably reached in September. The author notes that there has been no significant downward movement during the last 17 years. In fact, it seems that for about a decade, overall Arctic sea ice has been slowly recovering from a previous fall. A line showing a decline is often drawn showing a linear trend downwards from a high point of 1979, when satellites first stared recording comprehensive data. However, records going back to the 1950s suggest much lower ice levels, and in the historical data, cycles of waxing and waning over 70-80 years can be clearly observed.

 

The year 1979 is a convenient starting point for Arctic hysterics since it marks the end of a four decade-long cooling period as the graph below demonstrates. The recent warming seen in the Arctic has taken temperatures back to those observed in the 1930s and 1940s.

The US government is moving to ban TikTok over pro-Palestine content outperforming pro-Israel content and force the sale of the Chinese-owned company to a group of Zionist investors headed by former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick.

 

From The Wall Street Journal, "TikTok Crackdown Shifts Into Overdrive, With Sale or Shutdown on Table":

Legislation that would ban TikTok in the U.S. or force its sale is hurtling toward a vote in the House following months of behind-the-scenes efforts on Capitol Hill. The new push caught the service off-guard, ratcheting up interest from possible buyers and raising the possibility that one of the most popular apps in the country could soon be shut down.

 

[…] The legislation calls for Beijing-based parent ByteDance to divest itself of TikTok or face the platform being banned from app stores and web-hosting services in the U.S. ByteDance would have a little more than five months from the enactment of the bill to comply. TikTok, which is accessed by more than 170 million Americans, sees this as an effective ban, said a spokeswoman. The company says separating the U.S. portion of its app wouldn't be practical and would undercut the appeal of the content app, which is global in nature.

 

Already, U.S. tech and media titans are circling. In recent days, some executives have discussed buying TikTok if ByteDance agrees to sell. Bobby Kotick, the former chief executive of videogame publisher Activision, has already approached ByteDance Executive Chair Zhang Yiming to express interest, according to a person familiar with the situation. Any price tag is estimated to be in the hundreds of billions of dollars.

 

Kotick is looking for partners. At a dinner at an Allen & Co. conference earlier this week, Kotick floated the idea of partnering to buy TikTok to a table of people that included OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, according to people familiar with the situation. OpenAI could use TikTok to help train its AI models if a partner such as Kotick could raise the capital for such an acquisition.

This is an insanely authoritarian attack on free speech and the "free market" and it's being done explicitly to advance the interests of Israel, not America, the WSJ reports:

[Rep. Mike Gallagher's R-WI] efforts [to ban TikTok] appeared to stall in 2023, but were revived in part by the fallout from the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, according to people close to TikTok and people close to lawmakers. TikTok's users quickly inundated the platform with videos about the attack and Israel's war on Gaza. Some lawmakers said TikTok appeared to favor pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel content, and renewed calls to ban the app in the U.S.

 

TikTok's spokeswoman said that the videos that lawmakers are concerned about were created by its users, and the company argued it has been fair in moderating pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian videos.

 

"Oct. 7 really opened people's eyes to what's happening on TikTok" and its "differential treatment of different topics," said [Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL)], adding that the coming election also fueled concerns. "People are concerned about interference using TikTok."

Israel demands all criticism of their genocide campaign in Gaza be censored worldwide and then South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signs a bill aimed at outlawing criticism of Jews and Israel and the US government moves to ban TikTok in one of the most authoritarian anti-First Amendment measures ever taken without a care in the world for the consequences or the Bill of Rights.

 

Two and a half centuries of free speech needs to come to an end because "God's chosen people" cannot be criticized.

The Jews over the centuries have executed numerous atrocities and crimes against various peoples and sovereign nations. Aside from the wars and revolutions, they have launched numerous food embargoes, economic embargoes, instigated brutal economic recessions, and many other such. This essay covers one such event that has been totally buried by history, by Jewish authors, by Jewish book publishers, the Jewish-owned mainstream media, and buried so well that perhaps only a few people of a million are even aware of its existence. Yet this is one of the more savage attempts at Jewish control of a nation, and has been described as “the singular event that sparked what became World War II.” This event was the 1933 Jewish worldwide economic war on Germany, one that occurred long before there was any such thing as sanctions or reprisals of any kind against Jews in Germany.

 

“Contrary to popular myth, the Jews remained “free” inside Germany – albeit subject to laws which did restrict certain of their privileges – prior to the outbreak of World War II. Yet, a little-known fact is that before the war began, the leadership of the world Jewish community formally declared war on Germany – above and beyond the ongoing six-year-long economic boycott launched by the worldwide Jewish community when the Nazi Party came to power in 1933. As a consequence of the formal declaration of war, the German authorities thus deemed Jews to be potential enemy agents. “Long before the Hitler government began restricting the rights of the German Jews, the leaders of the worldwide Jewish community formally declared war on the “New Germany”. To this day, it is generally (although incorrectly) believed that when Adolf Hitler was appointed German chancellor in January of 1933, the German government began policies to suppress the Jews of Germany.”[2]

 

The background of this event was that Hitler – who was only a member of a coalition and by no means the “leader” of Germany at the time – fully recognised that the bulk of the troubles confronting Germany had been caused by the Jews. Among these were the instigation of WW1 against Germany, Germany’s defeat in WW1 by the conscription of the US into the war, and the brutal and unconscionable provisions of the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler fully recognised that Germany’s hyperinflation and the accompanying severe depression were entirely instigated by Jewish bankers to plunder Germany. At the time, Germany’s economy was in shambles, with a very high unemployment rate and little hope for any sort of reconstruction, primarily because the Jews (Rothschild) owned Germany’s central bank and controlled the currency and much of the economy and were much more interested in looting the country than in rebuilding it. In recognition of this, Hitler took some remarkable steps. He killed the Jewish privately-owned central bank, evicted all Jews from the national banking system, evicted all Jews from high government positions, and effectively removed them from any positions where they could continue to do harm to Germany and to prevent its resurrection as a sovereign state. The historical record of Hitler’s subsequent “economic miracle” in Germany is legend and information is easily available. Within only three years after removing Rothschild and the Jews from the banking system and taking control of banking and the currency, Germany was at full employment and the economy was humming again. Hitler’s economic measures were so successful that Roosevelt wanted very badly to copy his formula.

 

Even more, the US generally was so impressed with Hitler’s economic miracle that Time Magazine named him “Man of the Year”. Of course, Time has since learned its lesson and covers this with an astonishingly hateful diatribe
